Profit 5k Playing 2/3 Live NL in One Month
Current Progress: +600/$5000 & 5/200 hours

Long time browser, first time poster. Planning on using this thread to track my February playing.

I have played for one and a half years, seriously the past six months or so. I started played 1/2 100 cap along with small stakes online. Seeing live as a more profitable avenue I have committed to that route, using online to practice/try new stuff/play PLO.

I try to play a Super Donkey Crusher style but can cross over to LAGtard under certain conditions.

Take these two spots:

1) On button with Q2o
Rec player limps in CO and I raise to $20. Blinds fold and CO calls. Bet 90% of flops. Not AQx, KQx flops or JTx flops.

This play seems borderline (or worse) but I make it all the time. I get shown any two suited cards by fit or fold players too often to stop doing it. This is the Position LAG exploitative play I like about my game.

2) Dealt A4o in CO. Two limpers.
Raise to $15. Go Four way to the flop. I should be shutting down here without 2p+ and going for 2 streets tops with any ace high flop. Instead I try to win a pot thats not for me and end up calling with ace high on the river and getting shown a better ace high. I get hero/value owned all day because I am trying to drag way too many pots per session. I feel like my game improves 2x when I have a better (tighter) preflop range.

If I'm on my game like hand 1, I am 25/20 and the most feared player at the table. If I am off it, hand 2, I am 35/33 and the player everyone is waiting to hit against. Hoping to work on this.

Also have some BRM problems. I have shot taken 5/10NL, 5/5 PLO, and 20/40 EO (stud8/omaha8) when I should just stick to my best game. Also have a 4buy-in/day and 2buy-in/table stoploss that I have reneged on a few times this year.

I am currently playing 2/3 300 cap in San Diego and Los Angeles at 5 different card rooms. No work this Feb so I can play around the clock minus a few commitments. I have my preferences but with LAPC going on I will play mostly 2/3 100 cap, 3/5 200 cap, and 5/5 300 cap at the commerce unless the games aren't as good as my usual seats. I also intend on playing some 1/3 300 cap PLO.

Goals:

5k profit in February only games under 500 BI
200 table hours (Feb 5-March 5)
Tighten up preflop
Follow my stoploss/get up rules
Log every session w/ at least one HH

Starting Off On a Win

02/05 8pm 5 hr session 2/3NL 300 cap San Diego
Buy in: $200
Profit: +$600

Up $200 from the must-move and hit a big hand early in the main game (HH1). Only one player I recognize and think is decent, but is also a nit. A few drunk guys, very cool, definitely rec players. Player next to me seems good, he starts to chat to me about the donkey play being exhibited but I stand up for recs in the name of Gambol. I'm in with the drunkies after that.

HH1: The Classic
Second hand on the table.
Raise KK UTG+1 to 15
UTG + 2 calls
HJ Unknown OMC reraises to 45 in a way that makes me feel like I'm dealt a cooler.
Call and go 3 ways to flop.
($140) Flop KT3
Check the nuts
HJ bets $75
Jam for $300 effective.
"My favorite hand to lose with" call.
KK > AA for a $750 pot.
Pretty sure I could have got away without hitting. I mean raising a guy that guy sat down? Hard to say though. I considered folding pre lol, would be my first time. I wonder if I should have 4b/folded there. I just feel like I would be raising for information which isn't really part of my game.

HH2: Squeeze Play
UTG +2 good player I recognized, lost about $400 over the last hour. Last hand he calls down and gets shown second pair, it's good.
Raises to $13, his standard is $15+. He's tilted.
Two callers. Good spot for me in SB.
Look down at my cards mentally pretending to see aces, go for the slow card squeeze as if my first one was good (stupid lol-live trick but maybe it works). T2o IIRC. Raise to $60 and take it down pre.

HH3: Big Slick
Played this one bad.
Dealt AK in CO.
EP (rec) raise to $15, one caller.
I reraise to $45. Both call.
($140) Flop K45
Checks to me I check. Feel my hand is too good here and can't get three streets.
Turn 9
EP bets $50. Folds to me.
I call. Looks like he was betting for value. I gave him a lot of credit and actually wanted to keep the pot reasonable. We were 200bb deep.
($240) River 6
EP bets $75
I call too quickly and realize how bad I played it when he shows KTs.
As played on river I should be raise/folding against a probable K, maybe K9.
Looking back I should just bet this flop three ways in a 3b pot planning to bet bet and fold to most turn and river raises with this run out.

Overall this session I played solid. Being Friday night and drinks flowing made for a juicy table. Lost a $350 flip that would have made for a 1k night, but also had those kings. Wish I spent more time on my actions in general.

~May your draws hit and your nuts hold. God bless~
