Hey everyone, Welcome to the thread!
About Me
I'm 25, I live in Chester (north-west UK) and I work as a support worker for people who have autism as well as other conditions.
About Poker
Like a lot of us here in the UK, I first got exposed to poker through watching Late Night Poker on Channel 4, but didn't start playing myself until around 2007. I joined a pub poker league with some friends, and signed up to an I-Poker skin shortly afterwards but never played much. I hopped around all the limits and games in 2010 trying to find something I liked but again didn't put any serious volume in.
Towards the end of last year I decided to put a lot more time in poker, starting at 2nlFR and 5nlFR which I managed to beat quite comfortably over around 55k hands, I then moved my roll over to Stan James where I played 4nl, 10nl and 20nl, and hired a coach, but I found it really tough finding games because I work night shifts so the hours that I was awake, there would be just about no games running (aside from the anon tables). So I decided to up sticks, deposit $600 on to Stars, and go from there.
Fitness
This is a really boring, cliche story of being really sporty all my life, suffering a pretty bad knee injury, not bothering with exercise after that, drinking beer and getting fat!! Because I work nights, I found myself watching the same P90x infomercial over and over again, until eventually I decided to get rid of my gut and ordered it. So alongside updating this thread with pokerstuff, Im gonna be updating with how that goes too. The first day will be Monday April 2nd so if I don't update after that then its fair to say I had some kind of heart attack doing P90x!
Goals
First of all, I want to learn how to be a good player, not just someone who plays 100k hands a month like a robot. I like to know the ins-and-outs of everything, and poker is no different. Obviously this approach will slow my progression through the levels in terms of time, but I believe I will be a much better as a result. I have an awesome coach who is great with the theory and analysis of poker so this should help me immensely. My aim to is to reach 50nl by the end of this year. This is the limit where the money will start to mean something to me, and the limit where people will be respecting my raises!
I'm also going to try my hardest to watch at least 1 DC video a day, post here and in the strat forums daily, and analyse my play after every session
TLDR
-Suck at poker
-Want to get better at poker
-Want to get fit
-Started this thread to keep me on track
For April my goals are:
[ ] Play 30k hands
[ ] Watch a DC vid each day
[ ] Post in strat forum daily
[ ] Analyse every session I can
[ ] Stick to the P90x diet and exercise programme
[ ] Lose 8lbs
Cheers guys
Gogogogogogogo!
