Thanks for the comments everyone. I have 30+ buyins for 10/25, but to be honest even if I go busto it's OK because I'm doing the part time job now which covers my cheapass typical living expenses (as in I won't have to cut back on my standard lifestyle at all).

Of course I don't plan on going busto. But yea, playing 1/3 when you've experienced a game where I think I can make $700/hr just makes me feel like my poker career should be optimized by spending like 80% of the time looking for a game, 20% actually playing poker. Like I played 1/3 today and it just felt stupid.

Anyway uhhh I played 4 hours PLO today, was up $216. Lost a pot with the nut boat vs quads then later won a pot with straight flush vs quads. lol. WTF I'M USING MY FRIENDS COMPUTER AND THE CAPS LOCK KEY IS STUCK. SHIFT DOESN'T WORK EITHER. SCREW MACBOOKS. GOOD THING I'M PRETTY MUCH DONE WRITING THIS.

Cool I fixed the capslock.

So just for fun, I wanted to do a reader appreciation thingamajigger thing and offer you guys a freeroll/lottery/raffle doohickey worth ~$100. Details: I'm playing in a HU tourney $150 buyin and I estimate myself at ~100% ROI on June 9th at Rivers, and I've decided to pay for it myself and give away the winnings (if any) split 3 ways to readers. You must have posted in this thread at least once to qualify (prior to this post).

You can put your name in the drawing by writing a haiku in this thread. I'll pick my favorite 3 by the end of this weekend.

This comment made me realize how active I've been here, 3 days without an update and it feels like forever. Anyway, some poker friends came to visit and we stayed 3 nights in a hotel and I didn't have my laptop. In fact I didn't have anything at all since I wasn't planning to stay in the hotel- I didn't even a change of clothes and I wore the same outfit for 72+ hours straight.

I made this really spewy play which upset me significantly more than any other hand I've played in my entire poker career:

2/5 holdem, 1 limper in EP, hero raises to $35 from MP with JT, solid middle age guy in SB calls, limper calls.

Flop QJ5, pot $105
Check, check, Hero bets $100, SB raises to $250, Hero shoves for $400 more. SB calls with QJ.

At the time I was thinking the only hands that made sense here for him were air, draws, 55, and QJ. But yea, sometimes they actually do have 55 and QJ. Also, villain had just check/raised me on the river a couple hands ago and I folded. The thing that really makes this play so atrocious is that I had been winning nearly every single pot I played this session without showdown, so this particular villain probably expected to me cbet and shove over his check/raise very frequently even though it's very rare for me to do so. It's no excuse of course, but I'll add this was in a mixed game so I was probably itching for action after nitting it up for an orbit of Omaha. OOPS.

I didn't book-keep very well since I was hanging out with friends. My best guess is that I played roughly 10 hours and lost $500 so I'll go with that (Omaha figures are now being included!!!!! Not sure if it should be seperate since I'm 100x worse at Omaha, but meh I'm lazy). TBH I'm not even sure if I should count this, since I intentionally sat with my poker-savvy friends and screwed around (stuff like betting $3 on river when last to act and insisting it was a "block bet"). Ah well. I'll add it in.

Despite being down I'm really happy. I'm actually kind of scared I'm never going to make any more money because I'll be addicted to sitting with friends. #SpiteCallingGregIsTooFun

Re: Haikus. COME ON GUYS. I'm trying to give away free money and you guys are failing hard at getting it. Reizen's Diablo haiku is the only legitimate entry right now, asianinvasion's would be good but didn't fit the rules of requiring a previous post in the thread (sorry ). I can't accept Huaj's or LeeCrab's because they are not haikus (unless you pronouce "qq" with one syllable?).

So yea... I'll extend that offer for a couple days. If no one really wants free moneys I don't mind keeping it

Not in the mood to write much but I had yet another losing session today. Tried to play 1/3 like it was 5/10, way way way too many bluffs in my range. Need to revert back to my old low variance style of doing stuff like open folding KTo from MP at 1/3 tables, I'm convinced it's the way to go even though 2+2 will hate me. Ran into quads for the 3rd time in the past 2 days too wtf.

-$281, 3 hours.

Pittsburgh total: -$2832, 27 hours. Wow, now I'm negative even not counting the day at Meadows. That is bad. Although- if I had shipped that set v flush draw for $15k...

Will still be accepting haikus but I'm glad to see some people actually did it correctly.

Played super hilarious session today at Rivers 1/3, very first hand I sit down this guy who constantly referred to himself in 3rd person as Jesse opens for $55 UTG (just grabs a fistful of chips he has no idea how much). Some guy on the button flats, it gets checked down when the board runs out KJ932 and the button wins with 8 high holding 87s (UTG had 54s). I'm already very happy at this point.

An orbit later or so I limp with JJ, Jesse makes it like $80. I shove, he calls with QQ. Sigh, but I'm still laughing because it's pretty funny. Rebuy obv.

About an orbit after that, Jesse announces he's shoving blind. Despite this, some guy straddles anyway (???), Jesse shoves, I'm in the HJ with A5o. 5 people to act after me... hero??? Anyway I SNAPCALL, everyone else folds and I hold against J2s.

Some hands I wasn't involved in but want to share is that Jesse won a hand and ran around the table beating his chest like king kong shouting "donate to Jesse!", after that he won the next hand and danced around singing "this is why I'm hot". Fun stuff.

Another hand I wasn't involved in but I thought was kind of interesting was some middle age guys opens on the button to $25 over a straddle and some limpers, gets a couple callers. Board is T74r, checked to him, he bets $40. Some guy check/raises for $47 more. Button folds KTs!!! The other guy had a set, but I think I'm really overestimating how tight people's preflop raising ranges are. Never thought he would have KT there.

Another VERY FUNNY HAND. Big blind in seat 1 doesn't realize he's in BB, so he shoves for $40 before anyone does anything at all. Despite a thorough explanation that it's binding if no one else raises and everyone knows he's going to shove no matter what anyway, FIVE PEOPLE LIMP. The limper UTG flats the shove, and the other four fold. WHAATT. How do you limp fold here. Seriously. HOW. ESPECIALLY after the first guy calls. Anyway, big blind had 99 which held up against UTG's J2s (lol).

Another hand, I check Q5o in the bb. flop is QT4ss, I lead into 4 players for $15. One caller. I lead blank turn for $40, he calls. I put him all in on the river for like $40 more on a blank expecting a snapcall, he folds Q9!!

RE: Haikus. So I found out this HU tourney is actually like a mega-hyper-ultra turbo where you start with 100bb and the blinds double every ~5 hands. Not gonna play in it but I'll make sure to give GoBlues/LeeCrab2/Reizen420XD freeroll action in my next tourney.

Was up $520 today.

Pittsburgh total: -$2312, 30 hours.

Back in Cleveland. Two more sessions, up $225 in 3 hours, then up $392 in 4 hours. My internet access is becoming spotty again so this post is gonna be a bit rushed.

-I got owned hard when I put this guy on a bluff, called with AQ (high card ace). He shows AK (high card ace). 200bb pot. Binked the 3 outer on the river though. The other guy kept his cool at the table, but returned an hour later to report that he lost $6k on blackjack so I guess he was a bit mad nice guy, I felt bad.

-Got 4 bet bluffed twice in a row when I was holding Kx and had the best hand both times. Need to tone down my squeeze frequencies vs good players.

-I spotted a $25 chip on the ground that I could reach from my seat, looked around and no one seemed to be looking for anything so I insta-pocketed it. Who wouldn't have done the same?

-Got clock called on me for the first time in my poker career. I raised KQo, some callers, 4 way flop.

Flop KQ8r, pot $80

Old guy who's like halfway between tight and nit leads for $50, I make it $150, he makes it $350 with $300 behind I cover. Guy not in the hand calls clock, I said **** it and shoved. We ended up chopping but I think it should have been a fold in retrospect if his range almost entirely 88 and KQ only. MAYBE he can have AA, rarely K8/Q8 but I dunno. It's really close, I think fold is better.

-Up $623 in 7 hours. Not sure which total to add it to for bookkeeping but I'll figure out later.

I have just read the entire thread. Really respect your choice of living your dream. I envy you for that.

However, as I have read on, I get a feeling that you are starting to slip. You clearly does not take it as seriously as in the beginning, and you start to spew more and more (from my point of view). You started out with a solid strategy, and now you seem to not care about 1-2/1-3 limits anymore and just want that 10-25 rush.

To sum up, really enjoyed the start of this thread, but becoming more sceptical now. Hope you turn things around!
