Weekly Update

I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend. Sorry for the delay in updating again. I started the week well, but ended pretty poorly. I think one of my coaches jinxed me.

The month is still going well and I'm confident in my game. I just have to keep grinding!

Weekly Update

This week didn't go so well at regular tables. I enjoy playing them, but I have to block off a few hours to play since sometimes it takes awhile to get on a good table and once you get one you don't want to leave. I still want to put more volume on them though. It's like playing MTT's in a way.

At the end of the month it will be 3 months with my new CFP. I have an opt out clause I still have to decide on. I'm not sure if I want to stay or leave yet.

3 days left in the month. I hope I end it strong!

Would you say that the bitb CFP is beneficial for somebody playing 50NL/100NL and trying to move up? Do you have the feeling that it is worth to give around 50% of your profits (compared to the possibility to study by yourself with the material offered on training sites and solvers)?

I was thinking to apply for the CFP, but heard always different opinions about the quality of the program.

I applied a while back for BTS CFP, however getting 3 hours of 1:1 coaching every 100k hands didn´t seem worth it imo. Not sure if it is the same at bitb.

Weekly Update

I was waiting for Pokerstars to send me my hand history request to update my monthly results so it's accurate, but they seem to be slow this month. So I'll update that hopefully next week.

Tough week again. Coaches keep saying it's bad luck. I find it hard to believe. I suppose I just have to trust them.

I've been playing some 50z recently because for some reason at night EST when I usually play the volume has been really low. Usually there is always around 100 players at 100z. Anyone know whats going on?

Weekly Update

I had a pretty good week. Not necessarily money wise, but I identified some areas I can improve and clarified some confusion I had in my study process.

I'm curious to see how the pools will be with SCOOP. Everyone says it will be better. I think there will be less players because they will all want to play mtt's. We will see!

Weekly Update

Low volume this week. Started to feel my mental game slipping so I decided to take the last few days off.

Again, I noticed a couple nights 200z had more entries than 100z. I listened to Pokerfuse's podcast this week about The Stars Group Q1 meeting and they were talking about the decline in volume and new deposits. So wonder if this trend will continue.

Spent some time in the lab during my few days off. This weekend is a long weekend in Canada so I might enjoy it and then get back at it on Tuesday.

There is a slight decrease noticeable at 100z even when you are playing at euro time zone. However, at evenings there are still easily 150+ and during the day 100+ entrants.

Weekly Update

Pretty good week. Not as much volume as I'd like, but not bad considering I took the first two days off to study and take a small break.

I decided to change my approach to the game this past week. I'll talk about it more later. I want to see how it goes for a few months first.

Lastly, I'm going to put in a lot of volume this week to try and hit my 75k hand goal I had for the month. I'm slightly behind schedule. Hopefully the small run good from last week will continue!

Weekly/Monthy Update

The run good did continue from last week. At least at the start of the week. The rest of the week however wasn't so good.

I thought I posted my May goals, but apparently I didn't. They were:

- 75k hands [X]
- 15 hours of PIO work/week []
- Watch 1 poker video a day []
- Focus more on deviating vs recreationals [X]
- Discuss hands with friends daily []

Overall I feel like May was an ok month. I didn't hit my volume goals or get the results I was looking for, but I solidified my game plan which was something I was really struggling with recently.

I've learned from a lot of coaches and studied a lot of content. What I've found is everyone has a different style or philosophy. So when I don't see the results I'm looking I wonder is the way I'm playing/studying the best way?

That's why I joined bitB. To solve this problem. To find people who are playing higher, learn how they play and study and then do that too. Then in theory I should eventually get the same results. Also, I can use their big sample as proof their strategy works for my confidence until I have results on my own. But the reality is they haven't really helped with that. They have helped a bit recently, but it's mostly been me trying to figure it out on my own.

Instead of waiting for stars support which has been pretty slow over the past couple months, I'll just post my results now. I'm still struggling to have that really good month at 100z. I know it will come soon.

June Goals

A couple of my friends and I committed to a 90 day all out game plan for the summer. Our goal is to be playing 200z by the end. I think we have the right process/plan now so as long as we work hard and stay consistent there is no reason why we can't be there. My goals for June are:

- 75k hands
- Mark hands while playing to review
- 15-20 hours of PIO work/week
- Discuss hands with friends daily

Let's have a great summer!

This should be the main purpose of the CFP deal. Maybe you should reconsider your deal if the coaches are unable to help you here. Especially taking into account your slight negativity in the last few posts respective the provided coaching program.

If you look through my last few weekly updates you might think I am copying and pasting the same graph. Start up finish down. I swear I am not.

Not much else to say this week. Didn't put that much volume in as I've been studying a lot, went out to camp and been watching the Raptors in the NBA finals. Lets hope they beat the Worriers this week!

Yeah, we are trying to work something out. I want to be clear when I say they haven't helped I am not saying they haven't honored their coaching. They have done everything they promised in the contract and they are all good people. Unlike the first CFP I was in. I just feel like I haven't had any breakthroughs or improved as much as I had hoped I would.

Weekly Update

Hey guys I'm honestly at a loss for words. I just can't seem to put together a decent couple days let alone a week or a month. It's getting extremely frustrating and I'm not sure how much longer I can continue to put time into this game.

I'm not one to complain. I'm usually very strong. But the lack of progress over the past year is starting to get to me. Especially since I am a super competitive person. I think I was shooting 50z for the first time probably in the spring of last year.

I got back into poker in the fall of 2017 because I missed the game while I was in university and starting my businesses and I thought poker could be a way I could make a significant amount of money over the next few years to help expand my businesses and invest into other things. I knew it was going to be a challenge, but I didn't expect it to be this hard. Especially since I was already somewhat familiar with the game playing mtts and I consider myself to be a fairly smart person. I knew I couldn't get to the top alone, so I found coaches who played higher and tested lots of different strategies. I just can't seem to put it together.

I sometimes wonder what if I just put the time and money into my businesses instead of poker how much further along they would be. Was this past year and a half worth it? I'm not sure.

I also started this blog to be an example that it's still possible to move up through the stakes in 2019. So for the people starting out they can see it's still possible. I also wanted to post about the good times and the bad times so people can get a more realistic idea of what it's like to play poker. Most people just update their blogs when they are running well so it gives people an unrealistic expectation on what playing poker is like. Also the internet is full of fake people and information. Now I'm thinking if it's so hard for me to at least beat 100z or get to 200z how would the average person be able to win at poker if they started today? Maybe I'm still just missing something and I will eventually figure it out so it will be easier for the next person.

I committed to 90 days with my friends so I will continue with that. But beyond that we will see. This is the last 115k hands or so since I moved back up to 100z from 50z. It's not terrible and it's a small sample, but overall including 50z I'm still not where I want to be. I know I can't control my results, but it's time to start seeing some results for the work I've put in. Time is the most valuable asset we have in the world and I can't keep wasting it for nothing.

Who knows, maybe we will look back at this post like we look back at the Doug Polk 2+2 post from back in the day. Time will tell.

If this is about money it really makes little sense why you are playing on stars when you can be playing on Ignition. At least putting some volume on soft sites would make sense.

Fortunately for me, I am in a situation where unless I beat 100nl or probably even 200nl the money doesn't really matter to me. Obviously it's nice to win, but since I don't need to rely on my poker income, my main goal is improving and putting in volume. I think Stars makes the most sense for that. Also, if I could beat Stars I can probably win anywhere and that's when I can game select on some other sites. If I just wanted make money there are probably better ways for sure, but that's not really my goal right now.

However, recently I admit I have been thinking what if I did prioritize winning money over trying to be the best. Would I be happier? Probably. So maybe my approach isn't the best. I do play live at least once a week. I love it and my results are great. Where I live the games are really good. I have experimented on some softer sites, but the software and low volume make it tough.

I just feel like if I was seeing progress and results, I wouldn't feel like this and I would be ok with my current approach.

I really didn't want to update this week. It's getting embarrassing posting these graphs. But, I made the promise good or bad I would update every single week. When I finally figure things out this will definitely be a good story.
