"As of the date of this statement, we have made no decision to add additional assets to either GDAX or Coinbase"

Like I said previously, it's a gamble but i'm going to hold in the short term at least.
I just think you are underestimating how much they want to avoid the **** storm that would be unleashed if they added it in the near future after that statement. But it is highly subjective.

Don't mean to derail the thread but how do you guys see an edge in trading cryptos? I spent 6 months learning to trade indices in my first job after college before realising the guy running the program was clueless himself. With poker you can play X amount of hands and have a reasonable idea of what your expectation might be but with trading at least the way most people do it, you're still kind of at sea as to whether or not you have an edge because you don't have a big enough sample. Not meaning to criticize anyone trading as I don't have enough knowledge to make any conclusions.

From my understanding being new to the scene of crypto and trading, is that the majority of people do it wrong, just like the majority of people who play poker are losing players.

As for making money off cryptos, it seems with long term investing you need to choose the projects behind the coins that you feel are strong and have a solid use, which is why they say to look at the team, the tech, and the adoption when choosing a coin to invest in. As for trading, from what Ive learned in my short week of research is that you can turn a further profit on top of your investments by making trades based on swing patterns and any other relate-able info you can find to try and predict a profitable trade.

But Im a noob so dont take my word as gospel haha

I'm only just starting to work this stuff out myself but it's pretty clear that you don't need an edge - in this bull market you'd have to try to lose money. Everyone's riding a huge bubble which will eventually burst (although who knows how long this could take - could be a long time). Once the hysteria dies down and the market corrects, I suspect trading will more closely resemble traditional financial assets and having skill/an edge will actually be necessary. People who have/are investing in legitimate projects based on solid fundamentals will probably survive a crash better than others.

Just my two cents.

Hey man. Basically you are right. 90% people who think they are 'trading' right now are just pushing money around in this bull market and not systematically making money.

That said, it is a developing market with barriers to entry for the big players that make prices efficient in more traditional market, so there is still edge to be had. Couple that with the dumbest money in history of dumb money jumping on pumps and buying coins because each denomination is a low $ value, and there is money there. But the alt market at least is surely going to have a major correction at some point, so if you want to play the game, you need to know how to call the top (which most people trying to play the game absolutely do not have the ability to do.)

I think the best strategy is to look for projects with solid fundamentals, and expose yourself to them. As a whole, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect long term growth across crypto, so just developing a balanced portfolio, and storing it securely to expose a % of your networth to it is a sensible idea for anyone young. Hint, the best coins to invest the bulk in for the long term are the ones with CME futures market

TLDR; Most 'daytraders' are mindless money pushing fish who are going to get rekt at some point. Anyone saying moon, lambo, talking about close to any altcoin being undervalued is 90% an idiot. That said, the market is not efficient, it is possible to make money rn.

I mean I understand what you guys are doing/saying in terms of trying to protect the expectations and investments of people looking to invest, but you've said it before that this is probably the biggest bull market of all time. You don't need a long term investment edge in a market as inefficient as this one. You could literally cherry pick 30 ICOs to flip over the next 12 months, and would have to run so so bad not to make a ridiculous ROI.. That, or just lump money into blue chip Cryptos and let them accumulate. It's akin to saying 'nope, definitely can't sit this 5knl lineup with 5 Bill Perkins', because I don't have a long term edge vs the 5k pool.'

You don't have to try and call the top either; public exposure on these things is still relatively low, ergo they have a lot of growth potential before any kind of bubble effect becomes a significant likelihood. Just be a bit clever and don't leave yourself overexposed, but IMO you'd be pretty foolish not to take advantage of this very much once in a lifetime opportunity. Internet of things, and all that.

Yeah I'm not saying people shouldn't expose themselves to these things, would 100% recommend any young person to invest at least 10% of networth in a BTC heavy portfolio. Just saying pushing money around random alts is extremely dangerous when it's already widely acknowledged they are horrendously overvalued. Everyone is ALREADY consciously banking on greater fools in tons of coins, which is not the symptom of a healthy market. Tons of alts have absolutely horrendous downside risk rn.

I also think RE the ICO point, you are extrapolating the next 12 months from the last 12 months which is a dangerous fallacy, I can definitely imagine some black swan regulation on ICO's.

Like I said, I'm extremely long and invested in crypto in general and have been since 20$ eth, $400 BTC , I'm just somehow the biggest bear on here, which again shows you the state of the market! Don't get me wrong, there are still tons of people trying to sign up to all the exchanges so there is still money on the sidelines, but there is also the weakest of weak hands propping up current prices. It's widely agreed there will be a catastrophic sell off in tons of alts at some point, and you just cannot call when. There are a huge magnitude of potential black swan events which could trigger it with current weak hands, so pretending you can anticipate the top being miles away is dangerous imo.

as someone who's played both up to 100/200 my understanding is that both were filled with the same structure when rb was similar:

a spectrum of really good regs to losing regs and then fish/whales.

without rb on stars the majority of the regs on that spectrum had to drop down, quit, or move sites. So stars pools are now just the top % of regs that took the hit to their bottom line but live on, the weaker regs that are trying to stick it out by improving their game (hopefully for their sake), and way more fish/whales relative because the fish to reg ratio has skyrocketed since the changes.

party on the other hand took in a ton of those weaker/losing regs who couldnt handle the change to the stars rb system, into player pools that were already not great in terms of fish:reg ratio, and now they become even more saturated by regs than either site was in the past. Add on top the number of bots that party allows to run rampant and yea, you get a pool that's probably tougher to beat in terms of WR than on stars currently.

thanks mate! bluecollarpoker described the reasons very well. Until party has consistent player pools + regulation over botting i'll be sticking with stars. Begrudgingly i may add

How many hands are considered a decent enough sample to get some insight into a players true win-rate at that stake in Zoom? Also what kind of win-rate do you think is needed to start shooting for next level? I've not really played Zoom since the old FTP days but have been dabbling again recently and have to say Im really enjoying the freedom that comes with cash. Not being stuck at your PC for 8-12 hours feels amazing!!!
