I'm a 36 year old carpenter that's married with children that has been playing poker as a rec player for 5 years. I'm a winning player that has cashed a few dollars here and there. A couple of day's ago I cashed out my first check for over 1k and now I want much more. Now I got two goals for poker.
FIRST GOAL: Make 5k by Jan 2017 for a trip to Hawaii
SECOND GOAL: Make over $20 an hour so I can take the family to Mexico in the winter for a month or two and still make money. I love the sun and Canadian winters don't have any.
My game of choice is 0.25-0.50 full ring no limit but I'm willing to play any game that helps me reach my goals. I'm also looking for poker friends cause I don't have any and I want to get better. Also I'm interested in finding a coach that's willing to help me through a profit sharing payment plan. Not looking for a stake.
One last thing I've never posted on a form and I'm not good with computers, I only use them for NBA highlights, poker and porn. So please be patient.
REASON I LIKE FULL RING:
#1 It's a lot easier to multi table for me because you play less hands than a 6max table.
#2 There is 9 seats at the table so I think there's a better chance to have more fish at the table.
REASONS I HATE FULL RING:
#1 It's way more nitty
Should I switch to 6max? Should I switch to PLO?
I find sometimes when I play 6max I just spazz out. Does this happen to anyone else?
Let me know your guys thoughts.
+ $120 today.
+700usd since the start of the thread. That 700 American is like 10 000$ Canadian. I haven't updated in while, been way too lazy. I started playing a little 100nl and games seem the same as 50nl so I'm going to play a little of both stakes. I don't think I've improved that much since the start of the thread. I've watched a couple videos but that's it. Still looking for someone to coach me for a share of the profits, anyone interested.
Anyway I've got to change a ****ty diaper so all the best people.
Not going to let this thread die. Up 2000.00 since start of thread. Played a little PLO while on vacation in Mexico. If I have to switch games 6max PLO would be the game.
If you're looking to improve, 6max is the way to go. It forces you to play more. You might be uncomfortable for a while but your game will improve. All you're really doing is removing the three worst spots in a FR game. You're right you won't be able to play as many tables for a while.
Good luck steallunchmoney, I have similar goals and I wonder if it's possible to actually make money long term with poker without just luckboxing a tournament.
