I don't really make a decision to turn it off. I just see the therapy stuff as an equally important as poker - investment of time and effort equals output.

I still have the urge to play, but I know that when I have a whole load of other things going on in my life, I find my attention isn't where it needs to be to play in games with players who have that edge over me.

And also probably cus i've been doing this weird routine for 7 years so it's become normal to take prolonged periods off! You find it difficult to take breaks?

Maybe different personality types or something? I know when I was at uni I was rushing my work as much as possible so I could spend my time grinding. I'd end up doing the bare minimum on assignments to spend as much time playing as possible. I managed to do a whole semester at uni without attending class once because I was basically addicted to poker lol :|

Then again I was doing pretty easymode undergrad stuff and my heart was probably not quite in it, whereas I was very much drawn to poker. I suppose for you your study stuff has a lot more importance to you whereas for me it was pretty much just something that got in the way of me doing what I really wanted to be doing with my time.

Yeah, it may well be different personality types, but I remember being exactly the same for the first few years of poker - paying people to work my shifts in a restaurant so I could go play £10 rebuys at the casino

Definitely relate to the not having your heart in something which leads to lack of motivation. I've never been one to do stuff that I don't enjoy.

Febuary results

Barely anything to post about because I was moving and didn't have internet. Was basically break even, but with the leap year last day of the month, I basically just popped off. 20 hours for the month ain't the best, especially when 8 of them were the past 2 days

Really settling into our new place and finding my life rhythm again (will post some pics when everything is where we want it to be). I also managed to write a good chunk of my dissertation - I'm now roughly halfway through, but I have another 10k words on top of the remaining 7000 to write by June 10th! I'm taking on two new mental game clients this week with the hope that by the time the two podcasts I'm doing come around, I'll be well-positioned to take on new people/reflect on how it has been so far.

Stake breakdown

March is absolute knuckle down season in every aspect of my life - really looking forward to it.

gl this month, and I'll post here when I have the dates of the pods/time for hh's and grafs.

Won't be grinding tomorrow cus I'm playing a football tournament. It's the same one i played a couple years ago - a Twitch event. My mate peter804 owns an esports company (endpoint, check them out), and me and smb have been asked to play. Super hyped!

Hopefully have some pics or vids from the event.

yeah the recreational in question is pretty well known too, and not one to completely blow up like that either!

For those of you that follow me on ig, you'll see the abomination that was the football tournament. Cliffs are, our team was medium-good, but better than the team we had when we won it 2 years ago. The only difference was that apart from the original game of throw in boys (me 804 and smb) no one really wanted to put in any kinda shift. Unbelievably frustrating. With my reaction mid game, no one would ever come to me for mental game coaching or therapy lmao.

We got to the round of 16 but got sent packing after a 5-0 demolition.

Past two days of grinding has been pretty swingy. Made a nice unstuck tho

Hey Bena. I saw the 'no comment' disclaimer but I'm still wondering if innerpsy's xr ott is really that bad as it seems at first glance (flop seems out of line, too, sizing-wise?).

Would you mind sharing which parts of your range are going to continue vs such a weird line ott? If you don't want to go into details (understandably so), could you at least tell what's your plan with 66-99 there? Are you checking most of them behind or betting vs his check?

Would really appreciate any kind of thoughts on this hand from you.

I gotta tell I'm not innerpsy's friend but we know each other by being in the same Russian poker community and I told him on a messenger that I think he played the hand pretty poorly vs you because such a line in my opinion can only be used as a greedy exploit vs weaker regs and incredibly hard to balance out vs tougher ones such as yourself. He then disagreed and ran some sims which showed that there are *some* rare occasions on which solver puts TT in the xr range ott. Even if it is an option, I really hate the sizing.

We need your comment to solve our dispute, haha.

you reckon its a fold though after his turn c/r and especially his sizing?

also, you used to open very small like 2,05bb, did you increase it to 2,4bb or is this just because you had TT? if not, if like to hear your opinion on the larger opening size UTG?
