Weekly update!

Pretty good week, will be putting in more live volume over the next month as I go for the loyalty freeroll at the Vic, still getting in 30-45 mins of PLO online in the mornings.

Overall update - Last weeks figures in parentheses:

Live bankroll: £2245 (£2,219)
Online bankroll: $204.08 ($193.81)
Life roll savings: £0

Live Sessions:
29/9 - +£68 2hrs 59mins
30/9 - -£198 2hrs 33mins
3/10 - +£264 12hrs 6mins
5/10 - -£93 2hrs 48mins

Total: +£41 20hrs 26 mins

PLO Challenge graph:

Really wanting to have a better week all around this week. Had a couple really average live sessions when every pot I raised first in I missed or had 2+ callers and cbetting would just be punting money. Online I'm sure I'm playing badly, I need to study more and spew a lot less!

Decent session for a Monday last night. Had three rec players (well they're all rec, but you get what I mean) at our table and managed to get a decent amount off each of them at some point in the evening. The next loyalty period started yesterday as well; 5 points per day Mon-Sat and 10 on Sunday. Need around 100 points and you get a freeroll with around £60k prizepool. Will be playing everyday (within reason) to make sure I qualify this month.

2hrs 51 mins, +£158

Thanks!

Decent session last night, booked a £225 win in a couple of hours and called it a day. Went out for drinks at a speakeasy in Chelsea with the GF on the way home.

Crossed £2k in profit since this thread started so good times!

Hey guys, I have a couple questions for those more experienced than me!

1) When is a reasonable point to assume I'm a winner in these games in the long run?

2) When would be a good time to make the step up to £1/2 and would it be better to play somewhere other than The Vic? I've heard the games are easier at the empire and hippodrome?

Thanks for any help or advice!

Seems pretty obv that your in the top % of ability in 1/1.

If I was you I would take 2 buyins for 1/2 and see how it goes with careful game selection midweek. If you loose the lot just grind it back in 1/1. Avoid tables with young

Thanks for the advice! Wouldn't it be better to hit the 1/2 games at the weekends? I will prob wait a bit more to make sure I have a solid 1/1 roll to fall back on but am thinking about making the move sooner rather than later.

1. I'm sure 300hours is a good indication.
2. Whenever you think you are ready mentally/br wise. And yes Hippo/empire 1/2 wil probs be softer than Vic due to location. Would advise shotting it on the weekend cause there is more influx of drunk fish.

As long as u table select the vic is fine - weekends are softer but usually higher variance. 1/2 is soft in vic

Hippo for me at the weekend! That's where you should take your shot.

Be careful, I didn't find a huge difference between 1/1 and 1/2. Just need to play solid and be patient. The cards will come and the fish will pay you.

I know exactly who you are but will send you whatsapp later regarding us meeting up when I come to grind for the week. Maybe swap some action if you are keen.

Best of luck and go get em!

Thanks buddy, looking forward to seeing you! I'll be taking a 2 buyin shot at £1/2 this weekend at the vic, if I bust it I'll still have 20 buyins for 1/1.

From now the plan is any money above £2k I'll use to try move up to £1/2, whenever I have less than £2.2k I'll grind 1/1 until in have enough for a £1/2 buyin!

Absolutely gutted, busto on the £1/2 shot. Had been between a buyin up and down most of the night, topped up my second buyin and sitting on £300.

Utg raises to £10, before I can do anything with KK guy to me left raises to £18. I opt to flat original raise and have my option when it gets to me. Sb and Utg call and I pop it to £75, guy to my left flats and sb and Utg fold.

Flop comes k74cc, I bet £75, he shoves I call. Turn and river come clubs and he flips over AQ with a club to rake the £700 pot.

Back to the £1/1 games.

The morning after the night before

While the results weren't as I wanted there are a lot of positives I can take forward from last night. It was great to get a first session at £1/2 under the belt and see that the standard of play isn't much better. There are certainly some more competent players but also some good marks at the table where the money will be made. It showed me that this grind is making progress (if not always smooth sailing) and that I'm working towards and achievable goal.

This isn't going to deter me in the slightest, I can't wait to get back to the £1/1 tables and grind until I have enough to take another shot. I will make it stick and then I can get to work on aiming for the £1/3 games. I want this badly and I'm not going to let a speedbump like last night get in the way.

Sorry to read about that bad beat shot. Nice to see it did not hurt your confidence, grinder.

Also wondering:
2k is 20 BIs in 1/1, for you. You buy-in this amount (and not the max: 200) because 100 bbs is a cash game standard, or for any other other reason. I buy-in this amount too if i play , but I would appreciate to hear your motor. Ty.

It does have to happen, when it happens is irrelevant. If you put yourself in a situation where you rely so heavily on the short term results you should expect to be moving back down a fairly large chunk of the time. Expecting to be able to run pure because you're moving up is at best naive.

Also wouldn't put too much into specific situations and assume your EV is that when the cards flip over.

Thanks a lot for your advice, it was more said in jest than actual frustration but would have been a good one to win

Booked a £70 win at £1/1 yesterday afternoon.

Hmmm, shall I just randomly jump into the Hotter $75 and take a shot? Any advice in the next 10 mins I'll probably act on, do I even have a chance in it or all solid regs?
