I love how Daniel spent (tens of) thousands of dollars so people won´t look at his (poor excuse for) hair and yet every time I see a video of him, all I can look at is his hair. It just looks so, so weird.

As much as i dislike Negreanu's staunch defense of anything Amaya does, it's poor taste to make fun of somebody for a physical characteristic beyond their control. Also, call me crazy, but the money he spent on his new hair seems to be money well spent. It looks a lot better than it did 5-6 years ago.

Maybe not the worst as I wasn't literally breaking things but I was rage quitting and doing as bad as I could imagine overall psychologically. Things have improved drastically over the past 12 months on and off the felt. People change, though and I've changed a lot over the past handful of years. Chess used to relax me, intrigue me, and keep me awake for as long as I sat there. Poker would tilt me, confuse me, and the study was tedious. Now? After battling with Intertops to get my withdrawal and then dealing with some IRL stress, I took a week to play some Chess again. I can't do it. I love the game but it gives me anxiety, it's impossible to not play too much speed chess online, it makes me terribly hungry and irritable, and at the end of the day I feel like such a degen because no matter how well I did - Nothing tangible was actually accomplished or gained. So, I turned on some online poker about an hour ago and immediately: Calm, comfortable, relaxed, better mood and outlook.

I'm 36 now but I realize here pretty definitively that I'll never go further with Chess at this point. I couldn't imagine showing up to play a long tournament OTB but I could most certainly imagine sitting in the casino playing 2/5 all day and night. Poker has really changed the way I approach things on and off the felt and I can't think of one change that hasn't been for the better.
hey man, thanks for taking the time to write this post, really interesting stuff. it's undeniable that poker has brought a great deal of happiness/functionality to many people, including yourself. Sounds like you have a pretty all or nothing attitude, which while is a blessing if you wanna succeed in this industry, could also be a curse in ways too.

Hoping it continues to give you the former though!

So i am alive, but the nightmare deadline took a lot out of me tbh. I've basically played no poker for 7 weeks. I have one more deadline on the 10th July, and then a viva type thing on the 22nd. So i will be playing a bit, but obviously that takes priority right now.

For when i do properly finish, I'm gunna need to get back hard on the study, pio, etc, as i'm fairly certain i will have fallen behind the curve. Would not be the first time though, so i got no worries yet.

Will play a session tonight.

I didn´t critizise him at all for things that were beyond his control - I´m balding as well, so who am I to judge -, but rather for what he did to "solve" the problem and how it backfired. He could have taken it like a man, but I´m guessing he is looking to sell a "young, fresh" image due to his huge Amaya contract. Thing is, he looks like Howard Cosell, except that the technology has improved quite a bit.

That post sounds like you have 0 confidence in your game atm. How could you feel like that when you have a 500k hand sample where youre crushing the toughest games in the world by 5bb/100?

Its just variance, man, chill out for a bit and go back to crushing. Also with that much profit you had its not like you are going through some hard times with money.

I haven't followed this thread much but do we have a sun runner losing his mind at the first hit of real variance? How big is your dw relative to your sample? Sounded like you were crushing for ages and losing it when its time to inevitably give a chunk of it back.
