February, all 200z

Feels good to be back on the winning path.

E-mailed Stars yesterday and got all my HHs from February e-mailed to me; I was missing about 2-3k hands I think because of the replayer bug and HM2 not tracking the hands.

Obv, heating a lot. But also, definitely playing with more confidence than I did in December-January.

Took the first day of the month off to play board games with friends and sweat the NHL trade deadline.

In the afternoon, we played RISK. We started as 4 players and we decided the game should end as a draw between 3 players cause it was just taking so damn long. I really enjoy this game, planning ahead and such, but it's very time consuming and we literally would need a whole weekend to play one game from start to end I believe.

In the evening, we played The Resistance: Avalon which now ranks number 1 in my board game list.

As poker players, we can relate to this game so much and use our reading and leveling skills to our advantage.

I could play this game a thousand times I believe with the right line-ups, and never get bored.

Anyways, here are some HHs

Lol you guys would be surprise... I'm not that crazy tbh... or am I???

Month is going meh atm. I've been playing both 200z and 500z. Not checking results for now though.

500z is tough, as expected. It doesn't help that I do stupid stuff every now and then lol. At 200z, it's rly infrequent that I encounter a spot where I don't know what to do, or what I should be doing w my range w respect to my holding.

At 500z, these spots come up like crazy. Regs put me in situations that I'm not used to be. Sometimes, I feel on top of my game, and other times, I feel completely lost lol...

It also feels like I have the biggest target on my back when playing 500z lol. Had the same feeling when I first started playing 200z. Getting 3bet and played back at a lot. Slowly adjusting myself and my game but still very uneasy playing there.

I just need to follow my game plan and I'll be fine; stick to my strat and not tilt.

I've also noticed a lot of regs being salty as fcuk. I get berated in the chat every sesh or so lol; not the friendliest of pools. Oh well...

Plan on playing both pools during the rest of the month. Will reevaluate at the end of March.

As for real life, me and my friends have been playing a new card game called Coup. It's really great as it involves a lot of aspects of Hold'em, like repping some card or having blockers to other people's action. It's really nice and obv, it incorporates bluffing.

        https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/131357/coup

Also, will be gone all summer on vacations (well abroad, but grinding at the same time), part time alone, part time w friends. Will give some more details before I leave.

Anyways, won't post HHs from 500z for now. Not that comfy yet

had the same feeling like u when i started with nl500. A lot of spots where i am not sure what to do or what sizing to use, and in some situations i feel like players are playing too aggressive and targeting me. For sure someone is gonna be more aggressive vs u if they see u as new player but also it is selective memory.

after some time it will be fine and things will turn around, or u will get tilted, destroy your mouse and get back at nl200

You mentioned that you struggled with 6max cash games in the past and considered yourself a b/e reg, can you tell what was your breakthrough point in your game as a nl50 player on stars.fr? Thanks.

Hey, thanks for your input! It's nice to have some feedback from a grinder who's been in the same situation before. Fwiw, I know the feeling well. It took me forever to establish myself at 200z and felt like bait over there for a long time...

I think it's also important not to level ourselves too much in these situations. Keep playing your game and ranges, and do not disrupt from strat unless proven otherwise.

                Easier said than done though...

You mentioned that you struggled with 6max cash games in the past and considered yourself a b/e reg, can you tell what was your breakthrough point in your game as a nl50 player on stars.fr? Thanks.
Hmm okay. Well, basically, I had a good win rate at 50z fr, but in the end, I saw no future for the game and for myself as fullring zoom was dying and becoming more and more unpopular.

So, I forced myself to learn and play 6max. It took me about a year and a half to get from 25-50z to 200z. Idk why, but I had the hardest of times adapting my game to 6max; I still consider myself mediocre in a lot of 6max spots but I've improved a **** load ever since.

There wasn't really any breakthrough pt. I became "good" at poker a bit before last summer. That's when I finished uni and started playing full time. I used to talk a lot of strat w valee; that definitely help. I would sweat him every now and then too. Same thing w theproksa with whom we sweat each other almost weekly.

I also coached one of my friends and he got as high as 200z before he stopped (lumiere on 2+2, he had a pgc).

I also changed the way I was thinking; learned to think "outside the box" and act as if they were no boundaries. Also, one thing that is primordial in order to get better and grow, is to always question yourself and what you're doing. Is there another way to play this hand that could be better? Was that sizing accurate here w respect to my range? Could I have bluff this otr since it's the bottom of my range or does my line make no sense?

Other stuff I did was read every 6m pgc 100nl + and try and learn from what the OP was saying, hand histories he was posting, etc. Other than that, RIO vids are cool to get in the mood for the grind.

One other thing; I like to "observe" the pool that I'm shooting at late at night before going to bed while watching a show and look at the regs' line and look at the pool tendencies and try and get a feel for the game.

Last thing; I would suggest to anyone that is playing seriously to go and build their own ranges. I did mine over last summer while trying to establish myself at 200z, and it really helped. I would test my new ranges, go and play for 2-3 days, and then, would adjust the parts that didn't seem to workout. Then back at playing/testing the ranges again.

                Hope this helps,

                GLGL

                Cheers
