I dont understand the xr with 76 personally. 87 raise seems random button clicking but i recently started playing deepstack and that in mtts (no rake)

Re: Mastering Mental Game and Mental Health

Is 3b'ing with 66 btn vs utg then flatting a 4b ~100BB effective a standard play?

Some of these hands make you go hmmm. It seems the mentality of the 67s vs 87s hand is everywhere, even at my meager stake. They has a pair and think you're fos and just go with it. Makes me think just playing straight forward vs such players is the most +EV strategy against them.

GL, sir!

Both villains are playing their hand as an equity denial/protection line. There are times when you flop 2nd pair but x/r'ing is higher ev then x/calling, mostly bc of equity realization.

I can't speak to bena's flatting range mp vs. btn but I'd imagine his AQs are a >0% 4bet, removing some of those 3 combos post. Likewise, alot of his Qx post flop, especially the heart combos, want to play as check calls.

So you see when bena takes a x/r line, btn has like the nut best blocker/value combo (I guess A7hh would be nut best bc he also blocks an AQs combo and bc bdnfd, not sure).

I think btn would prefer 87dd over a hand like QJdd tho. Bena is repping 55/77/combo draws and perhaps a few Qx and a few hands like what he actually had (2nd pair+ bd draw). So by blocking 77 he narrows bena to essentially exactly 55 as value and perhaps a few Qx.

Now btn's flop 3bet is interesting, at first I raised an eyebrow but again I think its pretty good, especially with diamonds/clubs. I think if he had 87hh he'd want to flat a bit more (more good turns) and play as a pure bluff catch, not sure. With his exact hand though he chose to 3b, mostly for the same reasons bena check raised, as a value/protection type thing.

In a really dumb downed way of saying what both players are doing:

"Hmmm, I think my hand might be good? But calling down sucks and every turn and river sucks. Yolo"

I believe these types of lines originate from pio, although Tom Dwan and David Benefield (as well as many others) did this x/r 2nd pair yolo like it was their job (over 10 years ago )

(side thought, does pio x/r high kicker or low kicker combos for value/protection? Like would it want to x/r QJ or AQ here more?)

Re: Mastering Mental Game and Mental Health

^^ true, but, how can V call it off? He's behind Bena's entire shoving range except for the one combo he happened to show up with there.

Re: Mastering Mental Game and Mental Health

Don`t know why everyone has to complicate stuff like this, he obviously put him on 76 and acted accordingly

Hope to see you at a livestop Bena, but looking like I might be too busto GL on the grizzle, get `em back!
