My poker career started with live games and I have been crushing them for the past 4-5 years. I started putting more effort in online during the online covid boom when there were no live games running. April-June I ended up putting 150-200 hours a month online and ended up making 47k+rake back. I ended up burning out right when the live games started picking up again. My online volume went way down and I ended up tilting some profit away ending the year up about 42k online.

With the live games in my area still kind of slow and meeting a new friend that is working his way up the stakes online, I ended up finding a new enthusiasm for online poker. I started off kind of swingy mainly do to not having memorized preflop ranges. I would 3bet or call pre to wide and ended up getting to the river with weak showdown ranges. I ended up over bluffing in a lot of spots where I had nut blockers and range advantage but in actuality my range wouldn't have the nuts and my bluffing freqs were way too high. The things that work well in live games 200bb+ effctive are very spewy vs online regs at 100bb. I have since than started memorizing modern preflop ranges and made an effort to keep my bluffing freqs in check. I have also started using pio regularly. I've had it for years but never ran sims unless it was a specific spot i wanted to check. The past two weeks i've been waking up in the morning excited to play. I've been running more sims and started putting in more effort in learning why pio does what it does.

I decided to start this challenge now but I am including the month of January for the full year's results. My goal is to make 75k after rake back. I expect to average around 1k in RB per month. I need to profit 63k for the year. I started at 100nl. I will start mixing 200nl on Monday.

Here are my years results so far.

Here is this years graph of my 100nl.

I am mixing 6 max and full ring. Most of my focus is on 6 max because fr is boring AF.

I'm playing regular tables for now but the plan is to add in some 200z+ once my thought process of my range is solid enough play with the 15 second time limit. I will be moving up the 6 max stakes while mixing in a higher full ring stake until i beat 500nl 6max.

February results
Live games in my area picked up a bit so I got less volume online than I wanted. The good news is I am now in the black for the year for live results. I keep my online and live results separate.

Online February results.
I made $5250 with about $818 in rake back for a total profit of $6069.

Most of my volume came from 100nl 6 max with 5.21 EV/100. I havn't been tabling selecting much and I'm really starting to enjoy the reg battles there. Towards the end of the month I ended up having a two hour session where I didn't win a pot over 28bb. I ended up dropping 7 buy ins. I made a lot of mistakes but the important take away is that I don't feel like they were caused by tilt. In the past I would have lost a lot more due to tilt.

After doing a few session reviews I found out that I am always spewing stacks preflop because I am leveling myself vs regs. I think they are starting to 4bet lighter because I have been 3betting a lot or they opened lighter because a fish limped or was in the BB. Nope, when they 4bet they just have it most of the time. Sticking to the proper frequencies and putting less emphasis on leveling wars will save me a lot of $$$.

I've been running sims every night while I sleep and I have been reviewing some of the flop reports. I decided to change my flop strategy from lazy reg cbet 33% on all boards from any position to a mixed strategy. I know I am making a lot more mistakes especially with my range but I expected this. I just need to put in more time. My friend is making a spread sheet that should make this easier.

I've also been finding a lot of interesting things in pio that I never understood or thought about enough before. I've done simple things like compare tight range vs tight range against wide vs wide in 3 bet pots on the same boards. There is a lot of valuable things to be gained if you can figure out why pio does what it does. I know I am only starting to scratch the surface. I know this is just some of the basic things good regs have done years ago that my lazy ass just started. I got a lot of catching up to do.

My goal for March is to study and grind. I will be playing a little more 200nl but my main volume will be 100nl 6max. I played my first session of 200z last night because I wasn't sure how much time I would have. I just one tabled since there is only a 15 second time bank. I ran hot, caught some bluffs and made 4 buy ins. Feels good to start the month off right! Okay, done with the update, now back to the grind!
