Played in the stupid $350 tourney today. At some point the TD comes over and throws a Commerce tshirt onto the table and says whoever wins the pot wins the shirt. One player raises to 3500 and everyone folds to me in the big blind and I call for 2000 more with Q7ss. I say "added shirt equity" as I make the call. Flop is 922ccd and we both check. Turn Td and I bet 5k and he calls. River Jd and I go all-in for 21k and he shows A5cc and folds. I show the bluff and celebrate my new victory shirt. Anyway, I end up busting an hour later or whatever and as I'm leaving I tell everyone at the table "most of you guys are still going to bust and get nothing, but I've won this shirt!" People laugh and I make my exit back to the cash games.

I asked for it. I said next time we get it all-in let's not chop it. Fun hand, the next best thing to gambling and winning is gambling and losing. =D.

It is a high caliber play deeply rooted in equilibrium theory. You need to merge you're LimpCall vs ISO , calling with to polarized a range can lead to being exploited.

Did not get stung.

Villain is a plo player who I've never seen playing holdem. He was opening really wide when limped in front of and folding when opened already which is why I limped, why raise and get him to fold his crap hand when I can limp and get him to raise it? When the flop comes I check jam because I know this player isn't going to be afraid to call a huge raise light if he thinks he's good. I honestly expect this player to call me down with a lot of tens. AT, KT, QT, JT, T9, even pocket nines and eights some times. Just my feel at the time, I could be way off but I thought jamming looked fishy and would get called down light. Also I deny equity to his draw hands and negate his positional advantage. But what do I know?

Yesterday I literally said "all-in" three times in one orbit. All crazy overbets. The third time the other side of the table started laughing. =D. I'm bad at poker.

Played a solid session today. I was focused on trying to get in good hours and trying to play my best game. That's all I can control. Need to keep putting in good hours I was pushing myself to keep playing and it worked out because I made most of my profit in the last few hours.

Limp Raising Aces

Hero UTG (covers) AA
Villain UTG+2 (~1250) ??

Hero limps and villain raises to 50. Everyone else folds we limp raise to 175 and villain calls.

Flop ($360) Q97hhx

We bet 175 and villain calls.

Turn ($710) 8h

We jam for ~900 effective villain calls.

River ($2510) 6x

Aces hold. Now before everyone laughs at my play this villain had already flatted my early position 4x open with QQ. But he was opening far wider than that. Younger aggro czech that even though my hand is practically face up, still pays me off. I dunno, it worked therefore, smart. Right? I'm trying. Sent another Euro home tonight dejected, broke, and busted. 'Murica!!!

Losing With Aces

Hero BTN (~$1900) AA
Villain MP (covers) KK
Obama BB (~$450) ??

Villain opens to 35, we raise to 115, Obama shoves all-in for about tree fiddy on top. Villain thinks for a bit, asks how much we have, all the while I'm sitting there trying to send out every reverse tell "I don't have aces" I can. Villain goes all-in and I knock chips over in my rush to call.

King on the flop. No ace turn or river. Ouch! I think I'm gonna play the 1k tomorrow. If I win it will make up for my recent losses and then some. Probably just pissing away 1k, whatever.

Back at it today. Had to take yesterday off because I don't think I could afford to psychologically take another L. Reset and refresh.
Lots of sleep, feel good and back at it. Ready to take some more bad beats, or whatever.

=D Good. I truly have been feeling recently that the next best thing to gambling and winning is gambling and losing. I really don't mind it, especially since I feel the losing has been bad luck rather than bad play recently and also tournaments which are a crap shoot and I don't care. I want to gamble!

Been a while since I’ve checked out this thread, glad to see you’re still battling it out. What’s the current living situation, poker roll, life roll, etc etc?

Checking in this thread holy **** how do you stomach those downswings. Guess that's really standard though for I'm assuming 5/10.

I played 5/5 today instead of 5/T. I play better at 5/5. I just have way too much fancy play syndrome at 5/T.

Thanks been playing poker since '03, I'll never stop battling. Living in a van still and don't got much money, <20k.

I'm dead already. I fully realize I can and possibly will go completely broke. I'll be ok if I do. Some part of me wants it. I'll just get a job and keep donating my paychecks to the regs at Commerce.

Also I really do enjoy gambling. The next best thing to gambling and winning is gambling and losing.

Not Today!

Hero CO (covers) AhAs
Villain 1($1385) ??
Villain 2(~$1600) ??

Villain 1 raises to 35 villain 2 calls and we raise to 175. Both call.

Flop ($525) 842ddx

Checks to us and we bet 175, villain 1 raises to 400 and we call.

Turn ($1325) Qh

Villain checks and we bet 300.

River ($1925) 8c

Villain checks and we go all-in for 510 effective and villain calls. Aces are good. Feels nice to book a win today, but I need to be putting in more hours. I was down 800 early and I battled back and then some. Not losing today!

Seems like you get AA every session (^_^)

Can you explain the thought behind the smallish (1/4 pot) turn bet as opposed to just jamming it in?

Getting aces every session is where the skill is involved in poker.

I bet small on the turn because I felt like an all-in would scare him away. He check-raised the flop, then checked back the turn to me. So when he does that I can pretty much discount him from having diamonds. Most likely he has a one pair hand like 87s or a pocket pair or something. So at best I'm putting him on something like 5 outs. So by betting 1/4 pot turn I'm not exposing myself by giving my opponent the right implied odds to make the call with his hand(300 to win 1385+510 is about 6 or 7:1, not enough for 5 out of 44). I'm trying to sucker him in, milk him, whatever you wanna call it. For the record I believe I heard him say that he had KQ which I guess fits the action.

Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving I imagine the Commerce Casino five ten game is going to be a lot of ungrateful Euros tomorrow. I can't imagine being ungrateful 365 days a year. At least we Americans spend one day getting together with our families to give thanks for Abraham Lincoln federalizing a holiday for giving thanks. Praise Abe Lincoln! Random fact: Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be our national bird.

Cant Be Touched

Hero BB (covers) J2os
Villain LP (~1400) ?? female 30's asian reg. Solid tight player.

5 way limped flop.

Flop ($50) J62r

We check a player bets 35 and another calls and villain raises to 125. We fold and the other two fold. Reverse implied odds, bad position, I was going to check raise myself but once villain puts in the raise there isn't much point continuing the hand imo. Cold folding like a mofo. Can't be touched!

Had Thanksgiving dinner with the family before heading over to the Commerce Casino today. I played 5/5 because something about playing 5/T today just seemed depressing. The action at 5/5 was really good, I doubt the 5/T game could have been a better choice. And I'm just going to trust my feelings about game selection and everything else from now on. I feel like I had something clever or funny that I wanted to write down but now I've lost it. I'm tired and stoned and ready to go to sleep. Gotta quit smoking weed all day every day. Or take up harder drugs. One or the other, same thing.

This seems like a recurring theme in the PGC.

Anyway, nice to see you booking a few wins after those losing sessions!

Yesterday I noticed a player who looked like a caricature of himself. Baseball cap, gold chain, and a tattoo of a spade on his neck. All that was missing was a toothpick in the corner of his mouth. I mean my life is fairly obsessed with and revolves around poker so I can kind of understand wanting to get a poker themed tattoo. But on the same hand I know how most people react when you say you play poker, not well. Getting a large spade tattooed on your neck is a great way to ostracize yourself from ordinary everyday people and society in general. Does this guy not realize that or does he just not care? Played with him a little bit and he is arrogant and condescending and talks like being mildly decent at poker makes him some sort of god on Earth. And the way he would talk about and to the other players was just rude. What a loser of a human being. Absolutely pathetic.

I heard getting a spade tattoo means you exclusively get banged by black guys so maybe next time you see him ask him if that's what it's about. Even if not, I'm sure he will be super happy to hear what people are thinking when they see his awesome tattoo...knowledge is power.
