Its just variance, man, chill out for a bit and go back to crushing. Also with that much profit you had its not like you are going through some hard times with money.

Gl! Never give up OP!

HELLO! This'll be a little bit of a TLDR i imagine, but there are some pics so maybe just look at those and gimme a post so i know you're still here.

Handed in my last assignment on monday which was a truly awful process - i had to make numerous changes to my original research proposal (the one about poker and psychotherapy). It failed the ethics committee because they perceived my attending Gamblers Anonymous meetings as unethical. This feels reasonable upon reflection. I had to change the whole premise for the piece of work and my new title is "An exploration into affect regulation by a Professional Poker Player in Psychotherapy Training – An autoethnographic enquiry".

Here's a little snippet so the title makes a bit of sense:

There appears to be an apparent conflict between playing poker professionally (PPP) and psychotherapy, both
from my subjective point-of-view and the literature around gambling in
psychotherapy. Although mostly quantitative, there are some studies that brush my
research question; working with gambling addictions, but none that explore
individuals that are healthy and successful in their relationship to PPP while it having
impact on their psychotherapy training in other ways. The intention for this study is to
acknowledge that there is good reason for the pathologising of gambling in the
current literature, but also to bring forth my own experience as a PPP in training and
suggest that there may be an additional perspective that has seemingly been
overlooked.

A way of doing this could be to focus on careers where emotions are shutdown
(perhaps lawyers or stock brokers) and in turn, pathologised. This will hopefully offer
the ground for me to share the nuanced intricacies of my own experience as a PPP
whilst also giving more of a breadth to my literature review.

I'm so pleased to have it in. My last oral/viva exam is this coming sunday @12.30 and once that's done i'll be finished. I can't actually do any more prep work for it now. That means full-time poker again, although i'll continue seeing clients once a week for another couple months to maintain clinical hours.

It feels completely bizarre that i'm finished with uni. The last day was really emotional too - to say goodbye to a group of people that know me better than even my own family or best friends is a significant loss. Really hope to maintain some of the close friendships that i've formed. Other than that, myself and a couple uni friends organised a leavers party which was so much fun. Beer pong, DJ, food, nerdy Freud posters dotted around haha. It was a blast. Here's a pic of my main crew at uni - i'll be going into private practice with two of them after the last year of my masters in 2019.

Then the world cup happened. Here are some of the boys in Hyde Park for the Semi's. It was carnage when we scored, and then very grim when we lost haha

the past 3 days were spent in Edinburgh visiting my boy D7 (check out his PGC if you haven't @ https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/1...-back-1702907/
We basically just had beers. ate great food, played games and went on a hike in some absolutely stunning scenery.

I guess i should put up my results from July too. Even though the volume was extremely low because of uni stuff.

Not much more to say really, apart from I will have fallen behind the curve and i'm going to be on a strict PIO, study, grind schedule from now on to get back where i need to be for the coming year.

Year is looking very meh but the worst thing is that people seem to generally be making significantly less money than ever before. I'm interested to see how things pan out in the poker world. Especially with the potential lowering of table count on stars etc.

And here are my welcome-back-session results

As if you blagged tickets to Hyde Park. I ended up in some rando pub in Camden, where some proper Brexit lads decided to kick off after Croatia scored the winner which didn't simmer down till the game was all over.

Congrats on finishing Uni for the year must be a huge relief!
