4b with KJ seems bad IMO.
ty for feedback. yeah KJ is obviously a loose 4b but as blakkman said

Because of moving i missed the whole tournament unfortunately I head ronnie was playing absolutely unreal and that he made a sick comeback in the final to win. Can't wait to be able to tune back in to the frequent tournaments!

river is pretty gross but kinda correct punish for raising the flop, not the biggest fan of it tbh, lacks a bit of a plan is on all spades and T J Q K A turns and rivers imo, you can barely win stax anymore

Spoiler:
Not sure why you think raising flop is that bad. It's certainly a hand we want to be raising some of the time

So yeah that K6 hand has clearly brought up a lot of difference of opinion. I looked at the hand in more detail and as dg4 said check calling the river is actually decent. In game i felt that betting achieved much more because we can get called by all his nfd combos that don't shove river. However, he will obv have a ton of other busted flushed that will wanna jam to a check.

Since moving i've played one session (just now) and i was so bored after 300 hands that i quit... Lost 3 buy ins at 200nl. I haven't really been checking the lobby all that much but i've heard that stars games have been out of control awful so yeah, i guess i gotta up my volume elsewhere.

The flat is starting to look really awesome - makes such a huge difference to a space when you have all of your own stuff in it and can make it yours. There's still a fair bit of unpacking to do (mainly my gf's clothes and art materials) but i suspect it'll be all done by the end of the weekend. Will put up photos when it's done. As for grinding i've ordered 76mb fibre internet but it won't be installed until the 2nd march. The dongle i'm using is really playing up so even when i do grind i get close to no seats. This is probably contributing to the lack of motivation.

Will be playing live in central london tomorrow night with smitdude, sniper_arnie and c$shmoney87 if anyones around!

Only pot from today.

I don't think the games on stars have been bad to the point of being mentionable. Can't speak for 6max, but at 100nl+ fr, games seem fine.

I'd be interested to hear what you think about villain's play in the TT hand?

Yeah, i can't really comment for 100nl as i haven't played any, but certainly midstakes games have been scarce to say the least. I'm prob being over dramatic though

The KQ hand as villain is definitely ok sometimes but as blakkman said below there are some other combos that would be more favourable to x/r than this one. gl mate!

Had a chilled end to the week with seeing clients and slowly getting the flat into shape. Had a migraine for three days which sucked big time but i've been feeling good the past couple days. Put a couple smallish sessions in - internet is still garbage and i'm finding myself with very little motivation still.

Results from today

In other news D7 JVL and I went out for a meal with some poker players last night. We met up with Chappolini, a mid stakes crusher, the old timer super boss FMyLife and endboss Scarface.VLT. It was a ton of fun with great food and company - awesome to hang out with guys that i used to rail at the high stakes games back in the day!

We also semi booked a football match vs Chappolini and his team so updates to come on that

Hope to close out the month with a couple more solid days!

That 9T hand must have hurt Can't really comment on the JJ to much hand bc not a mid stakes player but from my PoV guess it's good to balance your semi bluffs (no flush blockers is good) if your opponent calls all his floats and 9X hands and doesn't go to crazy on rivers when you check.

Suspect we want to do a lot of checking on A turn, V has so so so many more Ax than we do (assuming you 3b AK/AQ always AJs always mix AJo/ATs), don't think there's much protection value either with 1 card to come and only 2 overs, neither of which are in V's range all that often.

Edit: by 'a lot of checking' I mean bet like 40% of range big and polar

haha yeah the 9T hurt a great deal. Your assumptions are decent, althought the last bit wrt to people not going crazy on rivers when you check isn't good enough reason to do something. It's either higher EV to do one thing or another regardless of how sticky it may become

Thanks for the feedback joe. I actually ran the hand today and betting turn is slightly our highest EV option. Even when tweaking the ranges to be more realistic it still favours a bet.

                      Monthly Results

Been a low volume, running above ev month. I feel really happy that with the huge amount of stress this month has thrown at me i'm on the other side with some profit and well settled for a big March. I'm fighting the urge to think about running above ev by so much because i know these things have a way of evening themselves out in the long run. Have to see what next month brings!

Isn't what you do with JJ in this spot sensitive to range construction ie exploitability reads? In my admittedly ignorant attempt at a sim while EV of betting JJ was very slightly ahead of checking, the sim favoured a mixed strat of Bet to check close to 50:50. (using RIO pro Shifftyy's ranges from a recent vid for independent view). Betting too frequently weakens our checking range. Checking too frequently weakens our betting range.
