Hey guys, so started taking cash games seriously from December 2016 (all images are from 01/12/16 - present). I didn't have much interest in zoom at this time as I found cash tables softer. I found 5nl very easy to begin with playing quite simple ABC poker. People where making so many mistakes that I didn't feel any need to employ fancy strats. Started with $100 and ran it up pretty fast was at $200 by Jan.

In Jan I started play 10nl, 20BI seemed fine and ran that upto $300 by mid Jan. I thought I was crushing them games but looking back it was just a good run. I knew I wasn't the best by far at the stakes but I was very good at finding bad players and getting position on them. During this time I kept looking at the 16nl games because they looked really soft when compared to 10nl. So I took some shots running 3 10nl and 1 16nl.

I did pretty well starting out at 16nl making $40 in 400 hands. So started playing this as my reg stake. This only lasted a couple of sessions however going from +$40 to -$50. Some bad beats and losing some flips also I just do not feel I had the experience to play with the people there.

This crushed my bankroll and confidence. I dropped back to 10nl and found I was struggling. This is when I started to realise that I needed to improve my overall play. So made my bankroll management 30BI instead of 20.

I started playing cash table 5nl again and found that a lot of the tricks I was doing at 10nl and 16nl simply didn't work because they was going over the opps head. I had to go back to simple ABC poker.

This is when I started playing zoom because I didn't have to spend as my energy table selecting and finding fish, I could focus on playing better. This is basically the story so far.

My Bankroll is around $250 now; going to focus on 5nl zoom for the time being as I can get a lot more hands per hour with 2 tables of zoom vs 4 reg and find I am more focused.

So Goal:
  • When I get back upto $300 ill be mixing between zoom and reg 10NL
  • Focus on number of hands instead of results
  • Keep learning on and off the table around work
  • 25NL by the end of the year
  • Play and learn more PLO because it is so much fun

Took shots today at 10nl with $270, ran $20 below ev. That's karma I guess for not waiting for 30bi(just kidding). Played well and very soft although it was Saturday and games are always softer. My A game started to slip at the end, after my second KK vs AA of the day and then shortly after my KK got beat by QQ. I stopped playing before I tilt which is something I struggle with a lot.

But I guess the past two days on party make up for it at 5nl

For now focusing on reg tables at 5nl on stars and party. Should be ready for another shot on a Saturday in early may.

Was a bit ill today, so made table selecting my focus as new I would not be on my A game and had my second most profitable day so far. Not gunna focus on getting back to 10nl atm just going to try and play in the softest games and run it up on some other sites.

How are the 5nl fast-forward tables on Party vs 5nl zoom on stars?

Currently grinding 2nl zoom on stars but I notice 5nl is the lowest fast forward limit on party and party has a reputation for being softer than stars. Thinking of putting some cash on party and taking a shot.

Party zoom is softer, its a smaller player pool so you get better reads, mainly full of nits with a few huge fish, if you doing well on 2nl zoom you should have no problem with party

      • No looking at results for first week, only using HM for session hand numbers and sesh reviews with net and bb hide

      Reg

      Zoom

      Overall

I am also quitting weed this month to see how it effects volume and results, also to try and get a normal sleep schedule which should also help.

Did a fair amount of studying last month so gunna try to keep that up and keep on grinding

Total Graph since returning to 10nl

After 1200 hands was a session after having some family drama that I shouldn't have played, Vs kept getting there on the river and I was too frustrated to fold. Taken a few days off, reviewed the session and am happy to keep grinding 10nl especially on the weekends.

I am tempted to get flopzilla soon more for zoom than reg. I feel confident and comfortable on reg tables due to reads however without (zoom) I feel a bit lost in some spots. I can create better defined ranges as I know mine in some of the less common spots are really meh.

Not looking at results went okay but I do find it harder to spot when my A game is slipping.

      Thanks mate

I have cut right back but not quit yet, from about a gram a day to one bowl to help me sleep when i have work. Not any real noticeable different so far, i did manage to play a morning session before work that I could never do in the past. I got two days off now so hopefully will have none on these two days and I will go from there.

      June Update
      • Volume was terrible
      • Was really hand to grind during heat wave
      • Played Meh most of the time
      • Played when I had other things on my mind
      • Been focusing on some life stuff outside of poker
      • Confident in my game but still looking to improve
      • Played two live cash games with friends up £5 in first and £92 in second (PLO coolers are fun)
      • Failed pretty hard on quitting weed
      • Got a prop bet with a friend this month to quit, Laid him 3/1 so as long as I don't get drunk and **** up should be weed free easy.

      Graphs

      July Plan
      • Play what I want, When I want
      • 2nl, 5nl, 10nl Mix, Zoom and Reg
      • Do some more range work
      • Got off to a good start although very small sample size

I think you most likely just need to find some life hacks to squeeze in more volume if possible, ~11k hands a month is pretty slim.
