So I've decided to keep track of my progress at the live cash game tables for the month of May here at 2+2. I play £1/£2 at
The Empire and
The Hippodrome in Leicester Square in London with the odd trip to the £2/£5 table if I feel it's right. I've played live poker regularly for about 10 years but have only reached a decent enough standard in the last year. Yes, it really has taken that long. I am a winning player but now need to work on "crushing" the 1/2 game.
Things I Need To Work On:
(1) Being more aggressive to get maximum value.
(2) Losing the minimum when clearly beat.
(3) Not overplaying premiums after being card-dead for over 4 hours.
(4) Betting or raising preflop more often (especially in late position) rather than limping or flat calling.
Things I'm Already Good At
(1) Table selection - I'll always switch tables if I get a bad feeling about the game-flow or my oppponents.
(2) I rarely go on tilt.
(3) Bankroll management.
(4) Adapting to and reading most opponents.
Goals
(1) To qualify for
The Empire cash-race (requires playing about 22 days in the month).
(2) To make sure I update this thread every day.
(3) To play for about 120 hours in the month.
(4) To play my A-Game everytime and to always make the right decisions.
The Challenge
I first thought of going with a financial goal in line with the hourly-rate that's continually spouted out as the norm and that we all should be making on a regular basis (but which hardly anyone actually does in the long-term): i.e. 10 BBs an hour = £20ph. But I haven't reached that "crushing" level just yet so I'm going to lower that hourly to a more modest and reasonable target in line with my skill level. I'm going with £13ph. 120 x 13 = £1560. I'll round this down to £1500 and state that as my target.

It's the 1st May on a bright Sunday afternoon. It's bank holiday Monday tomorrow which means there's no excuse not to get a lot of poker in. The first trip report will follow. Please feel free to ask me any questions or make comments.
Let's do this:
