so absolutely ****ty running at 200 results in us going busto on our shot taking ev buy ins stop loss. that went out fast. pretty frustrating to grind out 40 buy ins at a stake in a good volume month to dump half of it in less than a week while shot taking the higher stake. i know i've not been mistake-less while shot taking but running so awful doesn't help to play better and i'm not so sure i've been playing that bad at all, but oh well !
last 2 days
This afternoon i went and tried to motivate myself to play 100 to end the month. couldn't win a pot, still ran uber bad so i decided to quit.
Initially wanted to go on and set november goals today but i just don't have the head into poker right now after such a mess. Going to concentrate on sports betting the next couple days and see what i'll do for november poker wise afterwards.
H1: guess we can fold riv v 200 reg, just find it tough cuz there's so few combos beating us if not only JJ cuz i'm not even sure he has all the TT combos in his range given positions. doesn't have 99, 66, JT combos...
^
Pretty sure the reg in the first hand has all the 99, TT and JTs combos in his range there; trust me, I've figured out his game a long time ago
His only bluffs would be the T9s combos here I would think
Brace yourself, you'll get there eventually.
Chin up bro
I guess i clearly misread villains range then, snap fold it is
yeah will be thinking it through in the next few days if i believe in myself to get to 200+ soon enough or if i don't consider it to be worth it, we'll see
i haven't played in the last few days to take time and think how i wanna do it going forward for my poker goals and such. Made the decision that i will be going back to 100 right now and try to grind back what i lost at 200, shot take 200 when i feel like it or am comfortable and happy with my game again. Lost a bunch of confidence about my game that i need to regain...
Thing is i've been roughed up at 200 and didn't feel well about my game at all, it affected me emotionally and in other parts of my life(i.e. sports betting) and i can't let that happen. i question'd my ability to beat 200 and in how much time i would be able to reach the stake, if it was worth it etc cuz beating/staying at 100 clearly isn't in my plans, it's move up or stop for me so i had to confirm if i want to put more time into poker in an attempt to move up and reach the higher stakes. i think it's worth it and i'll give it more time, how much i can't tell but i will start by taking it month by month, goals by goals
SO !
November/December goals
- win thirty 100 buy ins
- go back to shoting 200, play 32k hands there before december 15th
- keep poker results from affecting sports betting/emotions
- no particular volume goal at 100, just to reach the buy in goal + i want to play the most a game possible and improve
So i have agreed with a friend that 50k hands at 200 is the minimum i should have before considering i'm really not ready for 200 or get the tendencies etc before thinking shoting was a failure, and i had 18k hands there in our last shot so 32k hands to go, before december 15th.
I'll be taking at least a week off around the 15th of december to go to alberta where i'll be able to study but won't put time into playing. Main idea would be to be at 200 officially once we're coming back from said trip
i'm considering i'll need around 11-15 days to put in 32k hands at 200 since we'll be 3tabling so i have to reach the 30 buy ins at 100 before the end of november, i think we can do it, just have to stay motivated.
where in alberta are you going? cash games are super juicy here especially plo fyi.
anyways glgl!
tyty
initially thought about canmore since it's pretty close to banff and not too far out of calgary but since it will be christmas and all we thought it might be better to be closer to the city and it's less than a two hour drive from banff anyway... so we're renting a house for 10 days in northeast calgary. not really a big fan of plo tbh but thanks for the tips man ! might move to alberta for 3-4 months to grind online after the winter so it might come in handy to hunt a couple places to live grind for fun lol

You got this
thx bro !
in non-poker news...
i should be able to get back to soft sports by now after my knee surgery and should be able to do everything in 2 weeks, can't wait !
also had a big bet on the cubs last night and i have a rule to not watch games i have big bets on unless the result matters to me in a non betting related way(aka i cheer for a team)... checked mlb.com late as i thought it was over and saw the score and that it wasn't over, i was like ok i guess i'll make an exception to the rule on what looks like a sick game so i finished the game, it was sick and worth it(obviously always feels better when u ship lol).
Also saw a live stream of chicago's streets after the game, it's funny cuz i went to chicago in 2015 and went to a game and there is like no space to celebrate or cheer in the streets nearby the stadium, it's so small and was so awkward getting out of there after a reg season game i'm pretty sure i would have been mad as **** if i had to get out of there last night lol. also i hate insane crowds.
Month so far...
not quite the volume of the year, i've played some hands at 100, others at 200(very little cuz i rapidly quit when starting sessions feeling uncomfortable about my game), even played a small sesh at 50... not running super, actually think results are decent given current running. all of my aipf's are KK v AA type of stuff or AK v AA but that kinda stuff happens so it's w/e.
regained most of my motivation tbh so that's one thing going for us, although i still have confidence problems while playing which keeps me from optimal play and A game.
Preflop: Hero is CO with A A

not much to do in canmore and banff other than winter things. it was a good choice to stay in calgary, you have a ton more options.
I play live in calgary so if you need any advice on where to go let me know. if you do end up moving here for a bit pm me and we can maybe meet up. id love to learn how to be an online crusher
subbed. i'm am grinding the small stakes zoom so it is always inspirational to see fellow grinder beating it
i see that you use the 1/3 pot cbet sizing most of the time, even on some wetter boards...i am very curious to this approach as it seems to be the norm at the MS/HS games as well, probably derived from solvers? and really interested in knowing when to use 1/3 pot and when to use larger sizing like 50%-60% pot
Unlucky start to the month, but no doubt in my mind that you can turn it around.
That AA v AA is ***** brutal, I don't think I've ever had that :/
GL!
yeah let's turn this upside down, tyty

bunch of good reasons to cbet 1/3, i sometimes misuse/overuse it though, it can be tricky, sizing is pretty important tbh
So, i want to at least play 2k hands a day on average, play more when i have time and feel well, take some break days in the month, keep A game most of the time and 3 table so we can play the best we can. might add a 4th table when i feel bored or w/e. Today was a good day, i was motivated and wanted to pull in a nice sesh and it turned into results.
was pretty happy with my play today, didn't station, didn't overbluff, found the right spots to bluff and they went through, starting to regain some of my confidence !
H1: oh runouts, 1/3 flop, x turn and evalutate riv seems better but this guy is a station v 3 barrels so i thought i could get value out of a bunch of stuff by 3 barreling here but not sure about reasoning there
River: ($87.54) 9 (2 players)
UTG bets $60.18 and is all-in, Hero folds

Final Board: 7 3 8 6 9
UTG mucked and won $85.04 ($42.02 net)
Hero mucked K K and lost (-$43.02 net)
H2: weird hand, don't feel like this particular villain is jam bluffing this river there somehow despite draws and ****all sizing all the way down, idk it's f*cked up lol.
River: ($51.50) 9 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $78.30 and is all-in, Hero folds
Spoiler:
Results: $51.50 pot ($2.50 rake)
Final Board: K 3 4 5 9
BTN mucked and won $49 ($24 net)
Hero mucked K Q and lost (-$25 net)
back to 30 buy ins to go at 100, gl us
also i'm working on a tattoo i want to get on my forearm - i don't know yet how to fill in what i want to add - which is mostly this one with couple of stuff added(two words and a particular date), what do u guys think ? - this one is max domi's, an NHLer who's also a T1D
oh, and a little break from graph posting! i'll be shuting down result checking for a week once again, hopefully it goes as well as it did last time !! gl us
thought i played well today, ran w/e i have no idea what the results look like. Played like 4.5k hands or something so i'm happy with the sample + my game.
River: ($54.50) 6 (3 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets $11, CO raises to $89.76 and is all-in, Hero folds, UTG calls $20.83 and is all-in
Spoiler:
Results: $118.16 pot ($2.50 rake)
Final Board: 2 4 Q 8 6
Hero mucked Q J and lost (-$18 net)
UTG showed A A and won $115.66 ($65.83 net)
CO showed 5 6 and lost (-$49.83 net)
Sample is ****(also have 7kish hands on my laptop at around b/e) since i haven't played at all from friday to sunday. Just mainly bad routine, no training since friday, unhealthy routine, watching too many tv shows and movies, not going outside enough, etc etc. Also, i'm sunrunning sports betting right now so i don't have the motivation to work on B plans as much as i did when i didn't win much/at all for a while... All of this has just sucked out all my motivation and has me very sleepy/tired all day which isn't optimal for a poker sesh so i didn't play. I have not played today but i plan in doing so later after i go to the gym tonight most likely.
Results also ****, ran meh, still not much confidence so def not playing much A game... been breaking even for like last 10k+ hands after kind of a straight downhill stretch. Hard to motivate myself but not looking at results for a while kind of helps as i worry less so i'll keep doing that i think.
For confidence reasons i also played 50z at times, i know it's dumb much but i just felt like a 100z loser at times so i just didn't feel like playing 100z and getting crushed by players i don't consider good lol. anyways, it's mostly 100 still though
gotta force myself back into a good routine now, i'll do another complete week at 100 w/o looking at results and see where this gets us. Not quite on pace to reach 200z on time right now so main goal is to gain my confidence back, play well and then i might come back to 200 before i reach my previous goal of 30 buy ins(aka for december w/e happens results wise if i gain my A game back)
goal this week is to play 20k hands at 100, let's see where this gets us glgl
i contacted a v good mid stakes player for coaching this past week and was very hyped of potentially working with him but in the end i just couldn't pull the trigger on a 12 month deal because of the future of poker being too uncertain right now. Also, poker is just one of my potential B plans so if it doesn't work out as i'd like, i want to be able to just change to another B plan(start a business) and put a bunch of time into it asap so i don't want to be locked up into a deal if stars just dies/kills rb or else... i feel like i might regret it but it's just so bad of a timing for me sadly.
so i'll just keep going by myself, see if i can reach 500z withing my deadlines while keeping an eye on the future of poker.
i'll try to post HH's after my sessions this week !
