So this is a first. Playing a live timbey and jam river vs this guy who folds. I put my cards to the side so the dealer can gimme chips. And a random ****ing guy on the other side of the table reaches over and turns one of my cards face up...

Why do I get angled every time I play live?

So I ended the day third in chips with 104k. Will be going back at bb1k. I legit didn't put a single foot wrong yesterday - haven't felt as comfortable at a poker table ever in my life. People play soooo face up it's not even true.

A couple hands of interest.

Hand 1

UTG - has just sat down at the table - this is his 4th hand and he's raised the other 3. Likely recreational
CO - spanish reg who has been playing very snug

bb@200

UTG opens 400, i 3b to 2k with AhQc in MP and CO cc, rec calls
FLOP (~6k) - Qh4hJd
check, i bet 2800, reg calls, rec folds
TURN (~11.6) - Qh4hJd Jc
I check and reg bets 4k leaving 11-12k back. I have him just covered

What you wanna do? What do you think his range is? Do we range check turn? Do we range check flop? If we call turn what do we do vs river jam?

Hand 2

This one was enjoyable vs rec/reg/thing/lad/shouter/annoyance

CO - just joined table and has 4500 15bb total
SB - all of the above with 100bb, I have him covered

CO opens a full 3x at bb300 to 900, SB calls (lol), I have KQ no diamond in the bb. I decide to 3b to 2200 so that when shorty goes all in i can rejam if sb calls (which is a fairly likely result). Opener folds and sb calls

FLOP (~5500) - Qd9d7h
check, i bet 3800, snap call
TURN (~13k) - Qd9d7h 3d
check, i decide to bet 6600 to check river, he snap calls again
RIVER (~26.5) - Qd9d7h 3d 9s
check, i end up betting 875 lmao, he snap calls and mucks when i show

Gunna grind online today but overall just take it easy in preparation for tomorrow. Back is killing from the garbage chairs, why they haven't got herman millers in the casino is beyond me.

Was cool to finally meet bigA and a few other online guys. We all got chips!

vamos

Not saying it’s acceptable but my boy Flong was on your table and said the guy who turned the card was some fish/Rec who plays with us who has literally no clue of what’s happening.

Not defending it and obviously annoying for you but it was likely meant in a harmless way.

Was nice to meet you too bro, hopefully we all run good tomorrow!

If he has played at all then he shouldn't do that, fish or not.

Heard a rumour it was mixgrill and he whispered in your ear ''meet me in the car park on the next break 24/20 *****'' to which you apparently replied ''I'm too old for this nonsense''.

we definitely don't have to, but i don't think we have much of a range advantage. My flop size wasn't really small - 40%, which suggests i'm not cbetting the flop for full range.

thanks!

yeah, i wasn't mad, i was just super surprised. I explained it to the floor manager who gave the 2 hand penalty, and whilst i thought it was too soft, i didn't argue it.

There was a reg (maybe your mate) who was saying i needed to get over it and stop complaining, even though i legit barely said anything.

Good luck today and see you later on!

First two levels finished. Started off really rough with losing half my stack. Got in JJ v AQo and lost. Then moved table and won AT v A5o all in itb for like 28bb each. I now have a bit over 80k with bb1600/200.

Pretty sick 2 levels.

Limp sb 1600, I iso to 4600 with 75cc. Flop J48r, check, I bet half, he calls, turn 6hh Mastering Mental Game and Mental HealthMastering Mental Game and Mental HealthMastering Mental Game and Mental Health he checks, I bet 2/3, he calls, river Kc, he checks, I shove 65k into just over 50, he calls fairly quickly with 86

That was pretty dreamy.

Moved table. Got in A9 v A5 for 20 something but and after 9h in the window he makes nut flush which was super tilting.

Then utg opens 3500 bb1600. Old guy calls I squeeze QQ otb, utg calls then old guy SNAP goes all in for 100k... I tank fold and he didn't show. Happy with the fold in hindsight.

I now have 145k with average at 100k. 80 left, 30 cash.

Table is trash now but we'll break soon

Because:

1- Old withered grinder answer:

Most live players are scummy, stupid, or likely both.

2 - Benefit of the doubt answer:

Because its a really boring 2 card 30 hand/hour game and most recreationals do not get entertainment solely out of playing it. They get entertainment from sports/women/talk/antics and actually playing cards is just one small aspect of their Friday night outing in the card room. Alot of them sincerely dont realize how some of their antics could be bad, this is because they are obviously bad at cards and do not think...which is a good thing.

I've been playing live over 7 years and I've seen so many incredible games killed by rules nits its one of the few things that still tilts me in poker. Very good live players (there are probably less than 10 total, I've confirmed after thinking about it) get this and basically dont ever call the floor for anything vs recreationals.

Your situation is different as its a tournament and also a fairly big offense, so I'm not speaking to it directly, but to overall how I think we should go about handling rec players doing rec things.

Years ago it was not uncommon for real whales to be in games doing real whale things, like blind 20x straddles, blind all ins, etc. That doesnt really happen anymore, in large part because poker isn't fun anymore. I have seen many a good game killed by the floor getting called in spots where a great player with no ego would let it slide.

Again, this is speaking towards cash, and mostly just me rambling as a PSA. Its too late though, those games are long gone.

Good luck in the tourney.
