supsup, its louie from london, its a new year im nearly 19 the time has come to kill the competition..tears will be shed, ive started to take poker seriously now that ive got my life pretty much sorted short term im ready to start preparing long term.
Ill be using this forum frequently now and ill be using this thread as a personal blog disciplinary thread to monitor my progress in my poker and my life as young black(full of bishes and -Evs).
Im going to be playing both cash and sng's in the hopes of becoming a solid all round player and playing live.

ill be starting on micro stakes 0.01/0.02 for cash games undecided about sng's atm. Since im still learning my way around this forum and using the poker graphs and all that ill start my first challenge to post up a timetable to sort out my poker time and study time then ill post my first session up once im ready to roll so i should be ready to start killin em come new years.

so i ran a lil session started playing some 0.04+0.01 sng's on everest poker played around 10 or so with my $10 on the account, i played the normal 3places paid and realised i was losing my money slowly but surely due to my lack of knowledge sucks so i decided to switch to the double up games where half of the field gets paid so i can work on my early small blind play as im not too solid and work my way up

This session i actively took notes of what i felt i struggled on since i dont normally do that and i kinda realised alot here they are:

1.stop auto piloting, try to put oponent on a hand

i really dont think much when i play, i was taking a straightforward approach to most hands would usually be attempt to make a hand quick if it flopped try to get as much money as i can from it or try and get to the river as cheap as possible and make something clearly this isnt winning poker so i need to change that asap.

playing too many hands, pick more reasonable ranges


I was playing alot of hands basically taking every chance i could to see flops then go from there, if i got raised because i called from an early position and the hand i didnt feel it was worth it id just fold this didnt seem to work to well id lose chips pretty quick and i remember reading most professionals play between 20-30% of their hands im probably playing 50% i should check this somehow i got pokertracker but i have no ****ing idea what im doing with it lol

im such a scrubby fob sometimes a pair or so will flop after a no action preflop from all players and someone has clearly landed a three piece/4of a kind but i refuse to accept they have the goods when they put down a sizeable bet, everyone else folds obvs round to me so its just me and the agressor and i cant help but think they are bluffing or scaring me out of the pot with a somewhat weaker hand so i end up thinking loads then eventually hitting the call button then losing out. my intuition seems pretty good i just need to use it correctly when common sense cant direct me.

I seem to be playing the right cards at the wrong time and this is not good poker ill need to make extra effort to take note of my position pot odds etc most of which ive forgotten ill need to go and do some reading will help with my decision making at least.



when in a tight position know what to do when im playing with a weak hand

most of the time i have a decent hand pre flop so ill try to min raise to scare weaker hands out of the pot that could beat me like k4 q8 etc and it ends up becoming a bottom pair, like 88 77 in hand with j 5 k on the flop and someone betting on the flop showing theyve probably got a pair together and now im drawing dead, usually leads me to the dilemma of he may have a q something or ace something or k/j overpair..so do i put my cards down accept my moneys gone or do i push on and make him show the goods which if he fails i get ma cash murnehz soo what do, avoid playing smaller pairs?

this where im really losing my cash mannies mehn looking good preflop then looking dead after or trying to make something and missing then ive got alot of chips in the middle and not sure whether to press on or save what ive got left and not risk crashing out. The competition on everest shouldnt be too hard compared to other places so once i start getting a grip on this i should be seeing results quickly.

euuurgh what i hate the most some bad decisions and some unlucky ones etc pretty much end me in this position im not a solid player i can get scared out of pots with continuation bets etc when i have nothing this is where i become really concious of how much i have and pretty much let myself get killed by blinds and antes, essentially by the time big blinds are 100-120 if i dont have something sizeable infront of me im most likely going out and i blame this on my early play for the sng when the blinds are small. need to work out a proper strategy or imma be a broke *****.

this is no good leaves me sad faced working for a flush/straight and even when im one card off(nut draw right?) it wont come up and my opponent probably knows ive nearly got it or hes probs connected the J on the board and is making it expensive for me to see the next card.

i probs have At in hand etc ill call or min raise flop will come 2 3 10 im in pretty good shape id normally check the flop wait for the turn then start the action there but then K Q J kinda cards will hit the board on the turn and the river and im not looking so strong no more.. id probs check then chase him out on the river hopefully but they would lead into me with bets and im calling dead or gonna fold u_u its horrid.

what aces are reasonable to call with

at times im not sure if i should bother calling with a6- a9 i cant go for a straight pretty much just a two pair or a flush if its suited but usually it doesnt play out as such and i might get an ace on the flop or turn but have a horrible kicker when it comes to the showdown and lose yet another hand :/


everyone seems really tight and nitty but one of them catches me out basically when i try to play loose, when i switch to match them i got gobbled by the blinds

everyone just seems like really tight and occasional you'll get that one aggressive player stealing blinds for free and i can only sit back and watch as i dont feel confident with some of the hands i get to put money infront for them. eventually when i do one of the tight players will have a monster and take ma monayz..boo

those are my thoughts for the session feel better now ive got em down on paper(w/e) and can use it as a reference when im looking back, if anyones got anything to say or advice ill be happy to hear. ill post some of the hands i ran into and had some problems with or not so sure about, im not sure how to go about using the graphs and im not even fully sure its correct so ill leave them for now.

Had a sick new years got smashed with my boys and some chicks and started the year off good buuut i got other plans other plans poker related i wanna start so ill get into this quick,
soo ive been away a bit sorting myself out as i mentioned earlier, i went and found information on what i need to do to start playing and get a better sense of direction so im doing nice atm.

As far as my studying will go picked up quite a few different books harringtons etc im gonna read through em and then re read them and prepare a strategy so there wont be too much poker going on for me this month.

Pleasse explain your thought process

when i saw i got the pockiet rockets i decided to try and not scare anyone out of the pot hence why i was only min-betting and was hoping for someone to show a strong hand or steal the pot with a raise then i could kinda trap whoever attempts, the blinds were pretty small aswell so any all in wouldve ended me up with like 100 or so chips when everyone folds which i wasnt too happy with. quite a few people folded anyway so i decided when the flop comes ill decide if i go all in.
It came 10,10, 5 i then thought someone who called should have trips now with like KT,QT,JT , or even AT which i guessed was pretty unlikely since i was holding two aces and two tens were on the board. i became worried i was beat but it was strong enough to play through for the meantime. When i got bet on the flop i was thinking nina got the goods and was gonna take the pot but i raised as i wanted to give an indication that i still had a decent hand although or made something nice with the flop so i min raised just to see what the responses would be. everyone called and the turn came 10 and checked around to me which made me think everyone had a weak hand so i went in with the raise for 200 i decided i had the best hand now i had a full only thing that could beat me would be a stray 10 noone raised so i raised again and called round to the showdown.

Could i hear how you wouldve gone about playing the situation?, im new still so reading players etc is abit above my level so im happy to hear how better players would have done it.

First of all, when you play AA, vs Any two of 1 player it got 80% chance to win, vs 2 its 60% ish, cant really remember.
Raise 3x pre, you still get the same callers from SC, Ax, etc, and if anyone got a premium hand they will still raise, also since there is more in the pot they can also take a bluff at it.
And the flop i bet around 50-75% of the pot, and just keep doing that.

What would you have done if the flop came KQx 78x etc?
then you got 4 player or w/e it was that raelly like hit the flop and now you just dont know where you stand because they can have any cards.

should i raised 3x the pot or big blind? im not too familiar with all the terms what is SC?

okay got some updates for this thread its been a while, my poker path is quite interesting coming from my background, ill make a post giving a proper idea of who i am soonish.

Life-
So this is teh hardest game to master as of recent lol, trying to discipline myself to do what needs to be done has been difficult all year till pretty much this week i feel like im on the verge of getting in motion and doing something seriously.

For past 3-4 months been training as a jeweller so i get a different take on learning a trade and its pretty cool maybe one day i could design a world series poker bracelet or even make one but im working at it and doing alright going to start a workplacement soon. Was meant to start a workplacement coming up to a month ago which sucks so im behind on money i budgeted for which sucks balls but oh well im going to have to crawl back to my old crappy job or take to the streets or illegitimate hustles which id really like to avoid pshhht will see what happens from there. Going to do evening classes for some a levels i messed up during my last 2 years so im going to really be pushing myself come this september hope to god im ready

Was meant to get into gym and start lifting and getting myself in shape but ive put that on hold with the way its been snowing lately so im going to start(properly) pressups/situps at home and work on a diet somehow with money i got left over, single mum stress cant cater to a typical diet plan bleurgh ill make do. On the side note i ordered one of these



So i will be able to do routine workouts and look after myself properly ideally, i know most grinders arent the healthiest might aswell get in the habit from now.

more social note re-evaluating everyone i deal with, i thought the length of time you spend with someone would dictate how good of a friend they would be to you and i was pretty much proven wrong so im going to be looking at cutting alot of dead weight out of my life. Alot of guys and girls who just arent productive in the grand scheme of my plans should gtfo or be spectators pretty much i think, saves alot of stress and drama me thinks.

Gaming

As some may know i didnt come straight to poker i used to be a yugioh card player at a pretty high level and the converted to fighting games before picking up poker so im like the 2nd nananoko maybe but yeah im working my way up from the bottom here but its interesting how different skills pass around ill post about it more later.

So i decided once poker has calmed down a bit ill pick up the pokemon tcg because the prize support is pretty awesome and going to hawaii and getting university fees paid for is awesome so im planning something soon will keep updated.

Yugioh has fallen off for me the game is a wreck but then again when was it not a wreck lol afaik if you are decent at poker you should crush ygo so i should be gdlk when i return lol since ygo and pkmn are live and quite time consuming ill work on them theoretically at home when ive got spare time and deck test etc online then when i have roll to play live etc ill kick the plan into effect.

Im also i fighting game player/Tournament currently been playing Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and previously Super Streetfiighter 4 with limited success i could have got ahead of the learning curve in the previous edition but i slipped and i blame that on my fundamentals being lacklustre and not practicing simple stuff to fix im guessing it will be an interesting ceiling to break as it takes people a while on average but using poker and tcg skills to my advantage, looking to pick up King of fighters 13 and Soul calibur 5 but my timemanagement has been ass so far. Been trying to start a proper blog for it should be in my profile description so follow if your interested, for now though im going to be hidden in the lab studying theory/practicing for poker,tcgs and fgs so if you follow and have thoguht lemme hear your views!

Now to the poker!ofc the most important so im about 3 months into poker properly(6 if you count messing around) and im learning so much, just finished reading crushing the microstakes by Blackrain79 amazing book for beginners i do recommend it changed alot of misconceptions i had and brought my understanding to a level where i can stand on my feet without running to poker friends of mine asking every second what does this mean, or what should i do it was really straight forward. I slighty rushed through to absorb as much as possible ill be going over it for sure it was enjoyable to boot.

Started watching videos by splitsuit aswell although he is not for smallest microstakes limits the way he is making me think critically imo is the most important thing ive learnt its the same thing Blackrain79's book was trying to teach and when it all clicked in suddenly you look at everything different, so im going to try learn as much as possible on this high and more then put it to the test very soon once i sort out my br because its a shambles right now like 4 buyins spread across 6 sites which is terrible.

I went to play live at the vic in central with fellow 2+2er who just moved over here he welcomed me into live play and it didnt seem as scary as i expected it to be but everyone looked real serious(and so they should they are playing for cash murrrnehz) but within a few minutes of him sitting at the table some uber fish shiek was just spewing and it opened my eyes a little at how bad some people are, I know im not great but being able to spot these things in my background has proved invaluable, so once i get a considerable amount to gether ill get involved int eh 1/1 live games preferably when im working because it looks very profitable but redic high variance with how crazy people are.

Online my br is a mess waiting for $$£$££$£ to come into my pocket which im not spending then ill get to playing and putting volume in got a lot of money flowing out but next to none coming in which sucks ass but its all long term investments i guess heh. For the meantime ill be studying and looking to do a full database review of all my hands like 2k not too many so far and see what i can discern. Probs then discuss some with my lil study group who've really helped me out and go from there and get my profit up!!! atm it doesnt look good but its expected so i shall work on it.

i didnt understand bet sizing but these are easy spots showing why i lose so much value

wow been a few months alot has gone down since then havent played anywhere near as much poker as i like as exams, life had once again got me but its being worked on, my poker game has stepped up too will need to post graph's as soon as my hem is working hopefully.

Got a new marketing sales job so my poker time is going to be reduced plan on combating that by getting involved in zoom looks really good, so im going to gather some role together and shift it all into a ps account.

Recently had my first go at live poker which was an interesting experience i learnt slowly that boredom and distraction is an easy formula for tilt but i toughed it out was a small field about 2 tables and finished 3rd with a somewhat unlucky finish got all in with AQo vs KTs and JTo the KTs pulled through with a flush luckily i had the JTo covered so he crashed out putting me in the money.
Feeling more confident with my game and defo can be worked on so things are looking up and im seeing profits in my sessions too!

Gonna force myself to update regularly and make this thread epic peace out guys
