Hey all,

I know it's a bit early for a 2018 challenge thread, but I was just discussing the details over Thanksgiving dinner with Bfizz11 last night and decided to just post it now! It kind of fits anyway as this November was a practice month of sorts as I've already played >20,000 games so far and I'll be pumping out a lot of games this weekend and then next Tues-Thurs to close out the month!

I should say right off the bat that this challenge will only be a go as long Pokerstars doesn't change/dramatically alter anything with the SNG offerings that I play. I don't think this will be an issue, but you never know these days!

Most readers already know me and have followed along with past threads, but if not, here is the link to my 2017 thread which will give you a bit more info:
https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/1...-vpps-1660337/

The Challenge

The challenge is quite simple, I want to give it my absolute all in 2018. I know if I put in the volume, I end up printing EV. I did include an hours target as something could happen where the sort of volume I am aiming for just simply is not possible. I calculated that playing 300,000 games would be about 2500 hours of grinding, hence why they are both listed.

The following short list of bullets are some mini goals that will help power me through 2018
-Miss 0 Sundays:. This has always been an issue of mine; I 'punt' by missing ~6 Sundays each year which is just super lame as it's my highest personal EV day of the week
-Miss 0 COOP days: I did really well at this in 2017, I believe I missed only 1 COOP day. Again, there is no reason to miss any of these days. My personal EV is super high, sit there and work!
-Half day of off day on Mon/Fri only: These 2 days have the slowest traffic of the week during peak time. If I need time to sleep longer or have meetings or other commitments, everything needs to happen on these 2 days
-Never miss Friday Night: Games are simply amazing, it's a great time for me to mix in some more 25bb cash hyper turbos as I tend to not play below $200s very often. Can just play whatever goes off, everything is great!

Most of you already know I don't set monetary goals, especially given the super small sample of high stakes that I play will greatly influence my overall graph. Additionally, since I have different %'s of myself in different games, it makes it tough/inaccurate to just throw out a $ amount.

Besides my poker goals, I want to continue to focus on not drinking much alcohol, eating healthier and continuing to lose weight. Alcohol and eating a lot of meals out (and drinking there!) used to be my biggest problem; now have a couple of drinks about once per week on average. Even during the World Series I managed to only drink once. I impressed myself with that, watching sports+heavy drinking have always gone hand in hand with me.

Bfizz and I will likely do some friendly bets throughout the year, we both always like the extra motivation!

2017 Results

2017 was an excellent year at low to midstakes and once again not so great at the big boy games! Amazing how <5% of your overall volume can just **** all over a non filtered YTD graph!

It's kind of sad that there will (likely) never be nosebleed SNG action again, so that EV is just lost. But not much that can be done about it, just have to accept it and move on!

Before getting into 2017 results, I want to post this graph that I just searched today. As some may remember, I use November 1st, 2014 as a benchmark. This was the day that Spin&Go's were released on PS and it was the 'beginning of the end' for a lot of players. I have managed to survive and hopefully will continue to do so!

The RB % should be about correct given I got ~72% to end 2014, 65% in 2016, 45% in 2016, 2017 through >half of 2017 and then it just got crushed this summer obviously. If anything the number should be higher because $240+ traffic has been very nonexistent since about June 2016, which means more of the overall amount of total rake paid during this time period was paid during 2014-May 2016 when my RB was higher on average.

And now on to the 2017 Graphs

Overall Graph

$501+ stakes

The Truck

Funnily enough, I actually drove the truck today for the first time in 3 weeks! Ended up rolling over to Bfizz's stream/grind house in it and saw him on a sync break, was fun times.

But yea, today tested out the 4x4 today and it is functioning; just have to fix the hub on the left front tire. Was also checking to make sure the new suspension parts all were functioning. Truck felt a ton smoother on the road, not as bouncy and handled rough parts very well. Mechanic is almost done with the interior as well, ended up blacking it all out and it looks significantly better than the stock greyish color it came with.

By the end of the year it should basically be done and there are only a few more essential parts to be put on afterwards. Certainly looks significantly different than even at the start of my 2017 thread!

I actually do not have any current current pictures of it. It stands taller now and actually will probably end up being even a bit taller than it is right now. I went to take some today but it was super dirty, the main part of the mirrors were not on and had some other imperfections from it being in project mode. So these pics are from like Sept 2017, obviously new pics will come soon!

A few clips I got uploaded to Youtube, truck absolutely sounds like a jet on the highway!

I'll also be posting some on my personal FB account, so you can add me there if you'd like!

But yes, 2018 promises to be an exciting year. I know Bfizz and I are super stoked for Jan 1 to roll around, we will be giving absolutely 100% all of 2018. I hope everyone has a great holiday season to end 2017, and let's all make 2018 count...once it's here! [/QUOTE]

You are a man among boys Jdawg! 300,000 games in a year.....WTF! I am aiming to play 36,000 SNG's next year and thought that was a lot...

Can't wait to see how all of this plays out....if you have just a little bit of MTT luck you can have a 7-figure year! It's going to be a helluva year for Team Turbo Kings, we are lucky to have you on board brother!

Now we just have to get some Turbo Kings badges for our trucks and we'll be set!

Including what I've paid my mechanic, I'd say I'm into it for about $90,000 at this point. Luckily am almost almost almost done, with what is still needed and a few upgrades I already plan on adding in the future (I need a new radiator, stock one isn't sufficient for everything I'm running, general red grabber tires which are expensive AF but super sick and last forever, upgraded injectors to unlock higher stages for my juice with attitude programmer)

I can't afford Fite yet, but am working to that goal.. is there anything that is "cheaper" but still relevant in today's games?

Yep, that's what he meant, Brian 'Bfizz11' Fite!

Honestly I do not know much about what is out there in terms of SNG content. My best suggestion would be to check out some streamers. There's certainly a good amount of free information out there if you tune into some streams.

I wish I knew more about what was available; things have definitely shifted towards joining a stable to get better coaching in the past few years from what I have noticed

I have a few questions if you have a spare minute.
What site do you think is best to start out on sit n go's.
What would you advise for someone who is starting out on sng's and needs to improve on short stack play?
What bankroll management would you use and when to move up/down stakes etc?
What do you do these days for study and do you spend much time studying?
Do you have a warm up/warm down routine or get stuck straight in?
How do you not leave bad runs get to you and what would you advise someone who is weak minded and tilts over results.
Congrats again and keep up the good work!
Hey, I'll try to answer this as best as possible but I'm not the greatest at this sort of thing!

-Best site: Tough question, as I don't know the other sites very well. AFAIK, SNG traffic is pretty bad on most other sites outside of PS. Party poker can be an option, if you're US based at all, I'd say to check out Ignition. Past that, I'm not really up to date on what's going on

-Advice and study tool: Best thing is to just run lots of SNG sims with either HoldemResources Calculator or ICMizer. I used to study a ton, a few hours every single day. I actually barely do any these days; have probably spent 1 hour total studying since before WCOOP started Sept 3rd. But I am going to force myself some time soon, like literally next week, to do a lot of study at certain aspects of my game as I know areas I want to improve in

-BRM I'm not the best to offer advice. I always played staked and the times I owndimed/games I do play on my own dime, I have nearly unlimited money for. Only advice would be to gradually move up; like sniping good games at the next higher limit while continuing to mostly grind your normal buyin games

-Warmup/Cooldown: Nah, I'm not like one of those guys who has to do their little routine to have the capability of playing poker at a high level. I mostly just wake up, shower, make a protein shake and end up grinding within the next 30-45 mins after. Luckily I more or less rarely have anything to worry about, at all, outside of playing poker. My assistant has everything covered, I just grind and print EV!

Mental game tips: Again, not the best at this as mental game comes really easy to me. Just have to realize that tilt is always going to make you play worse/negatively affect you and there's just no reason for it. You should just be constantly attempting to make the best plays and continuously improving and that's the end of it!

Good to see Ruseman back on Stars and going well.
Belthazorrrr how has your year been regarding poker (up/down)?
Yea you would be correct, the reg to rec ratio in my games was truly ridiculous from 2014 until mid 2016. I'd literally once in a while have 20 SNGs up during COOP times and there'd be a combined 0 recs on them....just all professional players lol!

It depends on what game we're talking about nowadays. Since I'm mixing so many formats, it really just depends. $1000 25bb cash hyper for example; still is like 4 'top regs' per game a lot of the time, and a lot of the recs aren't even that bad. Then some of my hyper sats, especially at offpeak, will go off where I'm the only hyper sat pro in them

Ruseman back on the PS grind yep. Kind of been doing everything since the extra RB cut; was also back in the US for multiple months

Appreciate the rails and support from you always my friend, much <3

Maybe because truck>car>motor u know (if u crush)
Nothing personal bro, I am always trolling everyone about the size of their motor vehicles
Do u know that there is South Park episode about that kind of big trucks? If no, see it.

11-25-2017 , 09:33 PM
I'm not sure if I'm even able to comprehend what an insane number 300,000 SNGs in a year is. Like seriously, wtf @ 822 SNGS per day on average? When I last played SNGs nearly a decade ago I think I had a 3000-sng month and I thought I was the sickest boss grinder ever.

Much kudos and much love as always bro, also sorry for the drunken text the other night I got no recollection of that lol

Solid 2017, GL in 2018!
