Ah no live play at all? I'm just across the water from Battersea myself. What do you play online?

I'll jump into your thread as well! Give me a shout if you wanna come play live or grab a drink, I'm in Fulham and would be good to meet more poker players here. Do you play full time?

Weekend is nearly here! Will be playing a long session tonight hopefully, going to head home and change then head up to The Vic. Got a fair bit of stuff I have to do over the weekend but will do what I can to get the volume in.

Bought in for £200, cashed out for £519. Have horrendous back ache, going to the doctor tomorrow to sort it. Felt I played really solid tonight, more of the same going forward. I didn't get tempted to start playing crap, just ground out with solid hands and played position effectively.

Didn't manage to get in anymore live poker over the weekend, ended up having a big one on Saturday night and spending most of Sunday just lazing around.

Did see a guy with some epic birds just having a stroll through London though.

ChicagoJoey posted a link to a blog post written by Skjervoy encouraging people to take up PLO and I decided to take it up. The rest of this year I'll try and learn PLO online while continuing playing NLHE live.

First day ever of PLO:

I've fallen in love, I can't wait to keep playing!

+1

Aspers is an absolute s***-hole - terrible inattentive floorstaff, dealers who make regular errors, allow speech-play in multiway pots, always get hand winners and player next to act wrong ... etc etc... The casino feels horrible to play in as well - not at all like a "true" poker room.

The Vic is great - complete contrast - friendly and helpful staff makes you feel comfortable playing there. Really pleasant poker environment as far as casinos go as well. I haven't played much cash at Aspers (I hear it's horrificly soft, the tourneys are the softest in London) but the Vic 1/1 is still easy.

To be honest I'd have to agree, games are softer at aspers but I prefer the Vic.

Does 1/1 run 24/7 at the vic?

I've never not seen it running. Maybe 8am on a Tuesday or something but it's always been running when I've gone.

Haha! I know exactly what you mean about Omaha. I was having a particularly spewey day playing NLH a few weeks back and so thought I'd give Omaha a whirl, who new poker could be so fun?! I was hitting sets, full houses and even quads like they were top pair in holdem. That was all I played for about a week, and then the brutal variance of omaha hit me and the tilt is ten times worse somehow, it just seems so wrong and unjust to lose so regularly with such good hands! I've vowed not to play again until I've at least read an article or two on the game (I have literally no idea where to even start with hand reading in Omaha ) I'm down about 7 BI but at least that's still only half a BI for my NLH stakes .

Anyway have fun with it, but be warned, it's god damn addictive, and it turned me into the closest I've ever been to a true gambler lol.

Thanks for the advice! I think it should be ok, I'm playing far below what I play live so bankroll isn't an issue. I think it will help my live game as I'll become much more tolerant of bad beats (even though I feel I take them pretty well at the moment). I don't particularly mind losing at these stakes so long as I'm playing well and making good decisions. I'm just really excited to get massively stuck into a new format, learn it properly and hopefully not get the bad habits I have at NLHE.

Good thing you weren't getting paid!

My roommate when I was 18 did the same thing when taking a shot at $1/2 HU. I laughed my tits off.

Yeah that is an upside, glad it is only 5pl!

UKIPT LONDON:

Thinking about trying to put together a package for UKIPT London, the £770 main event and if I bust that, the £330 London cup, total cost of £1100. I'm not marketplace approved due to the age of my account so it would have to be done privately but am certainly considering giving it a go!

Deal dead: I've essentially just been sucked out on the river by someone hitting a one outer, taking my 5k, then telling me I can't play in that game anymore lol.

Least I got my run bad for the week out of the way!
