Learning, adjusting, playing and moving up. Learning, adjusting, playing and moving up.

Hello, 2+2.
I want to start a new PG&C thread to keep track of things for myself, and discuss the things I'm learning and how I'm playing. Especially the things I'm learning and how to implement them in my game. I've known the pokerbasics for a couple of years now, and have been a recreation player all the time. Since the start of this year it has constantly been my main goal to improve and work my way up from the micro's, instead of donating chips to you guys in 25NL and beyond.

Previous couple of weeks.
You guys already helped me a lot here on the forums , and I hope to keep on learning. I've played 100k hands on 2NL, zoom and regular mixed, and I will move up to play zoom on 5NL now. My 2NL winrate is close to 4bb/100, which is winning, but there is plenty of room for improvement. Giving this fact I think I've made myself a solid foundation and now it's time to keep improving.

What to expect in this thread?
I will be posting hands here to ask questions about, show off with, or whine about.
I will be recording all of my sessions and putting them on youtube, for anyone interested. Feel free to ask me anything about it.
I will be posting my progress on the learning part, and ofcourse there will be some graphs to show off with(or to whine about).
I'm aiming to play at least 2k hands per day, but it really depends on my emotions and energy. I want to be fully focused when I play and therefor have no volume goals. You will also find no monetary goals here.

Currenty learning/adjusting:

- Opening up my BTN range
- Adjust 3betting range on blinds vs BTN abusers.

My redline is going down to much, which I'm currently working on and adjusting. I've been playing way to nitty and therefor losing a lot on nonshowdown. First thing I'm going to adjust to my game for this week is to open from BTN more overall, and especially with nits in the blinds. My current stats on the BTN are VPIP:29, PFR:21. I'm not aiming for a particular number, but it should go way up from now on.

I've played my first two sessions and been adjusting on the BTN and blinds. I can do better, but it's a start since I was playing like a nit a couple of weeks ago. I think it's not good to suddenly go from VPIP:20 to VPIP:50 in just a couple of sessions. I will be playing in different postflop situations, and therefor I'm steadily changing it untill I feel comfortable. Also, I need a bigger sample to see the effect it will have on my non-showdown winnings and the winrate from the blinds.

Session 1:

I've done sessions 3,4,5 and doing a little bit review to see how I adjusted.

I've opened up my BTN range, to include more suited connectors, suited one gappers, K7s+ and try almost any two cards vs 2 nits in the blinds, even though it didn't happen that often yet.

Since I was playing like a nit, I was also more playing fit and fold. Now, when opening my BTN, I get faced with another problem; getting 3bet more.

Where my fold to 3bet was around 65% in 2NL, I'm now over 80%. Maybe it's the short sample size, but when playing I also feel like folding to much, especially IP. So the next couple of sessions I will try and watch that.

Session 3:
BTN VPIP:38 PFR:30

Session 4&5:
BTN VPIP:36 PFR:28

Hand 1:
CO is playing nitty and Foldto3bet is 50%(4). I don't see him having a 4 here ever. After getting x/r on the turn, I'm putting him on 99 and maybe QQ. He's probable shoving KK, AA preflop, and AQs+ would've probably folded as well.

I think it's a good fold, what do you think?

Poker Stars $5.00 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players
Hero (BTN): $5.37
CO: $5.19 - VPIP: 12, PFR: 11, 3B: 4, AF: 1.5, Hands: 73

Pre Flop: ($0.07) Hero is BTN with J J
2 folds, CO raises to $0.15, Hero raises to $0.45, 2 folds, CO calls $0.30

Flop: ($0.97) 9 4 4 (2 players)
CO checks, Hero bets $0.65, CO calls $0.65

Turn: ($2.27) 3 (2 players)
CO checks, Hero bets $1.25, CO raises to $2.50, Hero folds

Hand 2:
Villain is pretty aggresive here, and betting all kinds of missed draws and low pairs. I decided to not be scared of the ace after his check on flop & turn and called the river.

What do you think?

Poker Stars $5.00 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players
Hero (BTN): $5.84 - VPIP: 15, PFR: 12, 3B: 5, AF: 2.1, Hands: 35545
CO: $7.28 - VPIP: 38, PFR: 34, 3B: 13, AF: 5.0, Hands: 47

Pre Flop: ($0.07) Hero is BTN with K K
2 folds, CO raises to $0.14, Hero raises to $0.50, 2 folds, CO calls $0.36

Flop: ($1.07) A 8 6 (2 players)
CO checks, Hero bets $0.51, CO calls $0.51

Turn: ($2.09) 5 (2 players)
CO checks, Hero checks

River: ($2.09) J (2 players)
CO bets $1.70, Hero calls $1.70
