I actually did play live today at Bike, first hand it got chopped, uh-oh. Second hand it folds to the SB (who just chopped the previous hand) who minraises and takes it down. Instant comedy. Action picked up though, lots of players had to wait 1 hour+ to get to the table and I feel like that makes anyone ready to gamble.

~~~~~~
I got kinda soulread in an unusual manner here. He prob had a low pocket pair
5/5 NLHE, Hero raise A8 in LJ to $20, SB call, BB call.
Flop 886, pot $55
Checks to me, I bet $25, BB calls.
Turn 6, pot $95
Villain leads $40, I call, villain mucks.
First coaching session was NL50 with CrunchyBlack who also has a PG&C here and has given the OK to post it. Got through about 30 minutes of footage. I screwed up the black space on the sides of the video apparently
Free coaching #2
Same thing as before, first person who DM's me a link I can open in my browser to watch a recorded session. Will do at least 1 more (but likely more than 1) after this as I still need practice for myself.
Any limits up to NL100/PLO100
so I'm pretty much in full swing of things these days. Starting to mix in NL500/PLO500 as well
but after a serious grind session, sometimes I like to smoke some weed and "wind down" playing down a stake (NL100 or PLO100). On one hand, I feel like it has to be better than playing some chess or Overwatch like I normally would instead. On the other, I'm cautious that it may contribute to burnout or have other adverse side effects (e.g., not fully relaxing during my allotted relaxation time). In the end, I'm sure everyone has to find their own path and what works for them.
But what do you guys think? Better to relax with some full-on relaxation or relax with some NL100?
I play pretty long hours as is. Moving down in stakes would not be very relaxing.
Would much rather rest and prepare for the next day.
Sometimes I just can't relax without multitasking and will feel better having 4 tables open while watching netflix rather than scrolling my phone or doing something else. But it doesn't seem healthy - it's like my brain is hooked on the little dopamine rushes that you get while playing and sometimes I can't turn it off.
What really helps me is to get some exercise, do some chores around the house and then take a shower after grinding instead of going straight from grind -> relax.
Oh hey it's Jarretman! A friend recently introduced me to your youtube channel, I've seen several episodes so far, excellent material.
Thanks for the comments. Easier for me to get my mind off poker after driving home from a live session rather than playing games on the same computer that is a few clicks away from checking the tables
I think I should have sized up turn more here although probably wouldn't have gotten paid on river anyway
5/5 NLHE. 100% VPIP villian limp CO, I $20 on BTN with 22, BB calls. $750 effective
Flop 752, pot $60
BB check, V lead $15, I raise to $65, BB folds, V calls.
Turn 9, pot $190
V leads $45, I raise to $175, V says "no diamond" and calls.
River J, pot $540
Check, I jam ~$500, V flashes a 5 and folds.
I witnessed a new tactic of utilizing pot odds today
5/5 NLHE. UTG+1 (EP) limp, HJ limp, Hero $35 with AJ in CO, BB call, EP call, HJ call.
Flop T54, pot $140
Checks around.
Turn 6, pot $140
Checks to HJ who bets $60, I fold, BB call, EP calls.
River 5, pot $320
Checks to HJ who bets $80, EP folds out of turn and flashes a 4, BB calls, then EP takes her cards back and overcalls! TBH it would be a pretty sweet angle if she had better than bottom pair. HJ had 98, BB had T8.
+1. I’ve been watching the Jarretman YT vids lately as well. I have a heads up in the general chat thread half a year ago but no one responded to it.
Definitely quality material. Thanks Jarretman if ya happen to catch this post.
Hi all,
Aesah was kind enough to do a pro bono coaching session to help with my 5/5/10 live PLO game.
We chatted via Discord prior to the session about how the game plays, and I recorded some hands for discussion at my latest game.
The 1 hour session was in depth covering:
Preflop RFI, cold calling, 3bet ranges etc
Flop stack off ranges at various SPRs
Tilt, bankroll management and variance
Highly recommended, hoping to pay for the next session
