Hi guys, I'm George - you-mad-br0 on Pokerstars, and work with BitBCash.

Last year I ran a challenge where I gave 25% of my December winnings to charity. It gave me a lot of motivation, inspired a couple of copycat donations (shoutout 464), and resulted in about £1500 going to the Against Malaria Foundation, buying 757 mosquito nets.

This year, times are tough. Brexit is upon us, the Bitcoin price is down, and even Amazon is 20% below ATH. Therefore I've scaled back my generosity somewhat, and will be giving 10% of all my December winnings to charity..*

For those of you who love graphs - you are out of luck, as I'm currently on a career high 2 week stretch without checking results, and am not intending too break that even for PG+C. I can guarantee a graph at the end of the thread, and can give you this accurate representation of my 200z graph for clarity (4-5bb/100ish this year?).

To pacify the angry results seekers, see below for a picture of me free diving in a cenote in Mexico this year:

Finally, I've spent a lot of time over the last months helping to build the infrastructure required to make BitB cash truly the best place to learn poker on the internet, shoutout to Pads and the BitB tourney guys for a lot of ideas, and hopefully can share some stuff about the exciting developments we have there too in the thread.

So - goals for the month:

- 65k hands
- 4* PIO Study Sessions with friends/ BitB guys
- 4* Deep HH Review Sessions
- 12* Gym Sessions
- 50m Underwater (breathholding goal - one I've been struggling with)
- 20km running
- 4 New BitB Cash Members
- Stretch

I will be playing on stars 200z a bit, and some euro sites. I plan to update regularly with hand histories etc, and maybe some short live play videos. Maybe not so much recently, but when I first started out twoplustwo was a big help to me, so if anyone has any kind of questions about playing poker professionally I'd also be happy to answer them.

* on a serious note, I also plan to play a lot more this December than last year, so hope to be making a bit more money.

Any tips how to avoid checking results? I am already happy when I do not check results for one day. I failed miserably at all attempts to not check results for longer period and even searched the internet for some kinda of script to hide PT4 while playing. Would appreciate any advice.

Im not the OP, but I really suck at not checking results. One thing I like to do which helps is in HEM/PT4 make a report which does not include your $ won. This means if you get the temptation to look at results you can still see W$SD, WWSF, preflop stats, hands played, hours played etc without seeing your actual results.

Productive start to the month:

Plus 3*database review sessions with separate students, and started to fix a pretty big leak in my own game.

Up in 8 hours for 1st PIO group session of the month. For various reasons, I've got a drive at the moment that I haven't had for a while with poker, long may it continue.

Some hands:

Vs 3 recs. Absolutely robbed of $200 here:

Sometimes you just know:

Hand history converter seems to be broken, and I don't want to out anymore sns, so will figure out how to anon them tomorrow and post some spicier ones.

In my opinion PIO is too expensive for 5/10nl. Instead I'd say best value at the moment is to get a Run It Once Essential membership and watch how good players (read - basically just psek on essential) play their range, and try to understand why they do what they do.

It's a never ending battle. I agree with Patrick on building a report without any result metrics in there, and just have a tick (EG for me it's jump up and do some pull ups) for every time you feel the urge outside of a session. This is the longest I have gone without checking and I have tried many times, so might not be the best to give advice.

Thanks for the advice mate. I already did this. My report doesn´t show any $ stats. Even in the graph window I changed all colors to white so that I can not see if I am winning or losing. However when running extremely good/bad during a session I always reset the colors in the grapgh window to default to see how I am doing.

At least I know now that I am not struggling alone with this leak

Glgl. Do you do much scuba diving or just free diving? Where would you say is the best places you've dived in? I got my open water recently and can't get enough, planning a diving holiday in 2019 but not sure where.

Day 2 down. Great start to the day with a PIO review session and then to the pub:

Had a few beers, a huge chocolate cheesecake, and was ridiculously hyped after the best Arsenal performance for years, so was really struggling to grind. Went for run #2 of the month to refocus:

In the dark and on the beach, so I'm actually pretty happy with my running flow at the moment. I think a bit of 5aside has done wonders for my fitness.

Played a few sessions to reach acceptable volume:

Hand converter still broke so boring hands as I can't anon regs and post their spew

Vs rec:

Vs thing - just completed a chest and was about to sit out, usually guarantee to lose these:

Finally, I need recommendations for a good fiction book. Been reading all non fiction this year but fiction is way more idea after a late session. Re-reading the Alchemist at the moment, but open to anything - remember two years ago I posed same question to PGC and got recommended the Hyperion series which was seriously unreal, so expectations are high.

Two other things I would note:

1) It's not necessarily optimal to not look at result, I know a lot of top pros who check graph every few minutes as the stress of not knowing is worse. You have to find what works for you. For me, not seeing results is the best way to play each hand objectively, and works as a kind of virtue signalling to myself to stay disciplined.

2) Imo graphs are the worst of all. Much better to just see ev/bb or even winnings. Graphs just add a narrative - 'I was up 1k and now I only made $500' etc, and just allow you to indulge the noise and swings.

Yes mate, realised I had made more from poker than consulting in the 8 months I was in it, and after the rapid learning at the start I really wasn't taking a ton in self development either, and the bureaucracy was killer. I definitely learnt a ton at the start though and trying to bring some of it to BitB cash plus future ventures with me now - and also a nice lesson to see how the rest of the world lives.

I also hope that playing 30k hands, doing 2 hours of coaching, and having a social life with 50 hour work weeks this year, will keep giving me the drive to not relapse into my old lazy poker self.

Another 3k hands today, month is looking like this volume wise:

I'll get some results at end of the week so the thread doesn't get stale

Also went to the gym today, leaving monthly goals at:

- 65k hands 11k
- 4* PIO Study Sessions with friends/ BitB guys 1 down
- 4* Deep HH Review Sessions
- 12* Gym Sessions 1 down
- 50m Underwater (breathholding goal - one I've been struggling with) did some mild exercises today, did 35m fairly easily but didn't want to push it
- 20km running 8km down
- 4 New BitB Cash Members
- Stretch

Off to Edinburgh tomorrow to catch up with D7, probably stay until Saturday, so volume will be reduced.
It also looked somewhat sunny today so I took the drone out to the beach for a spin. Unfortunately it was actually 2 degrees, so I'll leave instead with some pictures of warmer times in Tynemouth:

Looking forward to more hands and banter on the tables, gl
