Although, obv cheaper to live in Phil, and often much more fun as well.
Somehow I missed this post earlier.

In theory it makes sense that 50/100 would be tougher than $1/2 because relatively speaking, its high stakes. However, this is not the case.

Call me racist, but on average, Philippinos and Koreans are below average poker players. This comes from someone who has played in Canada, the US, all over Europe, and Asia.

There are maybe a handful of regs at resorts world that I would consider good. (funny enough, they are westerners) Most of them only play 50/100 when waiting to play 100/200 or 100/200/500. I played at metro twice and it seemed that there were a couple good regs that were Filipino. I have a super small sample size there, so I don't know. I also played at Pan Am once, and the players there weren't great either.

Maybe I'm just too cocky.

As for poker in the US, I agree. I bet there are easy $2/5 games in the US, and that on average you can earn a higher $/hr wage than in the Philippines. I have my own reasons for being in Asia right now. Namely girls, cheap living, travel, and good weather.

I do plan on going to the US and playing poker. I'm interested in doing a ~6month road trip hitting all the major casinos in the US (and finding PLO/PLO8 ). I will have to find a partner in crime in the near future. (If anyone is interested, PM me)

When I first started playing 1.5 years ago, I would say I averaged 4 hour sessions.

These days, I'll average 5.5 hours. Often my <5 hour sessions are induced because friends are going out partying around 1-2am. I can play 6-7 hours of my A game with one 5-10minute break near the middle.

I keep a high level of focus through my whole session. If I play anything upwards of 7/8 hours I'm extremely exhausted and generally sleep for 8-10 hours immediately after.

edit: I'm a newb playing online. My average session is 2.5 hours. I can't how people can play 8 tables+ for more than 4 hours straight.

Hey man, I posted in your Europe thread in the summer saying I was thinking about going over there. I ended up in Vegas and came home after tilting a few buyins one night at 2/5. Anyway Im leaving on a surf trip next week for a month in mexico, then thailand and will be landing in Manila on Jan 31, fly back to Vancouver on Feb 23. I didnt even know there were good games in the Phillipines, was originally coming over to surf some half decent waves and find some girls. If you want to party or go play some poker together while I'm over let me know.

Hey, yeah I remember! I think we exchanged a few PMs too.

Sweet. I plan on being in the Philippines from mid-Jan to mid-Feb, so I'll be around for sure.

I'd be down for meeting up in Manila to poker/party and maybe heading to Cebu (they have some half decent waves). I've never tried surfing, but I'm always down for torturing my body trying new things.. so sounds good!

I'll try and send you a PM closer to Jan31st. I have a terri-bad memory so maybe post in here again in a few weeks.

I played a short session of 10NL on Ongame today. Played ~900 hands and won $28. Was a bit above EV. My red line seems to be below $0 which is a bad sign-- I'll have to work on that.

I tried playing a PLO8 session today but got disconnected within minutes in the middle of multiple 10bb+ pots. Pretty tilting... not going to bother checking PT3 to see how much this ****ty internet cafes connection cost me. I've lost $100+ of profit (nearly 10%) due to internet problems in Cebu.

I spent about 6 hours today learning about SEO and building my first SEO-related website. A friend I met in Cebu got me into it. I'm complete noob at the entire thing, particularly the web-admin stuff. Learning how to setup wordpress/plugins/html tables is a pain in the ass.

I've finally got 2 pages on 1000 word articles up. The pages still need some optimizing and editing, but the content is engaging, relevant, and useful.

I'm projecting $600-$1200/mo if I can get #1 in my focus keyword, and 1st page rankings in related keywords. This is probably going to take at least 150 hours of work, and steady maintenance afterwords. I'm thinking ~30 hours for content, ~40 hours for link building, ~20 hours for general optimization, ~50 hours for reading SEO books/videos. At 10-15 hours a week, I should know in about 3 months if SEO is a viable income source for me.

Today I have a flight to Manila where I'll be grinding 4-8 hours a night for the next 4 nights. Volume will depend on girls.

Locals, for sure.

There are few backpackers, but the work:reward ratio is way off. You don't even "go" for anything in Asia, you just pick and choose.

Grinding in Manila-- just the $1.2/$2.4. I hope to play some $2.4/$5.8 tonight if I can get some sleep later today.

Had a slightly losing session 2 nights ago where every move I made blew up in my face.

Had a slightly winning session last night, but made a bad river call on a J 3 3 6 8 r board with AJ. Ran into 37s who limp called 6x preflop. weeee.

gracias. Trying to refine my thought process so its more efficient. Need to act quickly in online games. You can time bank every decision in live.

So took my first shot at $2.50/$5.50 tonight. Table had 2-3 fish, 2-3 bad regs, and 2 good regs. I bought in for $800 and lost $600 with top 2 to a runner runner flush. Then I bought in for another $500. Ran the $500 up to about $700 by making a couple moves. Then I flopping a set and ran into turned trips. Got max value and almost doubled through. The $2.50/$5.50 table broke after about 5 hours and I played some $1.25/$2.50.

Overall up $1433.33.

Played a few hands yesterday that were questionable.

I ran a 90bb river bluff on a hand I posted for review on 2+2.

I also made a preflop play that I was uncertain about.. Review:

villain is trappy, has l/r and shown AKss before. Table is raising ~50-75% of hands preflop. villain has $140

Hero has 88 in HJ, UTG limps, villain limps UTG+2, 1 other limper, hero raises to $14, SB calls (22-JJ/qjs+), UTG calls (any suited+), villain goes all-in for $140, hero.. ?

The issue is SB has a range that's ~50% vs me, and hes going to call if I call. He also has an extra $60 behind. It's a close one IMO. I folded.

Someone told me that 100/200 ($2/$5) spreads at a new casino in Cebu. Went there last night and the only game they were spreading was 10/20 ($.2/$.5). I was pretty shocked..

Anyways, played for a few minutes until it turned into a $.5/1.00 game. The game was lol soft, but I knew that 30bb/hr+ was not possible, so I only played for a couple hours. Went allin 3 times preflop.. aa v 99, jj v qq, k4s v qq (lol). Won 2/3, then won a big pot with bottom set vs overpair.

Hahaha hey Chris. I had a feeling you knew I was a pro somehow. Actually, I had a feeling you suspected it right after I sat down.

I'll ship you my local #, I'm down for grabbing some beers or getting a micro grind going etc.

I'll be in Cebu on and off for the next 5 months. Gonna be hitting Canada for x-mas and then traveling SE Asia a bit when I get back.

In other news, had my first big losing session last night. Was a complete disaster.
Ran AA in QQ twice, both times in 3bet pots on a Q hi board. Got stacked both times..
semi-bluff raised a gutshot IP on a dry board, got 4bet by bottom 2 pair in the blinds.
my favorite; After losing AA v QQ twice, I get dealt QQ and get 3bet by a nit who has not 3bet in 2.5 hours of play. I insta-mucked QQ face up and he shows AA. I leave the casino.

Cebu couldn't get anything bigger than $.60/$1.20 going last night. Can't waste my time with these stakes. I think I'll just tell the manager to msg me when $1/2+ is guaranteed. Game was fairly soft, but I had a losing session again.

I've set some goals for December. I'll be heading home to Canada soon, to see family.. so I've kept my goals fairly modest.

1) 10k hands+ at PLO8 cash. Average 6PTBB/100+
2) 75 hours+ of live play. Average $30+
3) 200+ NLO8 SnGs. ROI 20%+

I fly to Manila in a few hours. Gonna be rocking the live games for 5 nights.

Had my second big losing session last night. Played 5 hours and bet 0 hands for value post-flop.

Session report:
I had AK twice, 3b both and ran into Q10xss and J10xss boards 3-ways. One hand I triple barreled and got river raise bluffed by a missed gutshot.

I limp/called a bunch pre with hands like KJs, A10, whiffed all flops.

I ran a king hi flush into an ace high flush and got stacked.

I squeezed J7ss in the BB vs someone opening 25% in LP. a Kxx flop and took it down (because if yous 3b you always have AK, rightz?)

Table had 2-3 fish for the first 3 hours. It eventually dwindled to 1-- I left shortly after.

Confidence = owned.

I'm staying at a cheap hostel, but getting horrible sleep. These 2 Korean girls staying in my room are very loud/disrespectful. They put my stuff that was on the bed under the bed in dirt, then stole my bed, messed with the AC, turned on the lights in the morning, and had conversations while people were sleeping in the room. This furthers my distaste to Korean girls and angers me greatly. Going to try and nap this afternoon prior to grinding $1/2.

Session last night went pretty well.

I played $1/2 and then it turned into $1/2/5. I was hitting huge the first 2 hours but not getting paid on the river. I showed a couple bluffs to help out my image.

I pulled off a c/r squeezed 3.5x on a 3 6 9 rainbow board with JQ in a good spot. I knew that the original bettor had TPWK and the caller had middle pair. If either called my flop raise they would fold to a 2, 4, 5, 10. If I hit a J or Q I would probably win the pot and get value on the river. turn came a 10, I lead out 3/4 pot and they both mucked. Was a nice 40bb pot.

I lost a big pot where I floated a 1/3 flop bet on the CO with a gutshot and backdoor NFD. BTN also called. Turn completed a flush and I repped it, got raised small by btn and called to try and spike the nuts on the river or bluff a paired board. River blanked and I lost a 100bb pot.

I won a big pot where I 3b squeezed the btn with AJss vs a light opener in the HJ and caller in CO. SB called my 3b {88-JJ, AQs, AK), and the light opener folded, CO called. Flop came 10 5 4r, he check, I bet 1/2 pot, sb calls, co folds. Turn comes a K, he checks, I bet 2/3 pot, he tank folds.

I also got into a huge hand with AA OOP. I am not sure if I made the optimal play in the hand. I ended up check/folding the turn and someone showed up with a set. Hand is here: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/17...y-pot-1135874/.

I'm doing some SEO work now-- I'm going to head to the casino in an hour or two.

Had an awesome session tonight. Played my A-game, got cards, made huge bluffs, everything was going my way.

Played one interesting hand with AK where I flopped TPTK and someone donked 1.5x pot into me. I called, then he bet 1/2 pot on the turn. I soul read him for a combo draw and raised 3.5x, got called, and he check folded a 1/5 PSB on a blank river.

I pulled off 2 air bluffs by double barreling the turn/river after being card dead for ~hour. Both were successful.

Ended up profiting $1862.50!

That's over 70,000 Piso, in one session.

Where you playing PHP 100/200?

Even still that would be 3 1/2 buy in's, but I suppose that isn't absurd.

Yeah, 100/200. It was a great session. I started with 20k pesos at 50/100, I was chatting up someone up that I showed an air bluff on. Few hands later I had the nuts and he double barrel overjam allin bluffed me hahaha. Then he changed tables.

Took the 40k to 100/200 and ran it just shy of 100k.
