On the political stuff democracy is a long way from the worst possible system of government. To say that is insanity of the highest order. Yeah big business and the media have too much say and you get exploited but its still better than most attempts at Communism or dictatorship that the world has tossed up so far.

The dream scenario would be democracy run by the best and brightest not for power, money and influence but for the good of all and given a remit for action by the voting of the people they represent. Sadly due to human nature and our existing political systems this is impossible.

Communism is doomed due to the same corruption with the added complication of the free rider problem. Who wants the toughest jobs if there is no incentive.

Dictators/autocracies will always fail as you need a benevolent leader uninterested in themselves. These people rarely rise to positions of influence and even if they do absolute power corrupts absolutely. As a result the best of them always avoid taking total power.

All systems of mass government could be amazing under the right circumstances. Its just that these will never exist. Democracy/capitalism is just the best able to cope with this imperfect world of self interested corruptable humans. Until we are united by a common purpose (which we should be) and money and self interest is set aside this will be all that exists IMO.
