I was in Edmonton for a week and a half during Christmas... definitely not pleasant!

$100s have 7 regs and $200s have 8. Ew I don't even want to think about playing $100s+ given my 0 experience.

Got another 8 hours or so planned for today. I ate a bunch of healthy food yesterday, it was hard for me to eat at a bit of a deficit cuz I effing love food but I think it will be a good plan going forward. Gonna try and be efficient with my time and maybe even work out after for once in my life? I'm up to 230 which is as heavy as I've been, and I have a $500-$1k weight loss prop with my Dad to get ready for my wedding in April.

I'm pretty annoyed that my year dictates I grind a ton in January, if I had the time available in the middle months I'd just play zero for most of January. I definitely want to be finished in November, it was pretty gross watching guys lose their shirts on the final run this past December.

I am sure if you put your mind to it you can crush this. been along time since I played sngs but I assume games are reg heavy especially when your going for elite and have to play basically anything that runs.

Thanks bud. The guys going for 2x+ elite really don't have a choice I don't think, they just have to keep loading with eachother. There are some $60s that pop off that I know are profitable, but I do get in the odd game sort of hoping to have a breakeven return so I can pile vpp's.

Got in 8.2 hours today.



Games are bad, long days are hard, players at higher stakes are better at poker. Still on a flipping 1800 hour year pace. I'm really confused why the $30s are so reg filled. There can't be THAT many $30 players going for SNE, so if you're going for 200-300k vpp why are you even playing one of the most difficult times of the year? I keep accidentally playing in harder games than I think too. I use every colour tag to help me choose which games I reg, and I generally treat someone with no tag as a fish, but more and more tag-less guys keep showing up with stats that resemble someone with a clue and it sucks!! Basically, I miss my mommy.

I played a lot in Nov/Dec gearing up for this long month and I'm glad I did. I get worn out as hell by hour 7 and just want to bail on the day but every hour adds up. I ate good food again today, and I'm gonna head to the gym tonight, I figure that will pay off eventually.

Down about $2800 on the year in 2400 games, but have made about $2400 worth of 58% rb. I'm also down about 100 bi in EV at the $30s, my redline has me at 2% so I can't be playing that bad. I tend to have an early dip down every time I move up or switch stakes so this is pretty standard for me. I'm excited for the occasional heater to get some confidence going. I'll get my head cleared tonight and start working on a plan of adjustment so I can count on being a winner in these games.

Basically what michty said, he would always be chatting and having a good time, and was actually pretty good too. He would stay behind every game and aggressively cheer on whoever busted him. It got to the point where I think he may have been legitimately happy every time I took his stack he was so cheerful and pleasant. K bye let's have a craic.

Will probably just do a measly 7h today. Got up a bit late and could use a chill day. I had 1800 calories yesterday and it's making me lose my mind, my body is so pissed off. Last night was the first time I've been to the gym in probably a year. I think all my fat ate any muscles I may have had.

Thanks man. I don't play on any tour at the moment . Planning on playing 5-6 Vancouver Golf Tour events this summer ($80k prize pool/event). If the PGA Tour Canada qualifying tournament doesn't conflict with my wedding I'll play in that as well and hopefully get on for the season ($150k prize pool/event). My coach mentioned wanting me to do web.com qualifying school in the winter but I need to go from a +3 to about +6, which is probably the poker equivalent of going from breaking even at $30s to winning at $200s.

I didn't look at results all day, felt like I got punched in the stomach when I saw, I honestly thought things were going pretty good! I know things will end up going a lot worse for stretches, but I wouldn't mind a dollar here and there.

I've had my phone sitting in front of me while playing most of the time for the past few months so I finally ditched it today, it made a big difference. I was able to focus and pay attention to most of the things that were going on instead of just playing my hand. I also didn't look at my $ results until the end of the day which is going to help going forward.

I read posts from AWice and jdawg today (both awesome pg&c threads, check em out if you somehow are following this one and not those) and I felt like such a huge jackass for whining about the state of the $30s. Starting my 3rd set I just decided I'd get in any $60 that had at least one soft spot. I know it's going to be bigger swings but I finally got over 700 vpp/hr in a couple sets. Not only is it $75/hr in rakeback (@ 58%) which is huge for me but it clears the hours I need to focus on golf when I need to.

I don't know if this is typical for all poker players but I always feel a bit gross if I'm not at my peak earnings. I might have to get over that this year.

Don't forget to leave plenty time for review. I used to play 18s/45s/180s back in the day and tried a switch to hypers. Any little mistake was always amplified so having a frequent sanity check is sensible.

Lmk if you figure out how to get over that
