My name is Matt. I am 30, married and am a new father to best little guy I could ask for. I have a full time job and have gone to school for sports journalism/broadcasting. I plan on continuing these interests as I start my journey with CFP.

I started playing poker when I was about 21 after watching the WSOP on TV with some friends. I’ve had a tiny bit of success grinding SNGs but Black Friday hurt sng volume in the US and I’ve struggled to really put in a grind. With a new child MTTs and SNGs don’t really work with my schedule and I am starting to grow wary of all the new sng formats that seem to come and go. This lead me to CFP and 6 max cash. I’ve played cash sparingly and never really seriously, more as an alternative to the SNG grind.

After seeing success of others who have gone though the CFP program I decided to dive in 110%. As any new parent can tell you your priorities shift once you have a child. I’m not really doing this for me but as a way to be able to better provide for my family. This will be my motivation through the ups and downs of learning a new format but I look forward to the journey. I will mostly likely be starting from the very bottom of the ladder (hence the gutter) and work my way up from there.
