There has been some rain clouds harassing Los Angeles for the last few days and last night a gangster ass wind rolled into town. The wind said to the clouds "You don't belong here homey, GTFO!" The wind did some violence to the trees in it's fury. Branches and leaves everywhere, but those ugly ass storm clouds have blown away and such clear blue skies you've never seen before. I pray to the Sun!

There were two tables of 5/T and three Brits at each at table. Not exaggerating. My table was good though because of a fun player, Raj. He was definitely there to gamble. I left early today because I was feeling in the abyss. Don't think I was playing particularly bad or anything but I just didn't want to sit there any longer. I'm feeling too ancy.

Psychic Raj

Hero CO (covers) 98os
Raj SB ($515) T4dd

Hero opens to 35 and Raj calls and BB calls.

Flop ($105) 885ddx

Raj leads 275 bb folds we put him all in for 480 he calls.

Turn blank.

Raj "Sorry for the flush on the river"

River Diamond.

Kevin played high stakes on Friday when there was probably gonna be an open seat anyway. Maybe I should just go full Mike McDee and roll up my whole stake and sit down at the high stakes Friday LATB game. If I win it's Vegas and the Mirage and if I lose it's back to driving a bus. Why not?

American Beauty. It was a movie but in my mind it's an ideal. It's the sort of beauty that's attainable. Not classical beauty that follows the golden ratio and all that. But the sort of beauty that you can acquire by being happy and living a clean life. You can tell when somebody makes good decisions in their life just based on looking at their skin. When someone is healthy they just have a sort of healthy glow. I know that when I quit smoking weed for a few days my skin just looks better. Everyone should strive to octothorpe livetheirbestlife. Get out and move. It doesn't take long to make a noticeable difference if you make the changes.

I'm going to write a book just so I can tell people that I'm a writer. Even if I don't sell any books, unsuccessful writer sounds better than mildly successful poker player. It's an excuse to live a degenerate lifestyle too. I don't wanna read any books from someone who lived in the same small village his whole life and stacked hey every day.

Blockers Or Something

Hero BTN (covers) AQdd
Villain CO ($1500) ?? colored hoodie 30yo white guy reg

Villain opens to 35 and we raise to 115 villain calls.

Flop ($240) AQ6sss

Villain checks and we bet 115, villain calls.

Turn ($470) Ts

We both check. When the ten of spades falls on the turn the old man in the one seat across the table seems upset. I assume he has the king of spades.

River ($470) 6

Villain bets 105 and we go all-in. Villain folds. Gary says show a bluff and we oblige. Villain seems a little miffed and says he didnt think I had it in me. And I say "blockers or something".

Nit On Nit Violence

Hero MP ($2600) KK
Kevin CO (covers) AA

Hero opens to 35 and Kevin raises to 120. We just call.

Flop ($250) 965

We check and Kevin bets 125. We call.

Turn ($500) 6

We check and Kevin bets 225. I considered going all-in here because I just felt that Kevin had aces and that he wouldnt call an all-in bet. However he did see the AQ bluff so that might have stopped me. Another good reason to never show a bluff. We just call.

River ($950) T

We check and Kevin checks it back. Another player says "there's no money in poker" and I say "that's what nit on nit violence looks like" and that gets a little laugh from Kevin. Played with Kevin a little bit more today and he's not a bad guy.

Once I quit smoking weed I'm going to be a real poker player. I've been handicapped this whole time.

Why? You smoke weed and don't plan on stopping? Do you smoke while you play and do you think it has a negligible effect?

I'm actually transitioning into smoking much more now that I'm in the states and I've recently tried smoking while playing. I found the first time I tried it I played smaller stakes to be safer but I just couldn't focus on the games. I think that was due to the size tho not smoking weed because since then I've felt much better about it and have been playing my regular stakes. It just kills my volume not my play I think since my game is fairly consistent

My problem may be that I'm a mental case and smoking weed just exacerbates that problem. I used to have the opinion that you have but I feel I've come to realize that smoking weed really does kind of fog up my brain. Maybe it lowers my IQ by 5 points or something. It does have some sort of effect on perception and thought processes and I think it is detrimental overall to poker. I'm not saying I want to quit smoking weed entirely, but I would like to quit smoking it everyday. I'm very stoned right this minute.

Strange, weed helps me put in more volume because I don't get bored/tilted as easily. I pretty much never play without a bowl packed/joint rolled/cartridge in the pen, live or online. Only negative for me is it's harder to remember HH with specific people.

it affects everyone differently obv. Back in the day when i used to megatable 30-40 sng'z at once bein smoked out made me love doin it(guess it made me a "enhancement smoker" lol), on the contrary I've seen people not be able to handle 1 table live as they normally would after smoking. All in @420 has been crushin mtt's online and live for more than a decade, it can be done as jon stewart would say.......on weed man

Yea for me I think I have my strat fairly worked out, it's just about implementing now so I think my strat doesn't deteriorate as much as someone like Rich who is still thinking thru each hand. Like I don't "think" when I play, i'm in the unconscious competence stage. So if you're still in the conscious side I think weed will be worse for you than if you've had significantly more experience. I totally can see how you would use it consistently and I'm phasing into that myself

yeah, the more you have your strat worked out the easier it is to get blazed and auto pilot. I'm still tweaking my strat often and thinking through hands a lot, so getting super blazed definitely slows that thought process down. But 90% of spots are so standard I don't really have to think much

Yeah I've only been playing poker for 15 years, live and online, still working out my strat.

Like I said I used to think like you that weed didn't affect my play. Never thought I knew so much about poker or played enough hands that I didn't have to think about how I play though. Maybe your game is too formulaic? You have no decision points in your game, you know all the answers?

Of course I'm sure you've played millions more hands than me and are far superior in skill than me, I just find it amusing that anyone thinks they don't have to think about the game.

yea pretty much. Once you've developed heuristics for solving certain spots and have broad population exploits it's very easy to cookie-cutter implement it across a bunch of tables and just print especially in PLO where I'm just pushing or realizing equity a lot of the time. I only make a few big decisions every thousand hands since most stackoffs are natural and lots of river decisions are straight forward based on population tendencies or certain hud stats. If I was sitting at a single full ring 9 handed holdem game in person for that long I'd have to pay a lot more attention and would hate it, no amount of weed could save me

I've found a new speed. Super duper nitty.

Revenge of the Nit

Hero BTN (covers) QQ
Kevin CO (~$700) AJos

MP limps Kevin opens to 45 we just call, the blinds call and the limper calls.

Flop ($225) J96ccx

Checks to Kevin who bets 190, we min raise to 380 the other players fold and Kevin thinks about it for a few minutes before jamming ~650 and we call and win the runout.

Nothing Special

Hero BTN (covers) AKos
Villain MP (~$1500) ?? 30yo Asian woman

Villain opens to 50 and we raise to 135, only villain calls.

Flop ($285) AT7xcc

Villain checks and we bet 100, villain calls.

Turn ($485) 7x

Villain bets 225 and we call.

River ($935) 4x

Villain checks and we bet 700 and villain calls. AK is good.

Respect My Checks

Hero SB (2500) AKos
Villain UTG (covers) ?? 32yo Drunk Romanian Reg

Villain opens to 40 we call in the SB and the BB calls.

Flop ($120) AKJxcc

Checks to villain who bets 100 and we call the bb folds.

Turn ($320) 9x

Check to villain who bets 450 and we call.

River ($1220) 6c

I'm thinking about it and villain checks out of position. I'm not sure if it's an angle. I check. He says "You're first". I'm confused I think he's about to bet or something then the dealer says "you're first" and I figure it's time to show my hand. Ace King wins.

Yesterday the table started drinking and they were deciding who pays for the drinks by the flop. The farthest card on the left and you keep going. So if your seat 1 and the leftmost card is an Ace then you pay. Anyway I joined in on one of the rounds and I chimed in after I had seen my cards and they all started joking that I had pocket nines and wanting me to flop top set. Anyway it came two sevens on the flop which meant that Danny had to buy us all a round of doubles. Danny and the Romanian were drinking tequilla, the Brit was drinking Sambooka and I got a double shot of Tito's vodka in honor of the fattest comic in the world Bert Kreischer. Good times were had by all and the cocktail waitress told us that we were on time out because we ordered a round of doubles. When the waitress brought the cocktails Kevin asked in all seriousness to Danny, "You didn't buy me one?". Danny was cool and was like yeah sure. In fairness to Kevin he didn't know what was going on because he was listening to the loudest music I've ever heard someone play on their headphones. It was comically loud to the point that everyone around him was openly joking about it since he couldn't hear. Eventually we decided that someone should tell him since he might be so oblivious to not even know.

Danny taps Kevin so he takes out his airpods: "You're gonna get ear damage listening to music that loud"

Kevin "I'm gonna get brain damage if I don't..."

Zing! You got us Kevin, the table conversation is giving you brain damage, lol.

I think I'm going to try to convince Kevin to start a PGC, he would be a bigger star than 6BM.

Also I think I need to organize some kind of event and invite all the regs to come along. That way I can make some inroads with these people and get invited to crap too.

I'm thinking more and more about what type of book I want to write and I'm having a tough time coming up with anything. Definitely going to be something short and easy to bang out. Maybe a kid's book. I could write a story about an oscar the grouch type of character degenerate living in his van and smoking drugs and gambling every day. Sort of a cautionary tale. Of course some kids are going to read it and envy the lifestyle and end up drug addicted losers anyway. Hmmm....
