Okay,
so some banks do have indeed deposits offering up to 25% per year in hryvnas, hovewerm the inflation itself is fairly high (despite what the official sources tell you). I don't know about foreign depositors, but there are some pretty stable banks here. Of course, there were tones of them back in 2008ish i guess because of the crisis and stuff.

Also, we have a fairly high debt to the ICF (International Currency Fund, not sure if it is the right abbreviation in English) so overall it's not that good to deposit money here.

Especially when our politicians are not interested in the nation's well-being at all, they have only their personal interest in mind.

So, thanks for the question, but BEWARE OF ANY ECONOMICAL RELATIONS WITH UKRAINE!

Thanks Disa and Coon74 for the very informative answers!

Seems like the multifaceted risks, obstacles to foreign participation and low limit (and potential hassle) of deposit insurance make it lower ev and higher variance than I originally thought. Still, speculative stock market investors in the US would kill for rates like these (even with under-reported inflation)!

In future perspective, Ukraine may be a very sweet place to invest money in, but so far you have to be suicidal.

Day 22.
FINALLY! I played 50NL! I had fun, even though the rake bites here aswell.

I spent 5 great hours at the tables (including waiting time).

My PC is going crazy because of the multiple pokerrooms, but so far it hasn't crushed.

I finished breakeven I guess. Not sure because my HM2 doesn't track Enet network plus my internet lagged for a while so I lost a few hands.

I'M ****ING HAPPY!!!

EV is so sad because of the cooler at the very beginning JJ>KK, and later on I did something stupid but still won a pot on a low board AQ>99.

Just saw this thread -- good luck to you OP. I'm a HU player too.

I just wanted to say HU cash might not be the most profitable form of poker as of now, but I haven't played much lately so I can't comment much. Plus you seem to be excited and working hard, so I'm not gonna rain on your parade.

What might be the most profitable form of poker in ur opinion??

I'd say MTTs are the best from the reg-to-fish ratio point of view.

As of now, it's probably husng's and plo cash

I hear that HUSNGs are very hard at this time and PLO is great but very high-variance.

Hard doesn't mean it's not profitable, and I don't think HU cash will be easier than HUSNG anyway. PLO is both more profitable and more volatile than NLHE, yes.

Day 25.
I'm not used to everything yet. Been playing very scared_little_girl style for a few days, and, considering my weak all-in skills, things were not going so good.

Today Gordon watched me play for a while, and I got THE EPIPHANY!

Overall, I've never played this much as I do now. My tables are opened for 8 hours or so. Of course, I don't play 100% of that time, because sometimes ppl just don't play me, but still, I have a lot of enthusiasm!

I bumhunt for now. And even though it's not so cool and stuff, but I'm frankly scared to play regulars. Need to get more experience.

And, of course, ppl run me over like gods sometimes:

Lol, a guy on a russian forum said the same thing.

I know you would prefer to see me crying over a bad session, but actually the result doesn't influence my opinion that much.

I haven't had so much fun for quite a while now, and of course, I'm glad my efforts paid of a bit at this point.

From a psychological point of view it's good too.

Day 30.
Hello my precious readers!

Today I have two poker questions for you.

1. I'm not sure what to do in this spot against a calling station:
Merge, $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 2 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

Hero (SB): $51.73 (103.5 bb)
BB: $89.98 (180 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with A K
Hero raises to $1, BB raises to $4, Hero raises to $14, BB calls $10

Flop: ($28) 9 6 5 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($28) J (2 players)
BB bets $15, Hero folds

2. So a guy has a call BB of 49% and a 3bet of 32%. I believe it makes sense to start limping a part of my range. And which part it should be? His 3bet range is vague and he is a calling station postflop.

Thanks!

Is 28bbs your standard 4B sizing?

Last edited by czechvengeance; 08-21-2013 at 06:23 AM. Reason: also a cbet seems mandatory

If a guy is a calling station, why wouldn't I want to make my 4bet as big as possible?

ummmm because you then check the flop when you dont hit anything?

Ye but I still have a decent Ahigh hand which can win a lot of showdowns and/or hit one of my outs.

It's not my standard 4bet sizing.

if you cbet otf, even if you get called you are very likely to see river so why didnt you? you think hes gonna check it down a lot?

i'd agree with 4betting as much as you can get away with if you had a made hand but why not keep it smaller w AK and try to hit a pair? its not like its gonna be super hard to get the money in postflop and for obvious reasons you dont need to worry about balance
