Hello guys, howdy?
I don't know if any of you remember me, so here goes a brief intro:

I used to play poker online & offline, I had beaten microer stakes back then and crushed the offline home games.

I was rising through 10NL but then a thought crossed my mind:
"Every time I win a cent from someone, I am gaining bad karma! I might be causing some ******* to lose his money which he should have saved for his kids".

Weird eh? I didn't think that it was weird at that time and quit playing poker and casino games just like that. Yeah, just like that and never touched a single card in 3 years.

But the itching for poker came back and I decided that everyone who is old enough to play poker should be responsible for their actions themselves.

So here I am on the road again

I guess my graphs are lost in time, and you may wonder why I call myself the king of the redline.
The following image may tell you why

I'll be posting my goals for the next month in a short file.
Meanwhile, here was my old goals thread: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/17...dance-1277612/

It feels great to be back!

So first 1k hands are here.
I know that's low -bothways; still I had to post it

I'll visit Harrah's in NO next week, hope I will not have my ass handed back to me in the live games. Any tips are welcome!
Cheers!

Wohooo! Back from N'Orleans with victory!
Here's the trip report from the New Orleans Harrah's Casino:

I've played 8 sessions of 1/3NL, each 2 hours minimum and ended up with $1500 profit (which is 5 standard max buy-ins).

In 6 sessions I showed a profit.
In 1 I stood up with my default buy-in.
In 1 I lost $150 but managed to compansate with the hourly high hand jackpot award of $150.

I thought I was a mediocre player, but I now believe that I am better than I think. I don't think the above results are just re-beginners luck, since the sessions took place on different dates and times and with mostly different players. What I did differently than my usual online play was to play tighter. I think I just invented the Tight Neutral player type. Not so aggressive postflop, but manages to go away with well timed bluffs.

The players at Harrah's NO were mostly regs. But on the weekend you had your tourists as well. There were some millionairres treating their $3000 stack as nothing, and some people who looked like homeless guys. A few of the regs, practically lived at the poker room.

The poker room is seperated from the main casino with a top down window, and has a nice athmosphere. You begin to think that you are playing poker at a Salloon in the wild west. Still there's plenty of sound coming from the casino and oh dude, some of the black guys do talk a lot and aloud -no race discrimination here. So I understood why people wear headphones at the poker tables now.

Free drinks were as plenty as you could get. The waitresses were around every 15 minutes or less mostly. Tipping each drink with $1 seemed to be the standard mode of action. I did drink while playing since I wanted to enjoy the experience rather than win more. But one reg did tell me that, only tourists drank and played here

The dealers were mostly kind and new what they were doing. Almost no issues there.

I'll answer any questions you may have about Harrah's New Orleans Casino.

Veni, vidi, vici!

There are PLENTY of regs at Harrahs-NOLA who drink. Not all drink heavily, but they DO drink alcohol. I think they are worried about the prospect of too much blood getting into their alcohol stream, but I digress...

It's one of my homes away from home...so not quite a tourist but also not quite a reg. Been that way now for a small handful of years...

One thing I try to do when three betting premiums oop against fishy fields especially, is try to bet an amount where villain is not getting a lot more than 10x implied odds to call your raise.

So for example, in this hand you raised to 22 over six making it 16 for him to call... Just glancing at the hand you're laying him around 18x implied odds which makes a lot of speculative hands a profitable call... When you're deeper you can't really do it, but when villain is around 100bb like they often will be, you can usually bet an amount that leaves them calling for not a whole lot more than 10x implied.

I hate your turn bet. You're making hands you can get value from fold...

And FYI your five sessions at the casino mean absolutely nothing. It's good you played well for a few sessions, but you're no better or worse than you were when you walked into the casino. It's very important you understand that. Develop the concepts you were working on for the next year and then maybe you'll have something.

Thanks for the reply and the suggestions.
I wanted at least one of them to fold and the other to call my raise, so my raise was lower than I intended. However I'll look into the implied odds in such situations in the future too.

You are definitely right about the turn bet.

I'll have more live experience this winter so I'm hoping to transfer my experience -or the lack of it- to live tables as well.

              Cheers!

OK, finally my first 10k hands are here!

It took me 4473 minutes (74,5 hours) to reach 10k hands (I never was a grinder).
I mostly played with alcohol, and did not care much about the HUD.
But I enjoyed myself and that's what matters for me (aside from winning).

After noticing that HM2 did not log Blaze hands as it should, I removed all blaze games from the database (I was still showing a profit there anyways).

My current BB/100 is about 3,5 which is low for my standards, but so is the sample size.
I also had €2 rakeback which is not included in the calculations.

I plan to play more sensibly in the next 10k hands...

"I plan to play more sensibly in the next 10k hands"

I really decided to do this and will make improvements in 3 areas first:

              1. Attain a VPIP of less than 38% (currently it is 42,2%).

              2. Read first 10 COTW, take notes and apply to your game.

              3. Finish reading CTMS and take notes and apply to your game.

I've read 10 of the COTWs and my VPIP is falling down, which is good.
My red line is still going up and the blue is going down, yet the green line has stabilized, and now I am aware that when I am making a mistake -but still do make that wrong move from time to time.

One interesting thing is that the % of games I win has increased, probably due to isolating limpers and a better c-bet sizing on my side.

I agree that tight is good and those hands are not to be played OOP -nor at all. However my raise was to have those guys who showed that they were unsure of their hands -by calling rather than raising- to fold, which seems to succeed most of the time.

By the way, I have entered 2 bounty tournaments with ~30 contestants and came in 1st at both of them, which has been a huge boost to my bank roll. Playing at tourneys also help me play tighter.
