I read the rules on the NFL Gameday Giveaway that Commerce is doing. The top 3 picks each week get 500,300, and 200 bucks. The top 3 season winners after 17 weeks get 5k,3k, and 2k. And to earn the million dollar grand prize you have to pick 193 out of the 233 games for the whole season. Hmmm I'm not that great at math but going ~80% for a whole season doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility. Not for a free shot at a million bucks. I just gotta make sure I make the picks every week. Only seemed like maybe 100 or maybe even less entries were in the drawing from what I could see. And to have a chance at the season prize or the million it would make sense you have to enter every week. I'm going to give myself the best chance possible by entering all 17 weeks.
Not On My Watch!
Hero UTG+1(covers) AsAc
Villain 1 UTG (~1k) ??
Villain 2 BTN (~1300)
Villain 1 limps and we raise to 45, both villains call.
Flop ($145) 984hxx
Vil 1 checks we bet 75 and both villains call.
Turn ($370) 3h
I was hoping for a 3 or 2 turn and bingo we got it. Vil 1 checks and we sneakily check and villain 2 bets 145, vil1 folds and we go all-in ~1100. Villain looks pained asks "why did i bet?" and folds. Says he had K9hh and someone rabbit hunts the river 10h.
Misplayed Jacks?

Villain BTN ($790) KK - definition of a calling station.
Hero posts 15 cause I just got back from a little weed break. Look down at jacks and pop it up to 40. Villain raises to 75. Small blind cold calls and it's back to us. 4bet to 240. Villain slams a 5bet into the pot, 550. The way he smacked the chips down on the table, I have to go with my guts and rely on live reads. I'm an old school live pro. Instead I 6bet (whatever happened to that guy?) all-in (790) . KK calls and wins. Meh. Honestly it felt like a spot that I would have been upset if I folded and was wrong and where paying it off didn't feel that bad. That being said I need to use logic and realize the calling station isn't 5betting the tightest player at the table without some kind of real hand. The reason I got it in was because I had seen this guy pay off with some real garbage... Oh well.
One thing that I'm getting better is not getting upset with myself when I make a mistake. I used to get mad when I would play bad and make a mistake, but I've come to realize that I've been overly hard on myself. It's unnecessary and unproductive. Of course I should be analyzing my own play but I don't need to get emotional about it. So what if I make a mistake? That's part of the game, like taking a bad beat. Try it out. Don't be so hard on yourself for mistakes (away from the table too). And I've found that it has actually improved my game. Less of my energy and focus is on the past but rather in the current moment and observing the now.
Have you ever cried driving home from the casino? I have.
