How'd it go OP? I've heard great things about the Hammond cash games.

01/19/15

Sat down in cash after busting my first two bullets. Got off to a great start and was up to about $500 in two hours. Got into a spot where I pulled off a $100 bluff, and unfortunately that didn't go too well. I also had quite a lot of oesd and fd that I had never hit that entire session. So within 6 hours I was in for $500 and ended up cashing out for about $210. I have some hands I wanted to discuss as well. About to play some cash and tournaments on Bovada, so I'll post up those hands later.

Current live bankroll: $4700

For the trip: -$530

As promised here are a few interesting hands that I played from both tournaments and cash games while I was at Hammond.

Hand 1:

This was during my first buy in. The starting stack was 10k, at this point in the hand I was down to 5.4k. Blinds are at 100/200 with a 25 ante. 10 handed.

I am in the HJ. Player directly to my right with 8k behind min-raises to 400. I look down at JJ, I 3-bet to 1100 (with the intention of calling a shove, and I 3 bet because I don't want the blinds to come along). Player to my left (villain with 12k behind) calls, everyone else folds. Villain is in is 40s he hasn't been very active much, but one hand I did see him play was where someone bet the river on a JJ864 board another player called, and V called behind with A7 (he called with ace high even though there was a player before him that called the bet) So its HU to the flop.

Flop (3150): A29

I hate to see the ace peel off. When V cold calls my 3 bet I put him on strong aces (AK/AQ/AJ) high suited broadway cards, as well as medium pocket pairs 66,77,88,99,TT. I check, V checks back. At this point, I'm still not sure what V has, there is still a chance that V checks back an ace here, but since there was no bet on the flop I still don't really have any information.

Turn (3150): K

Terrible card, now I'm behind hands like KQ, KJ, and KT. My plan on the turn was to check/call any reasonable bet. (Was this bad given my stack size?). I check, V bets out 1100, which is 1/3 of the pot. Should I be folding in this spot? I end up calling.

River (5350): J

What do I do here?

Spoiler:
I shove, V snap calls, turns over KK

Hand 2:

This is a hand I played during my second buy in. I think I played this hand poorly, and thoughts on every street are appreicated.

I am in the bb. I have about 15.6k. Blinds are at 100/200 no antes. I was an alternate so I joined this tournament a bit late and so this is about my 13th hand in the table. My reads on V is that he is a bit aggressive. Since I've sat down I've seen him 3 bet twice, and raise pf a few times but has not shown down any hands so far.

V is in the HJ (starts the hand with around 26k table chip leader), he raises to 500, button calls, sb calls, I look down at J7. I call getting good odds, needing to call 300 to win 1600.

Flop (2000): 737

Great flop for me as I flop trips, my plan is to either c/c or c/r depending on how many players call if V decides to cbet. So as expected V cbets 800, which is towards the smalller side, everyone else folds to me and I decide to just call.

Turn (3600): T

At this point, I'm almost certain V doesn't have much of a hand. I check turn, and depending on his bet sizing on the turn I was going to check raise. V checks behind.

River (3600) Q

So no draws got there on the river. I feel like Q may have possibly hit V's hand, so again depending on his bet sizing I was gonna check raise. I check, V bets out 2300, which is more than half pot. I feel like I am losing value here by just calling (thoughts?), so I raise to 5000, V tanks for about 30 seconds then announces a raise to 11000 (he has 13k behind), I...?

Spoiler:
Is this a spot where I can fold? A lot of draws missed, and I am not sure what V is checking the turn and then reraising me on the river. I hate calling here because I only leave my self less than 5k behind. I end up shoving, V snap calls QQ I think any other card besides the Q, V is going to call a check raise from me (possibly will fold to an A or K on the river). Sick river card, but I think this is a spot where I should have just called V's river bet, because even Qx may fold to a check raise sometimes, and I put V on air rather than a made hand.

Cash games hands ($1/$2):

Hand #3:

This is about 2 hours into the table, my image is TAG, a bit more on the nitty side due to being card dead. I start the hand with $450.

Folds to MP (starts hand with $220, he has been frequently making small $6 raises pre-flop, and they have been getting a lot of callers (around 5-6 each time). MP raises to $6, I look down at KK in the HJ I 3 bet to $21, CO calls, button calls, sb calls, bb calls , MP calls. 6 ways to the flop . I cover everyone at the table. MP has the second biggest stack. All the other callers behind in this hand have between $150-$200.

Flop: ($126): QT9

Do I even c bet here into 5 opponents? I decide to c bet $50, with the intention of folding to a c/r shove (thoughts)? Co calls, button calls, sb calls.

Turn: ($326): 8

Worst turn card ever. I'm 100% sure one of the players called my flop bet with Jx, I check, Co shoves, sb shoves, I fold...

Spoiler:
Co turns over KQ, sb turns over J9o. river is a 2, sb scoops the pot.

Hand #4:

This hand happens about a couple orbits after the previous hand. I start the hand with $370. Utg straddles to $5, MP (same mp as from the hand before) puts in $8 (doesn't realize there is a straddle, but he wanted to raise, he takes back $3 wanting to call instead, but the dealer tells him he has to min raise, and raises to $10. Folds to me in the HJ, I have JJ I 3 bet to $25, utg straddler calls mp folds. The utg straddler (V) is a loose player, tends to call quite a lot pre-flop, I do put him on a marginal/decent hand since he cold called my 3 bet. Possibly medium pocket pairs or suited broadway cards.

Flop ($63): K28

I hate seeing that K peel off, but I still think I can get value from worse hands and there are also diamonds out there as well. V checks, I c-bet $30 V calls. Once V calls my flop bet, I usually think hes calling me here with Kx, some type of diamond draw, and even some medium pocket pairs can call.

Turn: ($123): K

V checks, I check behind. The K isn't a good card, but it isn't a bad card either since it is now less likely that V has a K.

River: ($123): 4

Big brick river, V checks, I...? Do I check behind here or can I value bet here, and possibly get called by smaller pocket pairs or possibly 8x hands?

Spoiler:
I check behind, V turns over TT. Dang it, V definitely would have called a bet from me on the river, so I missed out on some value...

Thoughts are appreciated on all these hands. I do know a couple of these hands I put myself into these situations thoughts/criticisms on all three streets are appreciated. It was a lot to type out so if I missed any important information please let me know.

Hey guys haven't updated in a few days, I've been sick/busy with person stuff. Today I will be going to caesars Windsor to play the $400 (CAD) bounty tournament featuring Chris Moneymaker. I've only been to Caesars once before to play cash, and I wasn't all that impressed (as only 2 tables were running) but my friends convinced me to go. Hopefully this tournament goes a lot better than Hammond. Also, my rooommate finally decided to play online poker so he deposited $50, and I got the $100 refer-a-friend bonus. I helped him last night play a few $1.10 Sit-n-gos, played 3 busted 1 and finished runner up in the other 2. So with that $100 bonus, I'm at $367.21, and once I hit $375 I plan to take shots at 25 nl. Won't be able to update during the tournament since I'll be in Canada (I dont think Caesars Windsor has Wifi) but once I get back I'll update.

Current live bankroll: $4600
Current online bankroll :$367.21

Long time no update, I unfortunately had a sinus infection and didn't get to play much. I played a bit online, actually right after I got the $100 bonus, I ended up losing 5 buy-ins, but scratched my way back up to losing only 2. I finally decided to retire my old laptop which I've had for almost 5 years now, and I finally got a brand new laptop! I also got this new tablet that runs full Windows 8.1 and is 1/4 of the price of a surface pro. Yesterday I went over to casino with a friend and played a monthly tournament they had there. The buy-in was $180 and was capped at 180 players. Great news! I ended up chopping that tournament 4 ways for about $5K per person. This is my highest tournament pay out to date (almost halfway towards my bankroll goal). Was very excited about it as I essentially doubled my bankroll and am in good shape for be able to play several events in the upcoming Hollywood Poker Open. The first event will be this Friday (2/6), its a $300 event with a $75K GTD prizepool. Excited to play in this series will update more frequently in the upcoming weeks.

Current live bankroll: $9520
Current online bankroll: $350.06
