been there, done that. Last week i had a bowl of water at my desk while sitting in my underwear and dabbing my face. Got so hot and tilted when i got stacked that i blew up and poured the whole bowl over my head while playing. Would have been a pretty funny moment to catch on video

What I've realised is that I'm somewhere along the way started to act like a loser, I barely work on my game these days (as least as not as much I used to do), failing is suddenly like a problem. For example when I take shots or try to battle regs, I used to be fine with losing as long as I did my best, but that's not enough these days.. I get sad/dissapointed even if I just lose flips. Feels like I'm never going to make another dollar from poker and that I've reached my peak.
hi godspeed. I'm really sorry to hear that you're having a rough time. I have just made a video on cardrunners which is specifically based on dealing with downswings and variance. Whilst i don't know your game and whether or not variance is playing a factor in the equation, many of the things i cover in the video will help contribute to a positive attitude and mental game. It sounds to me that you are struggling for motivation and some of the things i can suggest are skype groups to discuss hands, sweat sessions and also using other ways of working on your game. This could be by using crEV (pretty boring but helpful) or using HEM/PT4 to analyse your game. In my next video i will be using HEM2 to do basic analysis on your game to help plug leaks - you may find this useful too. fwiw, 170k hands is an extremely standard length of time to not win. I know that sounds awful but in a lifetime sample you can expect to have up to an 80bi downswing that is out of your control (whilst still playing optimally). I hope this helps somewhat. Feel free to ask any more questions or for links to the videos. glgl

vs pretty good reg. fwiw now, i think river is the easiest fold ever. We chop a queen but lose to 2 combos of AQs and 1 combo of AKss given he doesn't really call any other hands pre. That leaves us with calling vs pure bluffs, which in hindsight, there are none:

          ah. my bad tyty!

          ---

Played two sessions today. A game first, B game second. I wasn't really concentrating as much as i have been for the second session and this was definitely reflected in some of the hands i played. If i had to guess i would say i made about 1k 1st and lost 1.2-1.6k 2nd.

Something is up with the hand poster on 2p2 so i can't actually put any hands up. Will try again before i go to bed but not looking good. Sorry!

Real satisfying 3-2 win tonight vs a bunch of over aggro foul machines.

Thanks mate! I'm finding it tough but beneficial for the most part and am hoping to continue to stick to it. Definitely helped a ton with my mental game.

          Weekly update 1

So I checked my results and given how bad i thought i was doing i am absolutely over the moon! Wasn't ever down as much as i thought i was and also upswung nicely towards the end of the week to be in alright profit.

          Miscellaneous stuff:

          - Meditation has been 6/7 days which i'm really pleased with.
          - Been gym twice which is 1 less than i had hoped
          - Slept really bad for 2 nights and this contributed to bad negative thinking/feeling
          - Been reading a lot of the MGOP again
          - Have played 95% A game this month which is probably the best i've ever played over a week span (when running what felt like pretty bad)

That'll do for the update. Hoping to have a big 2nd week. I'm booking Budapest for roughly the 22nd-27th and also on a family holiday the last day of the month + first 2 of next month. Also going to Lattitude festival on the 16th till the 19th so i actually don't have a ton more time to grind this month!

          ---

Went to another one of those immersive shows and it was so so good again. Some pics below... It was called Shelter Me and i suggest if anyone is looking to do something really fun in london then definitely look at the link! They're actually circus performers and real good ones at that.

          http://theatredelicatessen.co.uk/js_events/shelter-me/

It started inside with loads of cool interactive things and then moved outside to a roof where they were doing craaaazy ****.

Weird suspended cloud things that some of us had to blow to the otherside of the room :s

One of the main aspects of the show that was really interesting was at the start you had to give your phone number to them, they then randomly gave you someone elses number. By doing so the aim was that you could constantly text your 'buddy' (someone else in the show) but you didn't know who they were. Then at the end you got to meet up with them. It was such a cool and weird concept, everyone walking around on their phones and being encouraged to take photos and text whilst keeping your phone on full volume.

Anyway, take my word for it, check it out

Still waiting to hear back from the interview last week but they're still within the time frame of friday so i'm not too worried yet!

          gl guys

So in other news i heard back from my interview and it's a real weird one. So as we know there were 2 spots out of the 10. I got a call from the manager stating that they had accepted one person, but they were torn between 3 of us, including myself. I now have to attend a 1 to 1 interview to see if i can get the other spot. Feels crazy to jump through so many hoops to get a voluntary position, but i've discovered that the therapy world is just insanely competitive so these are the lengths that we need to go through. I dread what it would be like getting a paid position! So my interview is next wednesday at 2pm, we'll see how it goes...

                Back on it tomorrow. glgl

Up till recently I was only checking my results once a month and I found it was almost always the case that I would under-estimate my winnings. Not sure why that is.

that is weird, i hope that it works in the way that when i know im losing then i'm not losing as much in reality. It happened last time and i would love it to be happening right now... although i don't think it is!

God, today was grim. I'm 100% sure i've lost all my monthly profit the past 3 days and it's a mixture of running bad but i'd say i've lost my head a few times where i shouldn't have. I've also been playing WAY more than usual which may be contributing to the bad results.

I got crEV about a week ago, and been learning it by looking at SB vs BTN 3bet ranges, so the above hand was interesting to play with, but take my findings with a pinch of salt as I'm new to this tool.

I assumed BTN opens 50% and calls 3bet unexploitably, while SB 3bets 13%.

Flop hits BTN range hard, and you can call with a reasonably well balanced range of made hands and strong draws.

Turn SB probably has to check/call his full continuing range given BTN range advantage on this flop plus the 7 not helping matters.

River seems +ev for SB to check/fold everything less than sets. So I agree with your assertion his call was bad.

                            One last thought...

If he doesn't check/call his entire turn range (i.e. turn cbets some strong hands), then on river he might feel he needs to call overpairs to remain balanced. I think that's probably a mistake, as I think in general BTNs jam on this runout is likely to be unbalanced towards value.

                            Ian

PS: big assumption that BTN has no raising range on this flop. Is that reasonable?

Got my gf's graduation tomorrow and will be playing hard on sunday.

Really trying to keep my head together atm and tilt checking my results is a sign that i'm letting things get to me. It is only human to have slip ups though.
