This is pretty much like the title says. Back in 2015 I put 50 euros on Unibet and in my free time over the next two years I ran it up so I was playing in the highest SNGs and MTTs that ran on the site as well as their their 1euro/2euro 10 BB cash game - they call that format "Banzai". Net withdrawals so far are 8580 euros. However so far this year I have lost about 1K euros as the games got harder, and I have also withdrawn 1835 (that's already counted in the 8580) putting myself back down to some of the lowest stakes. Current bankroll is 191.86 euros. I've been "in the lab" and worked out some ideas about ICM, and am basically going to try them at the tables and fight my way back up to where I was before. A solid BR to play the top SNGS is about 4K (there are 50 euro and 100 euros SNGS but they don't run that often, so even at the top you're mostly playing the 25s and the 100 euros Sunday tournament is only once a week).

For those that don't know, Unibet SNGs have 3 minute levels, but you start with a 67BB stack and they are five handed, so in some ways they are like hypers and in other ways like turbos. They pay 2 people in a simple 2-1 ratio.

Alongside that I also hope to become overweight - at present I have an obese BMI (107 kg, 1.80cm) and my target weight is to get down to 90 kg (198 lbs) which is classed as merely overweight. Basically the strategy here is not to eat carbs except at breakfast time (and then only as before or at a reduced level - I used to have cereal and toast now I'm having cereal or toast). Have also tried butter coffee - it's possibly psychological but it does seem to push back the hunger thing. I'm not going to write too much about that but I'll report how it's going from time to time.

Alongside that I have to keep on top of my business teaching English as a foreign language.

Anyway starting points are:

BR: 4000 - Weight: 90 kg - Students... there isn't really a target, just want it to continue as a stable income. October is generally the time highest numbers are recorded so it won't be alarming if we have e.g. 50 in January or 18 next summer.

About your breakfast, I suggest you skip most carbs, eating only low GI. Try to eat as many protein foods as possible. My breakfast when I was overweight was 3 hard boiled eggs, some spinach, broccoli and red beans. If you´re like me (and a lot of people), you won´t eat much during the day (very low hunger) when eating that breakfast. Ofc do not eat a lot of fast carbs during the day (or just skip them entirely). Try this for one month, and see if you get nice results.

Oatmeal for breakfast and it's not even close. A bowl of oatmeal has ~150 calories and will keep you full for a long time. Lots of fiber and good carbs, protein and fat too. Oatmeal is cereal. Sugary cereals out of a cardboard box and with childish cartoon characters is garbage. Toast is terrible for you. Unless it's Ezekiel bread, bread is garbage inflammatory food.

Walk several miles a day in the morning and get as much sun as you can. Good luck.

Thanks for the talk about breakfast. I know about the cartoon characters as I have children and cartoon characters on packaging of things is basically code for "this is full of junk so don't feed it to your children." I was eating commercial packaged crunchy musli. My wife has made some oat-based homemade musli now which is probably better than that.

Yeah, I'm finding that cutting categories of carbs (now including bread) is easier. When you raise it to the level of a dietary requirement (as if you're a member of some 3rd world religion whose members can't eat certain things) then it's actually a lot easier than weighing out portions of carbs and stuff like that.

Where possible I try to just eat "normal food" left over for breakfast (e.g. Monday was sausage and lettuce). I think it makes sense to get out of the idea that breakfast is a special class of meal that arbitrarily has to have special types of food (e.g. people don't say chicken salad is a lunch food not a dinner food but they would say it's not a breakfast food).

Poker has picked up a bit. Up to 127.12 from a low of 102.

Hardly played poker in October (Unibet's pseudo rakeback thing gives it at roughly 23 euros raked) too busy, which makes this a strange PGC thread but not wanting to let it die like my health and fitness thread. The rollercoaster ride will start properly soon though.

Poker starting to take off though only another 20 euros raked in November. Up to 251 euros absolutely crushing when I get to sit down. Moved back up to 4 euro SNGs from 2 euro SNGs. I also played a bit live in a 1-1 game that has uncapped rake (the rake percentage isn't declared but is seems to be something like 5% rounded up). I've won so far but I think you need to basically sit and pay your 2 euros rake per orbit and wait to stack one of these fish with a premium, which isn't actually much of a fun way to play.

Students down to 65 as courses finish. Weight now 99.5 kilos so almost overweight now. Mostly cooking Chinese stir-fry style stuff without (or with very little) rice. I look and feel much better, getting a better vibe from women I talk to as well.

I was pretty busy before Christmas but I've been playing more since New Year and still heading upwards. When I get over 400 euros I will move back to the 10 euro SNGs. I was on 288.80 at new year and am up another 55 since then.

I had a pretty heavy Christmas in terms of alcohol and I also consumed plenty of carbs, but nothing like a typical Christmas. Overall I'm only up 1 kilo since a month ago - people who regularly weigh themselves tell me a typical Christmas would be more. Back on the wagon now.

Student registrations 54 as some of the courses are starting. Up on the same day last year but less than I'd like. The falloff relative to December (in December I was further up relative to last year) is mostly at my second branch - people are not returning for courses and it's difficult to see what's going on there.

So over the last week I've actually been playing some proper volume. I'd fallen below 200 euros in January and have finally got it back up to where I was a month ago. I feel over the last week I've got back into the groove a bit more and am making better decisions. I've also been studying spots where players limp when they have shove/fold stacks. I've been much too keen to shove over them and keep getting shown strong hands and so particularly the Banzai games are going better now.

Students down a couple of notches at 49, but I've put up prices by 20% so meh.

The main news though is that I am now at 97 kilos, which means my BMI is 29.93 and I am officially not obese! Still got a long way to go to my official target of 90 kg and even further if I want to get to the border of the healthy weight range at 81 kg. Have started eating oatmeal for breakfast from today. It was fine once I microwaved it with milk.

Well done, and good luck with the poker.

Perhaps an egg breakfast from time to time would be good as eggs seem to have most things a body needs to stay healthy. I am no dietitian so take this and the egg with a pinch of salt.

Absolutely smashing poker now, playing the 10 euro games and up to 723 euros.

I have been learning push fold charts based on my own ICM theory rather than using traditional ICM.

Other than that, I've been lunching too much with my wife and compromising to cook things she likes and also too much beer, so only lost 1 kilo in the last month. Some more healthy homemade cider should be online soon.

Up 1040 over the last 3 months (off an implied 200 raked). I have withdrawn 785 so now on 906 euros. Playing the 25 euro SNGs now.

Weight been stable for 4 months now. Started to be less strict and just eat the same trash family etc. are eating. Back on low carb stir fries starting Monday.

Why you think the HRC guy would provide you his best data? HRCs just cheeky anyway not that serious imo.

I was pretty pleased to see it too. I think because he wants to see if ICM can be improved on.

He also did a similar thing with the Ben Roberts algorithm a few years ago.

The same question could be applied to me - why would I share my algorithm?

Pretty big summer. My BR is in the same place now but I had to win and withdraw 2115 over the summer to maintain wife equity while I had few lessons to teach. Net all-time withdrawals from Unibet are now at 11500, so I've broken into 5 figures now.

Now teaching is back on, I should be able to save the money in the BR and play the highest tournaments. This weekend, as a lot of the stronger Unibet tournament players will have been at their live tournament, I took shots in the biggest tournaments despite not being properly rolled for them. I min-cashed in the 100 euro Supernova for 187, and missed out in a few others - I did win a 10 euro progressive bounty though, so taking the weekend as a whole, I'm level with where I was when I got my stats on Friday:

I got my stats for the year to date (up to Friday afternoon), here they are:

SNGs played 1041, rake 563.41, buy ins 11347 (avg 10.90), cashes 11955.86 profit 608.86 (ROI 5.37% 0.58 per tournament - 55.85 buy-ins up)
(buy ins are stated as already including rake).
Variance simulators say that if I was break even over 1041 SNGs with a flat buy-in of 11 euros then I would run like this or better 7% of the time - though from a Bayesian perspective the fact I'm up in all game types should probably be taken together.

MTTs played 415, rake 251.34, buy-ins 3200.21 (avg 7.72), cashes 4412.58, profit 1212.37 (37.88%)
(rebuys/add-on etc included in buy-ins)

Cash Hands 24130, Flops seen 5418, Buy-ins 17532.39, Cash out, 18749.75, Profit 1217.36 (ROI on buy-ins 6.94%, profit per 100 hands 5.05).

I had a fairly irresponsible summer related to weight and drinking - particularly when visiting family in England. This is now back at 99 kilos. So on a year-on-year basis I'm still well down from the start of the thread and I'm back on the low-carbs again this week.
