Wohooo! Back from N'Orleans with victory!
Here's the trip report from the New Orleans Harrah's Casino:
I've played 8 sessions of 1/3NL, each 2 hours minimum and ended up with $1500 profit (which is 5 standard max buy-ins).
In 6 sessions I showed a profit.
In 1 I stood up with my default buy-in.
In 1 I lost $150 but managed to compansate with the hourly high hand jackpot award of $150.
I thought I was a mediocre player, but I now believe that I am better than I think. I don't think the above results are just re-beginners luck, since the sessions took place on different dates and times and with mostly different players. What I did differently than my usual online play was to play tighter. I think I just invented the Tight Neutral player type. Not so aggressive postflop, but manages to go away with well timed bluffs.
The players at Harrah's NO were mostly regs. But on the weekend you had your tourists as well. There were some millionairres treating their $3000 stack as nothing, and some people who looked like homeless guys. A few of the regs, practically lived at the poker room.
The poker room is seperated from the main casino with a top down window, and has a nice athmosphere. You begin to think that you are playing poker at a Salloon in the wild west. Still there's plenty of sound coming from the casino and oh dude, some of the black guys do talk a lot and aloud -no race discrimination here. So I understood why people wear headphones at the poker tables now.
Free drinks were as plenty as you could get. The waitresses were around every 15 minutes or less mostly. Tipping each drink with $1 seemed to be the standard mode of action. I did drink while playing since I wanted to enjoy the experience rather than win more. But one reg did tell me that, only tourists drank and played here
The dealers were mostly kind and new what they were doing. Almost no issues there.
I'll answer any questions you may have about Harrah's New Orleans Casino.
