congrats on your year mate, I always enjoy reading your updates - hopefully the podcast will continue next year as well as its some of the best poker content aimed towards grinders imo and find it a good source of motivation

Very insightful and inspiring post, cant disagree with any of your points (besides 8th maybe, 500z been softer lately, so probably just jump into the better pools?).

Pretty sick variance in the end of the graph, dont know if it feels good or bad to run this way

All the best in 2020!

really strong year george. i particularly enjoyed the bit about people mattering. Could not +1 that more if i tried. And also the sleep/diet/life over grinding that extra ev, so so true.

Hope you find a good rhythm in 2020 and hopefully you'll move down for some more bouldering action!

Take it easy and gl! <3

Missed this one, elected not to because have some charity stuff planned this year and felt a bit of pressure already with recent EV dswing.

Will definitely do something similiar in future though.

Thanks Rapi, truth is I'm humble in my best moments, but definitely guilty of letting ego take over at times too.

Writing like this is quite therapeutic and pausing to think and put thoughts down supports me in seeing things more clearly - long run I think being aware and humble as possible is the most +EV for life and poker - plus the fact that I basically had the worst EV year out of my entire crew helps with the humble side

Appreciated mate, definitely planning to continue the podcast this year, will aim for one in January.

If you're interested in similiar stuff, the Busquet one is very very good too, think it's called Two Lives.

RE 500z: yeah there are definitely some high ev spots, it's noticing when it changes which is tough and outside of A-Game I don't think i'm doing great in a lot of pools, definitely losing in some.

The variance was weird yeah, felt like I was running terrible situationally but then when you check and see how much you sunrun EV it's difficult to claim runbad. At the end of the day I try to not take too much from these 1-200k hand samples, and judge myself more on my thought process in study sessions compared to friends/ in game execution.

It's nice to post year graphs etc but I honestly would rather not share, think the results mean not much in the grand scheme of things even over 500k hands. But people love graphs, you have people claiming that pseks 80k hand zoom sample invalidates his 400k reg table sample etc, so for bitB business wise we just kind of have to be completely transparent about results - and advertising wise you are even incentivised to push obvious heater samples.

Again, even though I **know** a 60k hand month graph means nothing, my monkey brain cares a lot and if I see a friend downswinging something in me still says 'maybe they've lost it' etc, so I kind of get it. The human brain just cannot accept results don't = reality I guess.

Thanks mate, yeah you seem to have mastered the early grind along with Jose, I do still respect your results more for it because I think all things equal with tiredness etc it does reduce your EV.

This year I become a 7a reg too

Hey man, nice year. A million +1’s to what you said in points 2-6. You also do a good job of staying objective (and humble as others have mentioned) about your results, I think that’s underrated.

I go back and forth with the early vs late grind. Sometimes I will play tired and convince myself it’s not +ev for me, but then I’ll go and have a +8bi session from 2-5am in games I never see during the day. Overall I think it’s plus ev to play the night games too so until building capital stops being my #1 priority I’ll be staying up late.

The video was awesome, made me feel stupid for going and getting a nice regular camera rather than a drone.

Great video, sick mountain-side drone shots and very good doggo in the vid also

Congrats on the year George! Shame to hear the 1k shots didn't go so well but it just takes persistence and one decent run to make it stick (even if it is soulcrushing the multiple times it doesn't stick).

Best of luck in 2020!

Now seems as good a time as any to start following this amirite!? New thread for 2020?

Hit the nail on the head with that recap. It amazes me how many poker players completely ignore the diet/exercise/sleep aspect of things and just sit there clicking buttons all day!

I'd be pretty surprised if the guy playing 4-5 hours a day, working out everyday, eating right, and getting 8 hours of sleep wasn't making more money than the fat depressed burnt out guy playing 7-8 hours.

Big +1 to people mattering. I've learnt the importance of that myself this year with the amount of actual ***** spastic humans I've encountered in this place. :')

Gl bro will follow going forward!

Great results and it's awesome you're happy, traveling, doing what you love and around people you enjoy+care about in something you find intellectually stimulating, but don't you worry that poker is dead and you'd be better off in an openoffice 9-5 filling out TPS reports?

Ever think about learning to code?

I'm pretty sure there's a good chance this is a troll that just went straight over my head but just in case it's not, OP just admitted to having had a pretty rough year and still made way more money in (probably) way less hours from the comfort of his own home than people who fill out TPS reports did in 2019! Not to mention doing so in one of the hardest formats of the game! Poker is dead!

Eh how bad is filling out TPS reports? Skilled trades like electrician also pay a lot and not difficult to get certified in.

yeah it's hard because we obviously want life to be an easy, try harder, play more, win more kind of thing but poker just doesn't work that way.

lmfao nice try

------------------------------------

Quick January recap:

Went through this month feeling like I ran very very badly, so was pretty surprised to import my hands just now and see that I actually won a bit.

Still, a lot of things to work on. Living with Markus has made me realise how lazy I actually am in getting through all the minor spots I marked, and I definitely want to be more religious with scripting all my marked spots and looking through after sessions.

Average stake 400nl this month, which is much better than I expected before importing, so hopefully can increase this next month with a couple of new sites.

To reflect, I'm going to split into positives and negatives:

Negatives

- Poor EV w/r, albeit tiny sample
- Didn't review a lot of spots I marked
- Very low hands per hour at times
- 13.5k hands of 200z
- Diet extremely rotten

Positives

- Volume good given moving to Vienna and short holiday
- Improved a ton at 40bb
- Still EV sunlord
- Games v good

Managed to squeeze in a trip to a small Austrian ski resort too with 464, 464 gf, Linus, and klem90 which was a very good time. Skieed a ton of park, went sledging, drank beers, destroyed everyone at all board games

March is looking like almost a full month off for me so hoping to put in a major grind in February from Vienna, adding a few more sites to hopefully bring average stake up.

Also still looking to take a few new students playing SSNL for our new elite group at bitB cash with makeboifin and FourSixFour, both playing between 2k-10knl every day, pm me if you have any questions or are interested.

Pictures from recent mini ski trip:

Trip begins with me losing breakfast bill*3 to sunrunner LL, which he then martingaled into me paying for his ski pass. Classic hand to be dealt to make a PLO, holdem and one card hand on this flop.

Sledging after a few beers, nearly killed 464s gf in the process of this, knocked her off a ten foot drop into a frozen river (she did KO me into a ditch the round before in all fairness):

Linus finding some untracked European sites:

464 finding the bottom 5% of goggles:

Claudio Parchisio:

Glgl all for Feb!

Hey Mate

Ive noted u had knee surgery and well, welcome to the club

Did you ever hit the barefoot running lab? Slowly mixing in some barefoot muscle and movement training brought me great relief and at least some feeling of strength and security in my knee. For me it was a real Game Changer since running correctly without shoes takes so much presure away from the knee.

Just dropping this for the slim chance, that it might help.

Somehow missed this one - thanks man. Yeah I have somehow swung back to some later joke schedule again since posting this, I think it's more the mental strain of the uncertainty of playing B game that hurts me, even if the increase in game quality offsets the decrease in play quality.

Just playing worse and less engaged makes it so much harder to deal with swings.

Drone is awesome but definitely a lot of effort, if I didn't enjoy making these year long edits probably wouldn't be worthwhile.

Thanks man, it's actually not something I tried! I basically only run 5ks now and touch wood my knee seems okay for this distance. I've heard amazing things about barefoot though so maybe I'll try this summer when grass is warm enough to run on again.
