How's the grind going? Going back to Vegas for a month. Maybe I'll drop by LA although my roll isn't good for any game in LA except Bike 2/3. And even that game might be meh cause of the rake.

You know what I call breaking the rules to gain an unfair advantage? Cheating.

So I'm getting more and more annoyed by OB. The other day we did a round of blind raises. And after a couple of rounds I say that's it, no more blind raising from me. Ob tries to bully me into continuing and rather than start a conflict I decide to just change tables. Same thing happened again the next day. OB is on my right and he tries to start of round of blind raises (which he won't do unless everyone is doing it.) And I've seen him tell someone they had to blind raise twice when the player on their right returned but when the reverse situation happened to him he said he already blind raised and didn't have to. Scumbag. Anyways I get up and leave the table sitting out UTG instead of taking one last free hand. And OB says "you can't come back this round". And in my head I'm like WTF?!? and I say out loud and boldly "I'll do whatever I want". I can't believe this A-hole just told me I can't sit and play. Who the hell is he? I should have told the floorman that another player is telling me I can't play. Unbelievable. Then yesterday after a hand vs him OB asks me in that whiny annoying voice of his if I can hurry it up and play faster. I move slow and deliberate, but not deliberately slow. I literally took 30 seconds to make a bet and OB has to whine and complain about it? I told him in no uncertain terms that "No I will not hurry up". I'll take as much time as I need to act and no more. I've never had a clock called on me and OB has taken WAY longer than I ever have in several spots when I've been at the table before.

OB is a cheating scumbag jerk. Can't wait to catch him going north again. I'm going to call the floorman over and loudly call him out as a cheater.

Going great. Yeah come on down to LA we'll hang out and figure out something fun to do. Screw proper bankroll management just play the Commerce 5-5 game and if you go broke get a job.

Imagine everyone playing like you, taking 30 seconds on a bet. You call it "deliberate", other people call it "is this ****hole taking up time AGAIN" and while they don't call the clock, that is not because they don't mind but because most people don't want to be rude.

Except I don't take 30secs every time it's my turn to act, just in this one spot. No one has ever called the clock on me because I've never taken more than a couple minutes to act. Mostly I'm just instantly folding or taking maybe 10-15 secs to consider folding/calling/raising and this jerk OB is the only person to ever ask me to hurry up. Probably because he was mad that I beat him in the hand.

Don't try to reframe what I've said anymore Kelvis. You are a troll. If everyone acted at my speed the game would speed up, not slow down.

I said I'm slow and deliberate , but not deliberately slow. And that it took me 30seconds to bet which I clarified as 29seconds of thinking. But for some reason you want to get up in arms about me taking a few seconds to act? GTFO.

Calm down Kelvis, go somewhere else please, you are not wanted here and your presence is considered to be trolling by me at this point. I will not engage you further in any conversation and I would appreciate you NEVER posting in my thread again. You are so toxic dude. Like seriously, keep it to yourself.

Having played with Rick plenty over the last few months I can confirm that he is slow as **** at every opportunity.

Spoiler:
Just kidding! he plays at a super standard speed unless there is a decision to be made, at which he takes an appropriate amount of time to act

The whole “don’t look at my cards til the action is on me” BS really needs to go. Shaving that 10-30 seconds per hand preflop would make infinitely more difference to the speed of the game than bemoaning + calling clock on an infrequent 30 sec tank.

So much rain in LA right now. Waking up to the sounds of rain drops pelting my van roof really reminds me that I'm homeless. Not that I hate it, but the rain sucks and definitely the worst time not to have a nice warm house. And what really sucks is the clouds blocking out the sun. My religion is sun worship and without daily rays from the sun I feel alone in the universe. I can understand why people in Seattle kill themselves at such a high rate. I feel like there is some sort of human photosynthesis that is going on. Vitamin D is not a vitamin but a hormone and it triggers and catalyzes a range of different processes in the body. Sunlight first thing in the morning feels so great I can't accurately describe it. The sun's warm embrace. Like a big warm hug saying don't worry pal, you aren't alone, I'm here buddy. But where is my friend today?! Efff this rain!!! I want to live in a desert. I wanna be a lizard on a hot rock. I'm a cold-blooded mammal I guess.

Meh, it takes an extra second tops, I'm already thinking about what ranges should be raise/call/folding before it gets to me and if I look at my cards before my turn it's really difficult for me not to give off tells that I want to play or fold. Sometimes I'll do it anyway out of a lack of discipline or if the fishy player is saying to hurry it up I don't want it to look like I'm taking any more time than absolutely neccesary. Mostly I will wait till my turn to look at my cards and I'm watching my opponents when it's there turn to act. (Like in Rounders the judges game scene) But not because of the movie.

Also I think it makes it easier to make the right play if you don't see your cards beforehand. It sort of takes your emotions out of the equation. If you look at JJ in the SB before any action you might get excited to play the hand. Then a big raise from UTG and a 3bet from a super tight player, this might be a spot to cold fold, which in my experience has been easier when I analyze the action preflop before looking at my cards.

I think it's perfectly fine to do that. Most preflop decisions are easy so it's not like seeing your cards 10 seconds earlier will help you make a decision and speed up the game. If anything you'll just give off tells like Rich said. It's the idiotic "I'm gonna take 5 to 10 seconds to open fold 94o cause I don't want to ever act instantly" that I saw on TV a few years ago that would be unacceptable.

It's official I'm a pay off wizard. Don't try to bluff me I'm too stupid to fold.

Filthy ****ing Vermin

Hero (~1700) TT
filthyvermin (covers) AA aka The Dude aka Buffy aka Santiago aka Mr Squeeze aka The Termite (seems like everybody has a different name for this guy but he'll always be "The Dude" to me)

Hero opens to 35 and the dude raises to 110 everyone else folds and I call.

Flop ($230) 996ssx

I check and the dude bets 110 and I call.

Turn ($450) 2x

I check the dude bets 225 and I stupidly call.

River ($900) Ks

I check the dude says "all-in" I decide he's a nice a guy and deserves the money more than me so I call ~1250. He wins.

Bad Luck Following Bad Play

Hero UTG (covers) KK
Villain BTN (1455) QQ - Euro(Czech???)

Hero opens to 35 one caller and villain 3bets to 140 we 4bet to 390 and only villain calls.

Flop ($820) QT6hhx

Hero goes all-in for 1065 effective and villain snap calls and holds despite us turning the flush draw for the tease. Nice hand dude. Guy isn't going to fold when I jam on a small flop either so whatever. Not sure if his 3bet and call a 4bet range isnt QQ/AA pretty much all the time so maybe I should somehow get away from this board? I don't really hate paying this off though had a couple backdoor outs and of course we could always hit the king. Whatever.

Also I heard through the rumor mill (a player who heard it from another player) that OB was banned from a bay area casino for going north during a hand. Doesn't surprise me.

Most people are folding most hands preflop, so saving 5-10 seconds per player (it really shouldn’t be this long but live poker is great) per hand with holdings that are getting automucked is huge over the course of a session. The “giving off tells” argument is a joke and perpetuated by people who love Rounders: if you’re gonna give off a tell would you rather it be while people have yet to act or when the action is on you and everyone is looking at you? I don’t see how your reaction to a big hand would change if you do it earlier or later. If you have a mild heart attack whenever you see aces then working on proper breathing will help your in-game anxiety more than holding off to look at your cards.

WAs skimming through your thread. Pretty interesting living out of the car idea. I know few people who do it but they don't talk to much about it. What are the pros and cons to living in a house? Have you got used to doing it or or is it still uncomfortable for you? Have you had any problems with people trying to rob you? If people know you live in a car and your pocketing 1000s I am sure you gotta watch out for people following you. So where do you park to sleep? I was thinking some where quiet without much noise but you also don't want to get robbed so maybe it would have to be more public. And since you been doing this how much are you up or down? Any altercations with police harrassment or anything like that? ANyways gl on your journey I will go back and try to read all of it when I get a chance. If you been doing this for a year you definitely committed to it.

Played at a table with tgiggity last night. We smoked a fat ass joint in my van. Thanks buddy.

I went on a hike this morning and on my way down the trail I saw this mole rat sticking his head out of his hole. I stopped about 2 feet from this thing and he was just staring me down. Well I'm not one to back down from a challenge, so I accepted. Me and this mole rat were having a staring contest. I'm looking at him and contemplating what his life is like and he's looking at me thinking god knows what. Anyway after a couple of minutes some other hikers come along and he feels the vibrations of their footsteps looks over and then retreats back into his hole. I wonder how long that thing would have stared at me had no one else come along. I enjoyed it. We'll call it a draw since we were so rudely interrupted. Until next time mole rat.

Living in a van is awesome, I wake up each morning and get a lot of sunshine on my skin. Been harrassed by police and some guys tried to rob/burgle my van. Posts ITT about it. I park in different places and I'm pretty smart about being safe now. I'm putting up insulation in my van and I got a really nice twin mattress and box so I'm sleeping comfortably at nights or whenever I need a nap. I love the van life.

Never my intention when speaking my opinion, no worries brudda. I'm sure you don't tank fold when it's not necessary like some do (moreso in tournaments).

Kudos on not immediately flailing for your phone to snap a pic. Sometimes the experience needs to be confined to you and the mole.

Oh yeah I don't even carry my phone with me hardly ever, definitely not on a hike. I got a flip phone to make sure I don't get distracted and I stay engaged as much as humanly possible.

And yeah I hate time wasters. It slows things down for 8 other people. Every second I take wastes 8 secs for other people at the table.

Nah I know my own limitations. I'm basically one giant core muscle with legs. I trip and stumble over rocks but never fall down. I hike at night without a light and without a phone sometimes, just the city light reflected off the atmosphere. My senses are next level. 20/10 vision and I can hear a pin drop. Stoned dilated eyes are good for night vision. I'm not scared for no reason and I'm not ******ed and going to get lost or anything. Coyotes are pussies. If a mountain lion wanted to kill me a phone wouldn't help. Now if you lived a sedentary lifestyle it might take a while to adapt your senses and reflexes to be able to travel freely through nature. You probably would never develop it, you just have to have been out there already.

Lots of experienced hikers fall or get hurt. Sometimes **** happens. Better to be able to call for helpas opposed to being immobilized and stuck in the woods all alone and nobody knowing where you are. Also could potentially see someone else in need of assistance and having a phone is helpful there too
