Sick results and an enjoyable thread mate. May I get to know how do you go about "Deep HH Review Sessions" you've mentioned in the first post of the thread?
I strive to improve my game, but don't really know how to review my own sessions.
Cheers

Hi mate,

Last few years my hh reviews have normally just been calls with other strong regs where I check if my thoughts about my gameplan in game were close to the equillibrium outputs, and if I think the other player will deviate a lot from equillibrium confirm that my exploit matches what my friends/ PIO thinks is a good exploit

Then if we are unsure of something we look into the library of similiar boards we have to clarify, or maybe do some subtrees/ node locking for different game plans and see if we can improve our original idea.

the community you guys have created is seriously admirable, not to mention, you, and the other coaches/students' ongoing results.

Really enjoyed the characterizing of the different chapters of your poker career too. Just goes to show that hard work pays off and laziness really does result in being pushed out the game for good.

keep it up lad! see you soon <3

Also forgot to post this one which I was quite proud of, on a random lockdown afternoon:

Usually not posting much but dedusting the account to say the last post was really good.

I think being as self-reflective as you were writing that / looking back at your career is a highly underrated skill for pokerplayers.

Best of luck and thanks for sharing!

Hey George,

Great post but just wanted to say how happy I am to see you crushing like this. You were always a good guy and I constantly thought you were better than the stakes/results you were pulling in back in the day (this is years ago and definitely not meant as an insult). Really nice to see you hitting your stride/potential and reaping the rewards. Keep it up.

Being a small part of the journey and seeing on a daily basis the grind youre putting in on/off the tables and with bitB youre every bit deserving of the success youre having.

One for the good guys, congrats mate

Thanks mate, inevitably in 3 years time there will be a lot of stuff I realise I had no idea about right now, but such is the journey I guess recognising how wrong I've been before at least allows me to keep a semi realistic appreciation of how much I probably still don't know

Thanks man, much appreciated. I think I've always been much better out of game than in game fwiw Execution always been a big problem for me, something I wanna think about a lot next year. Hope the dentistry is going well and you're still crushing.

In airports all day so guess I guess I'll do a kind of AMA; if anyone still reads this forum and wants to ask anything about poker/ bitB/ life, will do my best to answer

Congrats on half marathon.

I love to run however I love it a bit too much which has been causing detraining. Currently starting a program again which came with Garmins runners watch. Just the 10k plan first and hopefully completing the longer plans in the future.

Cheers and see you at tables!

Huge congrats on your success and journey, seems so well deserved!

First question that comes to my mind: what are your thoughts on RNGs? How often do you use it in game (especially vs unkowns)?

Thanks mate, was actually super proud of that one

Gl with the 10ks, getting a garmin for sure increased my motivation and long distance running is a really good complement to poker imo, kind of active meditation

Thanks mate

I actually haven't used an RNG for last few months since I got forced to use Aurora and lost starshelper, and know some of the best regs in the world never use them. That said I guess before this I had one for 3 years or so in all sessions

I think in general they are super overrated and stop you from thinking in depth about what the highest EV action is.

PIO will almost only mix when two actions are equal in EV.
In reality two actions will never be equal in EV, and your job as a professional poker player is to figure out the highest EV one and take it, especially at smaller stakes where the direction should be more obvious.

In some spots in the long run to play well I guess you need some form of randomisation (implementing polar cbet ranges) but can often use the card you are dealt first or your mood as a proxy, and only actually spin the wheel in the rare cases

I also think a lot of mixing in PIO occurs for reasons completely irrelevant in real life, EG if you pure cbet K8o and pure check K7o in a spot instead of having 50% of both it's completely impossible to imagine anyone will exploit it.

I think people use them as a crutch to avoid thinking about where EV really comes from and still feel like they are 'replicating PIO', and often see streamers spinning them even vs recs or weak regs which is clearly very illogical.

If the bitb coaches had a 100K 6-max cash game battle who do you suspect would win the most? (I assume there are 6-ish coaches, but I could be wrong. So let’s say top 6 6-max player coaches). You get the idea.

Haha fun one. Obviously no real clue but Makeboifin gonna win the most, FourSixFour winning too, Me Psek D7 surely losing in the 5 handed battle.

I think there is nothing special with his game.
Can check his stats and tell me where you are generating EV vs him if you have a sample. But even Mr Steffan1122 conceded this was a fruitless effort. If you are in a 5 handed battle and trying to win you need to have some game plan to extract EV from the other players.

If you have no immediate idea how you are going to tweak your gameplan to generate EV (which is where the big w/rs come from), then you have to just consistently be more accurate than them and generate passive EV that way.
As I live with him and talk hands every day I can be quite sure that his perception of what is correct is closer to equillibrium than mine So every few hand that's some EV loss, same with FourSixFour.

* When making exploitative decisions vs regs, are you using mass database analysis type stuff, or going off your perception of player pool tendencies, or using specific reads?

If you are making specific adjustments vs specific players, are these based specifically on showdowns of similar spots, or is the thought process more along the lines of "this guy doesn't know/study enough to get to this river with enough bluffs so I will fold my bluffcatchers?"

* How long do you think 500/1000 nl will be beatable for a decent clip, if you are willing to put in the work?

One more - would you say that the average 500nl reg is simplifying too much or not enough?

What would you consider as a decent and what as a good winrate on 100z/200z?

Do you think it is possible to reach 500z+ playing part time?
