Why can’t it be balanced using overpairs and draws exclusively?

hmm I think it cant be properly balanced unless we have some folds when facing jam, and obv we're not folding either of those ever

Yeah, gotta have some KJcc/KQcc/QTcc/Axcc in there
Mastering Mental Game and Mental Health Quote

you get a lot of direct fold equity from potting flop thus having backdoor equity isnt so relevent, you can pot with hands like KJss or w/e here and as long as you arent overdoing it its gonna be fine

potting with backdoor clubs allows u to jam on club turns. feels better than always checking turn with something like KJss. btn should still find a decent amount of folds on turn even if flop is folded heaps. btn prob cant even defend hearts to turn jam
Mastering Mental Game and Mental Health Quote
01-19-2019 , 10:59 PM
well aware u cant jam turns with very low equity hands like KJss but you are going to be facing jams a fair bit when getting action with pot sized bet, and getting denied your equity with backdoor clubs everytime is pretty meh
Mastering Mental Game and Mental Health Quote
01-19-2019 , 11:16 PM
yeah i guess that's true. i don't rly expect btn to jam much in this spot but i guess btn has to vs size? not rly sure tbh
Mastering Mental Game and Mental Health Quote
01-19-2019 , 11:20 PM
i had a somewhat similar spot at 200z against some bad reg. although im sure SB's play with aces is much less of a mistake than what this guy did:

against size i felt like 88 wasn't even strong enough to jam and felt better about flatting.
