haha, yeah it's certainly different to any type of work in that respect.

It can be super frustrating too. Fortunately there isn't the pressing issue of needing to win cus of financial reason which obviously is a huge help.

Interesting post, and ofc there is some truth to what you're saying. However, it seems that you are the one who may have things mixed up. You've only been around the forums/using whotfru for a relatively short period of time. King10clubs actually broke even for ONE MILLION hands in 2014 or 2015. He's one player who has arguably been at the very top of his game for years, and is a prime example of the sickness of variance. I can give you countless other examples of good winning players going on 150-250k hand breakeven/losing stretches too (who are still playing fulltime too).

I obviously agree that variance and falling behind the curve are different things, but i have broken even/LOST money over 150-250k hand samples several times (just go back through this thread and have a look). I've actually lost count of the amount of times that people have made similar posts to yours when i've been losing for hundreds of thousands of hands, and then when i start winning again (bar the classic guys who say i'm heatering blah blah) they seemingly disappear...until the next time i'm having a rough stretch. I've been around long enough to know the difference between runbad and falling behind the curve, and while i definitely am not one of the top 500z regs (and tbh, i don't think i ever was) variance has played a FAR bigger factor in this sample than lack of quality in my game. That said, I'm studying regularly, spending time with players who are have a better understanding of the game that me and taking my work very seriously (shoutout to elsa!)

Whoever keeps deleting tasty's posts, can you leave them in here. At least while he's willing to have a proper conversation

Re: Mastering Mental Game and Mental Health

I feel bad for tasty. He had such a delusional thought process of how to play winning poker and when it all blew up in his face, because he was not a good player, he resorted to his terrible attitude to try and make himself feel better.

Then he got ousted from a community he was never really apart of and now resorts to troll accounts to try and boost his confidence by attxkkng others who are more successful than him. If he ever happens to read this, my honest piece of advice is to see a clinical psychologist. Dig deep into why he feels the need to do what he does and try to solve the core underlying issues there. Maybe if he can solve his mind he can have a shot at becoming a poker player

Re: Mastering Mental Game and Mental Health

Agree with the above. Tastyy bro, give it a break, take some time off to reevaluate your life and come to terms with where you're at. Maybe see a psychologist that knows what hes doing. Mainly give it a break though, especially from poker. Relax for a couple of days and just go to a park and chill or something. Find a decent job, get some stability into your life and likely your psychological health has also impacted your physical health so get that sorted by working on a proper sleep schedule, diet and exercise. Nice photos!

For what it's worth I think your doing really well in life and look happy. Having finished with uni while playing at the same time, being long time grinder at reasonable stakes with good results for several years I think there's nothing to be concerned about so much with this downswing.

Re: Mastering Mental Game and Mental Health

man, that streak, went to something kiiiiiiinda similar and it was really hard to go grind while running bad, playing well*. its like you expect it too go that way. We believe thoughts become reality(i do)so what I tried to do was changing the pattern of my thoughts. in practice is hard obv. But its something Ive read and put in practice.

what I did to rewire* my brain was saying 3 things Im grateful for at any given moment and as many times as possible during the day. that makes your brainwaves go in a diff direction (positive)

it doesnt happen over night but in a couple weeks youll deff feel some changes. and has many advantages, its free, its a good approach towards your life, and if you believe it works it works (as most of the things of the mind go), etc. gl dude, next time you guys wanna come to central america Im in Costa RIca
