Sup 2+2,

I always wanted to go back into blogging but was always kinda forced to stay low profile due to various reasons. After now having finished my study and traveling around the world for a few months I've finally found some time to play a bit of poker again.

Having focussed exclusively on MTTs for the past few years I've decided that it's now time to learn and improve my cash game skills. My main reasons for this are that I really really dislike the strict grinding schedules and the lack of social life, health, etc. that come along with playing solely MTTs. Truth is also that my competitive character doesn't enjoy MTTs as much as it used to be and while having had my fair share of success, turning pro was never an option and thus I don't mind giving up any possible EV in order to learn a somewhat new format pretty much from the scratch and challenge myself again for the love of the game.

Due to other real life commitments I unfortunately can't promise at all that this thread is gonna last long but for now I will try my best to make this fun and interesting.

I've started this a few days ago and been mostly playing z100 with mediocre results and mostly a shockingly bad quality of play on my part. Let's try to change this!

You should start a real blog, i've heard a lot of bloggers making like 5k a month in passive income but they are mainly blogging about fitness/travevling etc. but have affiliate deals and sponserships as well.
^(thing is blogging about poker isn't really a thing like no one types in on google nl2 to midstakes etc., but let's make it a thing in the 2+2 community then we can all profit! )

You can't really add in any plug ins on these blogs on 2+2 so i don't blame a lot of ppl for not wanting to "blog" it's not +EV any bit and you don't even get a % of the ad rev 2+2 gets.

Also i am trying to learn MTT's from scratch as well haha, i started out playing MTT's in high school like any noobie but transitioned into cash going to learn MTT's very soon tho like you GL

Not sure if I understood this correctly but I've opened this blog simply to keep track of my progress and cos I think it's fun. I'm obv not trying to make any money out of this.

GL you too.

Volume is decent and will luckily stay so for the next 10 days which is good. I've also adjusted my RFI and BB defends thanks to some PIO solutions I've got from a friend. Approach will be to RNG most of my pf decisions unless having some strong reasons to prefer a certain play. I've also adjusted my HUD and setup in general.

Besides that I'll go through some of the (end)boss blogs like the ones from llinus, otb and/or ishter and see if I can pick something up in terms of speeding up my learning progress. I've also been watching some RIO cash vids and will continue to do so. Currently in the progress of getting a new laptop so once this is settled I'll get PIO running there again and put some hours into postflop play.

In general z100 just needs a lot of preflop adjustments imo because of the high rake structure so calling becomes way less attractive. Still really unsure about how much extra EV we gain vs bad players and how much it makes up for loosing calls pre.

Overall still not happy with my play but w/e, we just started

Vs decent MTT reg (on the explo side). Feels like we have so few strong hands on this runout that I need to call this at least sometimes. Also expected him to take this line a lot with A3s A4s and bluff this exact river a high %. Also our hand seems like a decent bluff catcher.

Yeah leggo! I mean cash regs whine about 10-20 buy-in swings, that's first world problems for guys like us. How didn't we start this earlier

To my own surprise I'm really struggling with keeping up the focus and hence my quality of play suffers a lot (I've been spewing hard in parts). I was never a mass tabler in MTTs (6-10 tables max) but I thought that given the long hours of grinding I was used to I would be able to put in decent volume in zoom fairly easy. Now I know better lol. 4-tabling zoom requires a lot of focus and I think I'm currently not able to maintain that for a 2-3 hrs straight grind. Other reasons for this are that my autopilot game is obv still very bad so many std spots require a lot of attention for me and I haven't been playing much poker at all for the past 6+ months. Also using the google RNG kinda doesn't seem like the most GTO approach and always takes some time and focus away. Does anyone perhaps know if there is a RNG software for Mac which I can use for stars?

Anyway given the above I've decided to introduce my "quality hours". The simple idea behind this is to split the day into 3 grinds, each one lasting exactly 1000 hrs (approx 1 hr). This way I make sure to keep the focus high and 3k hands/day seems fine to me as well. Once I'm able to maintain my B+ game for a longer period of time I will likely increase my grinding hours again.

The quality of my game has gotten a bit better (would rate from C to B overall) whereas volume slightly decreased but is still okay. The introduction of my "quality hours" seems to be working fine.

Though I've improved my pf game in terms of ranges, I'm still undecided if we should have a RFI and 3b range only because of the rake structure.

Overall I'm down over my first 50k hands so far and I'm not really aware of why (which makes it even worse). Sure quality of play has suffered in the beginning, I'm still relatively new to 100bb no ante and running under EV doesn't help. But more important it's obv parts of my game which must have some major leaks and the goal is to figure them out asap and work from there.

Anyway I'll post some hands and maybe some of you 2+2 wizards can help me out. These hands are not the biggest or the most entertaining ones but hands I just want to make sure they are not completely butchered. I'll leave them here without my own commentary this time:

Not great to not see you blogging anymore though cheers bro

Haven't played last couple of days as I've been visiting a friend but will grind pretty hard in the upcoming days.

I'm starting to get a feeling for z100 and how population plays there but still not getting the results I'm aiming for. Pretty confident that this will turn around somewhat soon-ish though. Most simple solution to beating this level seems to bet when they check and fold when they bet. I've been reviewing a lot and I'm just stationing way too much so I just turned into a big nit which I hate myself for. This will hopefully insta turn around once I hit z200 and people bluff at least slightly more often.

Maybe someone can approve some folds here:

Why do you say that not blocking turn is "soo bad"? If anything I hate his flop raise size, but turn check...

Would you also mind telling how much you've played on z100 now and what winrate you currently have?

His play really is just a good example of how face up z100 population plays. In general but even more because of the way his range is constructed I think blocking turn is mandatory. Our hand can comfortably b/c and needs some sort of protection cos a) he very often has the type of hand he showed up with and b) population rarely x/r x b as a bluff in a 3bp so we just allow him to freeroll his equity. Fwiw I will not block range ott.

Played like 60k hands so far and I'm down 6-7 buyins in EV and a lot more in $EV. As mentioned before I'm still fairly confident that this is influenced by a variety of different reasons and that I'll be able to beat this limit pretty soon-ish.

Just finished a small but decent session, EV graph is finally above $0 .

Having a good grasp of z100 by now. Level of play isn't really high and given how passive everyone seems to be the fun factor isn't big neither. So yeah can't wait to move up and finally battle some good regs .

Today's hands:

H1)

Default is fold pre esp vs 3x but opener and flatter both bad regs so not sure. Flop seems okay-ish if people aren't nits.

So let's do a small recap of my first cash game month ever.

Good things first: very happy with my volume, very unlikely it will stay like this but hopefully I can maintain 50k/hands per month at least for the next month. The introduction of my quality hours helped me a lot but I will start to remove them again, mainly because my game improved enough that my B game should be winning now. I will also decrease my rng decisions and start mixing more depending on my opponents.

Things to improve: while my overall focus improved, it's still not where I want it to be. I'm still doing way too many mistakes which I'm aware of (which obv sucks a lot esp when you add the mistakes you're not aware of) and thus burning way too much money. In terms of my game I won't pick any specific street to improve and I will just try to review even more regularly and try to avoid basic mistakes and built a solid overall strategy. In general I could also improve my adjustments esp in terms of stationing. I mean the thing is that I pretty much study on my own and I started my transition with basically zero knowledge about any pool or player tendencies. As a result I've been stationing a ton just in order to gather some information. Sure it's not an excuse cos I've been also stationing a lot in spots where I shouldn't have but on the other side there have bit quite many spots where I looked people up (both rec's and regs) just in order to see what their doing. This might've been slightly costing and def hurt my EV line but now I'm fairly confident on which adjustments to make.

Here's March fwiw:

My goal for the next month is 50k hands with 5bb+/100.

Leggo!

I think this is the main thing to consider when playing vs the 100z population and am sure your winrate will pick up really fast when making the right exploits vs a population that I think underbluffs in a ton of spots. Obv I am not the right guy to comment on this and you have a lot of better people to discuss population tendencies with (and also know way more about 100z population yourself), I only played 15k hands at 50/100z this year but it feels to me like some spots rarely if ever get bluffed.

Yeah I agree, I'd assume one could crush z100 insanely hard by playing lol exploitable. Unfortunately that's not gonna be me though as my mind for some reason always struggles when it comes to playing v exploitable. I often find myself in spots where folding would be the obv right adjustment but I then talk myself into calling simply cos I know that I don't have any calling range at all if I fold that certain combo etc. Obv some sort of mental leak and makes me a pretty bad fish whisperer overall. Oh and always appreciate your advice on anything bro

Haven't been playing that much yet this month but will put in some grinding hrs in the next days for sure. Went off for a bad start cos once again I've been grinding when I shouldn't have (tired, hungover, ..) so really just have to blame myself. Overall fairly disappointed with my mental game atm but many factors to consider here so won't be too harsh on myself.

Also no interesting hands to post this time, just loosing infinite small pots and getting coolered a lot. Will try to post some next time.
