Hi There Guy's!

I haven't spent alot of time on the 2p2, but this is like the third day in a row where I've wanted to start one of these, so why not eh!

If you've ever spent some time in the low stakes sngs, we've probably crossed paths. I used to be a "professional" low stakes sng player, being one of the top earners at the $16stts (sick brag i know) with the likes of rainkhan, spacegravy, sippin criss, abarone and other sick grinders that I can't remember atm.

I'm 36 years old. I live in the boonies of British Columbia. I have a wonderful family, and I still have the poker dreams I had when I was 23, winning a sh**load of $$$$$$$$$$ in a big MTT.

Despite having some piss poor results and volume played over the past few years, I'm feeling hungrier than ever to make some magic happen in this wild game of no limit texas holdem.

My goals are going to be really simple, except for one and I hope for once in my life I can stick to a plan.

1. Volume : 850 games a month with ~85% sngs and ~15% scheduled mtts
2. Profit > $4000
3. Fly to Vegas on June 1st and win the WSOP Big 50
4. Update this thread regularly and make it fun

I made this op off the cuff and if there's interest I can get more into my story in future posts. I welcome all readers, comments, and questions

GLA, and have fun grindin!

Great first day, up $190 with hot $22 left
played ~ 25games ; had to work today and do family sh** which i love
don't get me wrong, hence the sub pace volume

earlier today I got a 6th/ 274 ish in a $33turbo for $354
busted a flip 55 vs k8 for 25% of chips in play
I called a button shove from bb, standard umm hmmm
i love them french fried pateters

crucial coin flips, what can you do

had to run good to get to that point, boohoo

i'm drunk on the whiskey, can you tell?

poker is so much fun, life is great!! I'm just so glad I don't have to take this game as seriously as I used too.

gla!!

I don't usually drink and play poker often, but when I do, I usually lose. Not last night!

I usually block my account before or after a couple whiskey pops, kinda glad I didn't.

Took a runner runner beat in the hot22 but cashed.

Decided to fire one last turbo mtt deep in the night. Somehow got 4th for ~$230
at 130am. TT < A7 for most of my chips, if I were to guess it was about 30% of chips in play, oh well, can't complain

So far a massive 26 games played with $435 profit

Got a quick 12 game set in this morning

Managed to win a $2.50 -180man and get 5th in a $15demand for close to $100 profit

so far, 39games played and $523 profit

I get monday/tuesday off, plan on puting some decent volume in, but honestly not entirely concerned if I don't get on pace or quite hit my measly 850g goal. I'm more concerned about playing when I'm feeling "it" and giving it all in every single game I register.

Also pretty stoked I get to play some turbo series events tomorrow

gla!

Lately I've had a problem with drinking. Here I am again playing some mtt's with too much whiskey in my stystem. I've already had to backspace 3 times

Thankfully I'm disiplined to not fire bigger games than I have the ev talent for
in my drunken state

Maybe I suck compared to you all
idk

All i know is i'm not scared to lose, and i love to play
and hopefulllllllllllly one day i get that score, baby!!!
whether i deserve it or not

all i want is to build a life for my family and open up the time and
options to do what i want to do

poker used to be way easier back in the day, but thats ok

we're off to a good start in some weird makeshift challenge of mine here
aiming for low volume and avg roi to try and take some .01% shot at financial freedom

game on

all i want is to free as much time as possible to raise my daughter and have fun in life

I think sub consciously (sp?) I'm trying to embarrass myself into being a better person, if that's even a thing. I used to be terrified of what ppl thought about me, clearly not the case anymore, however I still want to get my sh*t together

I had no idea what i even wrote on here last night or what I even played. I lost $50 ish and deserved it.

I just did a quick tidy up and found 7 empty bottles for a total of ~8 liters of whiskey since the end of October. I hope I can man up and stop being an idiot, because that's ridiculous.

Absolutely zero drinking for the rest of Feb is now part of my challenge.

Ok, time to crush some turbo's!!
I got big hopes of surpassing my 4k goal today

gla!

Been playing my C+ to B game for the past 24hours or so. Not very happy with myself.

108games played so far .

Need to play 40 or more today to get on pace,
which will not happen because I'm a little tilty after a 5th / 420 ish bob
in a $16.50 turbo for ~$260 and 1st getting a little over 1k

10k big blind. BVB battle. I call it off with the ATs and QTs rivers me, boohoo for 35% of the chips in play

Had to run lucky to get to the ft. Pretty much standard for any tourney I guess.
So my logic says I can't complain, but my emotions are like f**k that 75/25 bool****
lol

I'm like 0/7 in turbo series events and 0/3 in sattys to mid-large stakes events. Don't really want to figure the math on it, but prob stuck like $300 alone on these.

Silver lining, still up $325 for the challenge. Wooo!!

Anyways, I love me some Tuesday night mtt action. I've been fortunate enough to f.t the $22 super tuesday three times in the past year. But unfortunate that it was like 5th, 6th, 6th for mediocre money

Gonna get my daughter from school, take her to martial arts, and then grind out a $22 super tuesday win please and thank you

Been forcing the volume a bit, just been playing for the sake of playing. Told myself a million times I wouldn't do this, but then I do it anyways like a moron

not sure on exact totals but something like
155games
-40 overall
~600 downswing
yey, doin the happy dance

played like shi* and ran like shi*
those 2 seem to go hand and hand

I always find a positive in these situations.

I started Jordan Peterson's self authoring course.
Heard about it on theo von's podcast. Use the promo code theo to save a few bux.

This guy is brilliant. I don't understand alot of what he lectures on, because I have
the vocab of an 11 year old, but what I do just speaks volumes to me

He just has a way of speaking the truth in a very non egotisical way.

If you've never heard of the dude, I highly suggest you look him up. He's been on alot of podcasts, has his own youtube channel, etc.

.............

Found out I'm going to be off work early mid April and coincidentally enough there's going to be a WPT deepstacks series where my mom lives in Edmonton. So I'm hoping I can convince my wife to let me bring my kid and let me play the $1100 main event

Live poker is my jam, if i could, i'd play casino tourneys every single day. However the closest card room is like a 3.5 hour drive away. Probably a good thing despite my crazy live mtt roi, which I don't have accurate numbers on, because I wasn't the best at keeping track, but if i were to guess on my totals lifetime in live mtts under $600 buy ins is probably :

$38,000 to $42,000 profit on $15,000 to $17,000 worth of total buy ins

Biggest score was 15k in a venetian deepstack $350 buy in

250% roi is totally sustainable right?

..................

anways, my challenge is on hold for a few days at least, just gonna spend time with my family and work on myself in the mean time. Really digging this course. It really makes you look in the mirror and call yourself out on your bullshi* . Kind of like this thread

gl to my 48 lurkers

feel free to chime in, call me a fuc*face or something. feels like im talking to the wall here

Thanks Ac3sWild!

I 100% agree that I need to cut out that nonsense. I rarely play with booze in my system. Maybe I was looking for attention or liquid courage to keep posting in here, idk.

All I know is that I recently discovered how much I enjoy the whiskey, and it's a bit scary to me, because I come from a long line of alcoholics. I really need to wrangle that potential disaster in now. Not saying I'm quitting forever, but like make it a once a month thing.

Looking back on my drinking history, it's kind of sad, because there was a good 2 year stretch around 2013-2015 where I didn't drink at all, but probably had a beer or two at a friends house or something.

Anyways, this thread has kind of turned more into becoming a better person challenge than a micro poker challenge. Which is great. Because I actually woke up today not thinking about poker, but what am I going to learn

It was nearly 80 degrees Fahrenheit here in north Alabama yesterday!

Good luck to you! I'm always a sucker for a good "win my way to the WSOP" story so I'll be following you. Where do you stand now?

Thanks TuscaloosaJohnny!

If it's 80 in your winter, your summer's must be insanely hot eh?
110-120?

I was off to a good start in my challenge and then all my profit went poooof! haha, but lots of time still. Regardless of how this challenge goes, I'm most likely still going to play that Big50 tourney I would just like to make a decent chunk to play with down there, for warm up and/or for after depending how that tourney goes.

LOL, I think that's Iraqi temperatures. No, it was unseasonably warm at 80. Average summer high is in the low-90s with high humidity. Very sticky and uncomfortable.

I obviously made some wild assumptions then haha
Figured if Vegas could get that hot in the summer, then Alabama could too

Btw, I just bought your book, I look forward to reading your story

Update:

228 games played
+$24

Playing slightly better since last update. Obviously this is subjective, and clearly I play way better when I'm winning the monies lol

Got a 20th last night in the Big 27. My usual pattern of going card dead in the final few tables. Finally get the AJ in the sb, facing a shorty jam from the cutoff. I iso for most of my stack and obv the big blind wakes up with AK.
Shorty had 33

Got ~300th in a 22rebuy turbo series event. First cash of the series, woowoo! Lost 2 crucial pots with kings. Knocked out jamming 8 bigs in late position with Q8s vs KJ vs AK

Just bricked my first set of the morning, but feeling fired up to win some games today!!

Yesterday was no bueno even though I was feeling great. Felt like I was playing great, just couldn't win my fair share of all ins, what can you do.
Lost ~250

My best and only real cash was a 2nd for $120 ish in a $7 on demand sng, 93 players registered
Was one of the craziest games I've ever seen unfold

Massive chipleader established 8handed after he knocks 2 players out
KK vs QQ vs JJ

Next deal same player
AA vs JJ

He had ~65% of chips in play at this point

I type in chat, "I'm ok with 2nd place" lol

I was literally heads up with this guy 6 hands later
11-1 chip deficit

I don't know if I've ever seen a run like that within a 10 hand span

.....................

Anyways, getting off to a bit of a later start today.

I really could use a heater and get this challenge back on track!

Haven't been super motivated to play much in the past week. Volume goal is going to be a giant fail this month.

Today (Monday) is usually a day I get to play as much as I want, but it's "Family Day" here in British Columbia , possibly all of Canada, don't pay enough attention to care lol So I won't get many games in today. The ones I do, I better make count!!

Yesterday I had a semi deep run in the $22 double duece on my 3rd bullet.
252nd of almost 18,000 entrants
So close yet so far
Had 3.3 million at one point, which is still less than 1% of chips in play

Dropped down a bit after losing a couple small ish pots with TT and 77
Shoved all in with 55 in lojack for 11 bigs and big blind tank calls KJo and hits, blehh

Anyways, going to spend some time with the fam and then hopefully get some games in later today

However, not even close to being on target

smh

I played outside my bankroll on sunday because I rarely get to play on the best day of the week.

Satty'd into the warm up and missed the money by 2 spots, losing a flip on the river. That min cash would've put me close to even

Fired two bullets in the sunday milly , no bueno.

I cashed out some monies out of fear of spewing it off
Wouldn't be the first, second or even third time lol
..............

Yesterday didn't plan on playing, but spontaneously reg'd the big44 while watching "the best picture of the year" , Green Book. Good movie, but probably top 3 weakest best pic winners.

Anyways, long story short, had another deep run with the potential of turning everything around......

Crucial coin flips don't seem to favor me in the final two or three tables of a tourney.

I three bet JJ on the button vs cutoff to ~23k and he auto jams 120k and i reluctantly call it off, because f*** jacks. I was pretty confident he didn't have QQ+ based on how quickly he shipped it. Ace king gets there for the chip lead and ~15% of chips in play. I was left with 3-4 bets but couldn't charge back.

Satty'd into the big 215 which lasted maybe 30 hands
QQ < KK

..............

So now I'm stuck with a micro roll , horrible BRM , and delusional thinking.

I'm either going to make some magic happen with ~$170 and 20 chests or
i'm blocking my account for a period of time, and this thread dies for good

Wish me luck
