Re: june volume target for fifithecat

You have proved to everyone and most importantly to yourself that you do have the work ethic. Most people attempting this challenge would have quit once the going got tough. Mass multi-tabling and insanely long hours are going to have an extremely detrimental affect on your game, the fact you are not busto is also impressive, I think I would have bust on day one or two if trying this.

In July if you do put in anywhere near the same effort working with Dunc - you will crush.

Re: june volume target for fifithecat

Finally can see some sort of ending in sight. 20 days of the challenge is over and now it's all about finishing it off.

I did try adding in mor tables again to make the final leg of the month easier but managed to drop $146 in less than 1/2 a day so I'm back 12 tabling again.

Re: june volume target for fifithecat

wow nice waste of time

no offence but playing so many hours without any $$ compensation is just stupid, and how do you manage to get such a low roi playing with brain dead people is beyond me :P (you must really try or be brain dead as well)

it would have been a nice try in old days where 1vpp was minimum you can get per tournament, so you got >100% rb playing micro sngs as a SN

have fun in wasting 100 more hours :>

Playing higher stakes without ever having tested yourself at this volume would be more stupid imo. Taking that kind of gamble and potentially losing a load is not any better. I don't think the money had anything to do with this challenge anyway.

Turning $50 into $320 in 3 weeks while maintaining a decent enough BRM so he can play high volume and sustain hyper swings.... well done OP.

Must be tough to get up and and bring your A game after watching 20,000 monotonous games flow by in the last 20 days lol

glgl for last 10 days

Incredible volume. What's the game plan after June is over? You probably want a higher ROI before moving to higher stakes? I can't believe how much rake you've paid, sick... cashing in those FPPs for cash?

If he started this from 0 vpp this year and bronze star you'd get $600 in stellar and fpp bonuses at the end of the month. He's already said he played 10k $7's earlier this year and if he moves up to $3.50's he's earn more points so this could be a little higher. Bankroll estimated ~$1k by end of the month all totalled up if he continues like this.

Very sick indeed.

Exactly, I wouldn't be too worried about the low ROI when I'm earning that much rakeback. Just a question of this actually being physically sustainable, lol.

10 days left when you wrote that @ 16 hours a day

10 x 16 = 100 hours??

Guess you're lucky there's no math involved in poker

will prob play 235fpp satellites to convert to T$'s.

Re: june volume target for fifithecat

Epic Fail

I gave the challenge a good run. On the 18th I saw my cashier with $530 in it, but on the evening of the 24th my tables stopped opening. I had blown through the entire bankroll I had built in 6 days. I had managed to keep myself going earlier in the month focusing on other irrelevant things, like going for a sharkscope leaderboard, having a profit goal in my mind, but none of these were real goals I had set up before the challenge.

The mental strain had affected me so bad i remember not being to tell the time when looking at the digital clock on the computer. I couldn't work out what my poker hand was. I was misclicking more than I had through the whole challenge so far.

For a split second when the tables stopped opening I didn't know what to do, but i quickly opened the cashier and cashed in 3 $50 stellar rewards to carry on. I proceeded to play on the 25th but was still playing so bad and was dropping more money when I knew I should be beating the games if compus mentus. I realised that as I couldn't focus on the slightest details of the game that to finish the challenge I would end up dropping another $500, which for a moment I accepted and continued playing as I had built up enough fpp's/bonuses to convert to over $500.

I realised however, that anyone could play 30,000 sngs if they were prepared to lose money, so where was the challenge in that? I couldn't justify carrying on and finishing the 30k games by losing. To say I was gutted after playing poker for 16 hours a day for 25 days was an understatement. The first time I said the challenge was over aloud to someone I felt physically sick and it even brought a tear to my eye.

I had failed my challenge. The overall goal of the challenge of killing off lazy john has been achieved though. I have started my July schedule already (see below). Although i am not playing poker on the 26th and will just get in an easy day on the 27th. I need a bit of time to allow my brain to recover as going from 100 games a day in may to 1,000 really did take its toll. I can safely say that i cannot see a reason to ever try this again... unless lazy john returns and I need to punish him. Or I manage to learn how players like Quadchrazs have their poker setup so I can manage to profitably 18 table for the month. It would be interesting to see how many games is actually possible for a month, although it is highly unlikely I would attempt it as I fail to see the benefit of even trying.

So let's start with some pics:

The cashier finishes for the month on 137.76 as I have collected $160 in bonuses, so in effect I am down my initial $50, plus 160 - 137.76 = 22.24. Finishing down -$72.24 in actual game profit.

I have spent 3 fpp's to get those 3 stellar rewards and have 29101.08 fpp's left. There were 101.99 in there initially so fpp's earned 29101.08 - 101.99 = 28999.09 fpp's left from what was earned this month. So the total fpp's earned is 28999.09 + 3 = 29002.09.

So how much do I think those fpp's are worth. Well I will be converting them to T$'s playing the 235 fpp satellites and they have a break-even conversion ration of 700 fpp's = $11. So In my mind I have 28999.09 / 700 = 41 and multiply this 41 by the $11 and we get $451. I do expect to do a little better than the break-even ratio so will expect it to be a bit more.

So I do make a tiny profit after rakeback, but that wasn't what it was all about.

I didn't finish my 1,000 games on the 25th after deciding the challenge was over. I actually finished on 24850 sngs.

I realised why HEM has me still playing 30 games. When finishing off a session I was closing Hem as soon as the final game was over, before it has imported the final hand. This is also why the HEM $ figure differs from the cashier as those final games were the ones where I would have been cashing. 394.2 hours played over the 24 3/4 days. Averaging out to around 16 hours of poker per day.

My graph of the month was going up very slowly over the first 18 days. At which time my brain had trouble coping and I couldn't make the easiest decisions. I donked off the money from the 19th to the 24th with such terrible play. Like I said I did try carrying on with some of my rakeback/fpp's but decided to stop as I knew I would be just donking off to complete the challenge.

After deciding to end it there I started my new schedule on the 26th June.

So here's my new schedule. My days will be flexible and I can pick which blocks to play poker. If I'm busy in the morning I will play in the afternoon/night and vice versa. All blocks are 2.5 hrs in length, which will mean opening tables for a little over 2 hours and then playing the games out. I have a staking arrangement already set up and my poker plans are to start the $7 hypers as soon as I get a couple of sessions in at the $3.50s to rebuild. I will also be reducing to 4 tabling for a while to get back to profitable decision making, building up to 9 tabling tiled by the end of the July.

SCHEDULE:

3AM - 6AM CORE SLEEP

Breakfast
30 min exercise
Wash
TV/Relax

9AM - 9.20AM (20 MIN NAP)

BLOCK 1 - 9.30AM - 12NOON

BLOCK 2 - 12.30PM - 3.00PM

3PM - 3.20PM (20 MIN NAP)

BLOCK 3 - 3.30PM - 6PM

BLOCK 4 - 6.30PM - 9.00PM

9PM - 9.20PM (20 MIN NAP)

BLOCK 5 - 9.30 - 12MIDNIGHT

BLOCK 6 - 12.30AM - 3AM

I have 3 kinds of days planned:

Easy - 2 poker sessions = 5 hours
Medium - 3/4 poker sessions = 7.5/10 hours
Hard - 5/6 poker sessions - 12.5/15 hours

This means that I will be playing/studying a minimum 5 hours per day/35 hours per week, but expect to really get in 2 easy days per week (10hrs), 3 medium days(25hrs), and 2 hard days (25hrs). That is going to be approximately a 60 hour week, but I will have a slightly lower target to pass the 50 hour mark. I see this a fairly easy schedule to hit due to polyphasic sleeping, and the way I have structured my day I can easily just have an easy day by doing nothing all day and just playing blocks 5 and 6 in the evening. I can have my poker done by 3pm doing blocks 1 and 2 and then I'm free for 12 hours until my 3am sleep.

Some days I will play poker in the first block, have 5 minutes, and then study any hands I marked in the following block. Some days will be just playing poker, but I will make sure I get in at least 4 study blocks per week.

In summary I quite like the look of my days in that I can get in some massive volume on a hard day, but also take a nice break on an easy day by not playing poker from 6am - 9pm and I will still hit at least 50 hours p/wk.

Everyone should now prepare for the meteoric rise of fifithecat.

Now the challenge is over I have some numbers from the month I found interesting:

6-8 : litres of water drank per day

50 : starting $'s

2 : number of times i mentally cracked under the strain and cried while playing poker. This was in the first week when the shock of playing 16 hour days was too much.

24850 : sngs played

37,275: $'s spent on sngs (24850 x 1.50)

2,485: $'s in rake paid to PokerStars

530 : $'s I saw in cashier at highest point

2 : how often I thought of giving up (in seconds)

Every time : how often I laughed at the radio commercial starting "Have you ever thought of having cosmetic surgery? Then talk to my breast"

Wow epic post. Certainly wouldn't call that failure. You set out to build up a good work ethic and given your schedule for July you are certainly keeping it up. Seriously, even your easy day seems tough lol. Maybe I'm lazy and need to do this Haha.

Congratz tho man. Hope we'll be hearing a lot more from you over the coming months

I intentionally avoided talking too much about polyphasic sleeping as some people say it is bad for your health and there's no evidence either way.

All I can do is point you in the right direction for information.

Try googling one of the following people "steve pavlina" or "pure doxyk" along with the word polyphasic. They are the two I read about first when heard about it. There's also a site dedicated to the idiots who do this sleep style called trypolyphasic.com

Yeah, be careful man! Make sure you get enough sleep and don't overdo it (might be too late for that one!) I wouldn't call this an epic fail at all...
