I always thought there wasn’t a European skin for bodog? What skin were you playing on and when/why was it recently blocked?

I’ve seen a couple guys from the UK or other parts of western Europe talk about being in the bovada pool and I must have been mistaken about thinking euro’s didn’t play on there.

Hey, just curious how you find the other sites you have played compare to Stars at NL500+?. I think a lot of guys stay on Stars as its easy to get hands in and convenient but not sure if its worth it if you're not getting those 40% rb challenge things that everyone seems to be getting. Cheers.

Stars reg tables are fine, maybe a bit too much mindless battling imo but not so bad now that rb is back. Personally I just time out all the time though on Stars and am prioritising playing elsewhere with better rb/ slightly worse opponents still.

Crossposting a quick update from bitB discord, 2021 so far:

Yo guys, figured I'm probably due some kind of update here.

I've been kind of online/ grinding a lot less for the last couple of months, and probably the least since I started working properly on bitB I guess.

This happened for a few reasons:

1) I was actually struggling with overload a lot, really not keeping up with playing/ studying/ coaching at high quality.
2) I'd burnt out a bit just playing none stop for so long in the COVID period and not taking time off/ enjoying life too much
3) Everything started to open, moved back to Vienna and got a way better social life, and often there were just things I'd rather be doing than log on and play.

I've actually really enjoyed life these last months in Vienna, just such a big community here, so many days chilling and swimming in the Danube, climbing, running, and think it's actually really good to let poker take a back seat when the weather is good and the mood is high. I guess the flipside is that it's grinding it out in the colder months and the lockdowns which allows me to do this and not feel toooo guilty.

I also found that at least in study and coaching sessions, I'm thinking more clearly about the game than ever before. Maybe a combo of giving my brain time to unfog from just endless grinding, and going to breakfast with LL and Markus every day probably doesn't hurt either. I'll definitely be back on the grind properly after August and looking forward to it.

Results YTD:

Disclaimer that I have no idea how accurate these are, match roughly with my lazy cashier calculations, but not sure what's going on with rake and bomb pots + EV on party just doesn't work with h2note for w/e reason.
GG results completely unknown and don't have the hands but think somewhere from $10k to +$30k after rb and selling for the higher games, will calculate properly at the end of the year, definitely lost a lot in real terms but mostly at 20k/40k.
Also the 200nl hands are accidentally in my database from a student, not mine!

+ probs 15k rb? something between 200 and 250k I'd say, managed to do reasonably well on crossbooks on markus/LL/Darrell HU matches too + some good money staking so can't complain for 7 months work with 2 months part time

Also got to take a sick trip to the mountains with 464, LL, Makeboifin, and Mayo, couple of pics from this and last months in Austria:

last few months have been going reasonably well, think last month was a best one for me in $$ so obviously x posting my post from bitB here

Not much to say really, ran like an absolute god at the start and was obviously imagining the 300k special, but got John Mcleaned back to earth at 20k
Still overall insane to be playing these games/ this average stake now, I still remember Darrell posting a 20k month two years ago and it seemed like a mythical idea to me, hitting my first 10k month after I quit my job and thinking things couldn't get any better than this.

Although poker has gone well and feel like my EV is higher than ever, taking the spa trip with my gf also made me realise a few things.
I think day to day playing hs even super overolled is just very stressful, and in general when our house is poker only so much of the time it does get kind of toxic/ overwhelming in the brain.

These three days with no computers, no poker genuinely made an insanely huge difference to how I was feeling. I think it just emphasises that it's not healthy to hammer out insane volume at any stake, but particularly not at super highstakes. And also obviously as everyone knows, money doesn't = happiness and it's important to remember this when you choose what to do every day.

I still love poker, enjoy studying and coaching at a high level, but I think I'm done with forcing myself to put in the super long sessions for whales etc next year, just not worth the mental stress it causes me. @Rayjing shared a quote with me recently:

"Never risk what you have and need for what we don't have and don't need. In pursuit of our goals, we inevitably give up things that matter."

And it really drilled home for me that sacrificing fundamental things like exercise, sleep, diet, time with friends for a bit of extra EV is just really not the way to go. We are privileged to be in this position, but sometimes don't make the most of it.

I will balance that though by saying the only reason I think I got to where I am in poker is because of sacrifice. Not exercise and sleep which I was always fairly strict on, but I definitely had a worse social life than I would have otherwise in these years when covid was happening and I was climbing up the stakes. In a way I think that it's fine and I'd do the same again, online poker is an incredible opportunity and a real shot at financial freedom for life is worth really going for.

But it's also important to know when to take your foot off the gas, whetehr that is because you achieve your goals or because mental health or something else more important starts to detorioate. Remember why you play the game and that it is just a game.

Anyway, this month:

$17,121 rb from my records so +$156,519
didn't have all my action at 10k+ so quite a lot less on my side, but still can't complain

Some pictures from the Austrian mountains too on the spa break:
