About 148/160 hours played. I've managed to grind back into the green this month on Ignition. Still down as I lost a bunch on Carbon, so it's going to be a losing month to start off the year(unless I just heater these next 2 days). This isn't the way I wanted to start 2017 but what can you do. Might as well get the bad run/losing streak out of the way early in the year I guess. Graph, hands, and all that jazz in a couple of days.

January

165/160 hours played.

Spoiler:

Giraffe.

Spoiler:

Just nothing seems to be going right at 2/4 and 3/6, and I'm not sure on what to do. I'm about $5k in make up. It's going to take another full month of grinding @ 1/2 just to get even. Since August of last year, I've only had a total cashout of $4,868.95. 4 of those 6 months I've been in make up. Lowest point was almost 5 figures.

2/4 and 3/6 is just getting me deeper into make up, then I have to drop down to 1/2, work twice as hard just to get out of make up.

Do I just grind 1/2 for the next couple of months? I'm at the point where I'm almost broke.

Would help if you post your entire samples of 1/2-3/6 with ev winrates. If you aren't winning or are only a very tiny winner at higher stakes than it obv doesn't make sense to grind higher than 1/2 until you work on things. But if you are just running poorly over a meaningless sample than just keep firing and game selecting well and eventually it'll turn around. In terms of almost being broke, imo poker is not a good thing to be doing as a profession if you are just barely scraping by. Idk what your education history/other job prospects are though. You could see if your backers will give you a small % early profit chop while in makeup in order to get some money coming in while you grind the makeup back at 1/2. It could also make sense to get a diff job and juggle it with poker depending on what's available to you. In the future always make sure to save as much as you can as we all go through long stretches where the cards don't cooperate so it's important to have savings. glgl

I'd recommend getting new backers if the current ones aren't helping you improve your game. Or rework the stake so your makeup gets canceled after a set amount of hands. Otherwise they are just siphoning off money you could have used to build a healthier bankroll without giving any value added.

Here's what I have since August 2016. After posting a $14.5k in July 2016, everything has been downhill from there. Just nothing seems to being going right since then. Pretty sure I'm just a fish that went on a heater.

Spoiler:

I'm down $1,700 today and it's really getting to the point of ridiculous. I'm just going to move down again and grind everything back. I'll also tell backers I'm not going to be touching any 2/4 or 3/6 until out of make up. About $6,000 in make up.

It's hard not to add in some 2/4 or 3/6, because some tables get really good. It's just unfortunate of how things have been running lately.

you should just stick to 200nl for like 3 months straight

if you're like a +-1.5 w/r at 2/4 and 3/6 your graph could just be some runbad. your sample is big enough you can check other things to figure that out though. also normally playing higher than normal while in mu isn't a great idea, but i get it if the games good it's good

People way underestimate variance, it can be a lot sicker than most think. If it makes you feel better, everyone goes through periods of running worse than they ever thought possible, and that's why it is so hard to be successful in this game long term. That being said, although 250k hands isn't the be all,end all, it is a pretty large sample and your ev winrate is pretty small. You've clearly been running a bit bad in aiev, you could be running bad in other not trackable ways, but your winrate likely is only around a couple bb/100 at most and so you're going to have way worse swings. Do you think you are game selecting as well as you could at 2/4-3/6? Do you feel like you play worse/scared in the bigger games because of the $ amt? Imo you should cut out all 3/6 and just game select the best 1/2-2/4 and more actively work on your game whether that be through coaching sessions with your backer or watching rio vids or pouring through hh/database stuff. Raising your winrate will be the most beneficial thing you can work towards right now (obvi).

I've managed to cut my make up in half. Worst point was -$6.2k. Been playing nothing but 1/2 and already passed the 50 hour mark for the month.

Missing yesterday and today's hands, but here is what I have since moving down:

Spoiler:

Brutal past 2 months. I hope things start to change soon.

Spoiler:

https://www.upswingpoker.com/staking...-stake-makeup/

An interesting read on staking. I've made all the mistakes listed on here and won't be making them again. My plan is to save up $8k then play on my own dime. I'm not sure how long this will take. My guess is at least 5-6 months. I made the mistake of playing under a stake for way too long, and I should have gotten out when I had $16k saved up. I wanted to play higher but didn't want to risk my money and I ended up in make up too much of the time. I have no plans on playing higher than 1/2 at the moment.

I've managed to slash 2/3 of makeup since I've dropped down to 1/2. Stuck about -$2.4k.

I had an hour coaching session yesterday. I took a concept waaaay to far and some of my lines were way out of line. Other than that I need to pick better spots to cbet in multiway pots, and develop a checking range as PFR.

Not sure how CO folds KTo vs your triple. Pretty solid call pre tho, lol.

Don't really like about 2/3 of your triples, but can be ok vs population. Couple were vs whales tho and dont like that.

I've cut my make up down to -$780. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I can finally breathe a little bit.

Went on a huge card rush yesterday, mainly just preflop coolering everyone.

I am finally out of make up and +$54 for the set. Took exactly 2 weeks!

Here is everything(but today) since I moved down. I was stuck -$6,200 at worst point:

                          Spoiler:

I don't think it can get any worse(I hope not). I've scratched a -$9k make up last year, and now I just cleared this one.

Plenty of days left this month, so I'm going to continue to put in the hours and try to hit 160 again. That 400nl feels is coming back to me again, but I am completely broke so I'll stay put at 200 for the time being. I can't put myself into another make up at the moment.

seems clear you prob just have some sort of mental hangup when playing the higher stakes (on top of also running a bit poorly there). the games while game selecting well just aren't different enough that you could be a big winner at 200nl and then a loser at 400nl. do you think being broke is making you sensitive to the swings of higher games and altering your play to be more passive or something? grinding 200nl backed will probably make it tough to ever save up a decent amount of money unless your monthly expenses are crazy low.

My stats at every stake are very similar to each other, so I don't think it's that.

Yeah, I need to get back playing on my money asap. I worked out some math with win rate, and it's going to take 5-6 months before I can think about playing on my own dime.

Thanks. That would be neat but probably won't happen unless I catch some serious heat. Or just put in double the volume I'm putting in now.

Are you really beating the games when you just play and win vs massive fish and bad regs? I have a lot of self doubt and sometimes I wonder if I'm truly a winning player. What would my win rate look like if I was put on a site with real competition like Stars? I'm positive any decent ROW player can beat Ignition 200nl easily for at least 10-12bb/100. I wouldn't even say 13-15bb/100 is impossible.

there's a pretty big gap between 200 and 400 on ignition imo, especially depending on the hours you play. 400-2k are have a lot of crossover, and 100-200 is kind of its own thing. 200nl in ignition is roughly equivalent to 50nl on stars or something from what ive seen from some guys.

the games are still really soft though, esp during peakish times and with a little work i think you'd be fine, no reason to get super down on yourself. i'm with broken though and think tons of those hands are spew

re: wr i haven't played any 200 in over a year, but back then (bovada w/ sportsbook and pre btc) 10bb+ was kind of the "good" std. games have gotten worse and rake is higher now so im not sure how to compare
