HUSNG Turbos - Building My Bankroll

What's up everyone? My name's Mike and I'm 22 years old.

I've been playing online poker since I was 18. I started by depositing $200 on FTP. As I was a dumbass at the time, I assumed I was going to easily make a ****load of money. I had read Super System 2, how could I not?

Very quickly I lost the $200 playing microstakes 6-max SNGs. I quickly reloaded another 200 and saw it dwindle down to 50. I became quite discouraged, and decided to quit playing.

A year later, I decided to take another shot at poker, this time with a better attitude. I studied and played obsessively, and eventually ran my $50 bankroll to over 1K. At the time I was playing a combination of 6-max SNGs, HUSNGs and MTTs. That is when black friday happened, and I lost my whole bankroll. This was devastating to me. I thought I'd never be able to play online again.

When PokerStars came back, I started an account, loaded $200, and began grinding the micros again. Eventually I built my bankroll to 1K again. I began exclusively playing MTTs. It was at that point I went on the biggest downswing I'd ever had. I lost about $400 playing MTTs under $10. I had never experienced a long downswing like that before, and during it I started to tilt, spew, and chase.

However, all it took was one decent sized win to start a MASSIVE heater. In a couple of weeks, I ran my bankroll from about $600 to $1500. Soon after, PokerStars bought FTP, and I got my original bankroll back. I was feeling great about my play, however, I had another epic downswing. It was at this point that I realized that I couldn't handle the variance playing MTTs. If I wasn't able to see results for weeks or even months at a time, it would make me tilt and play like ****.

I decided that I was going to exclusively grind HUSNGs. I found that I could focus significantly better playing them, since I had to constantly make decisions. Most importantly, the downswings are manageable.

Being the bankroll management nit that I am, I started out playing the 7$ Turbos. I crushed them for about 600 games to the tune of a 58% winrate. During October 2012, I decided to move up to the 15$ Turbos. Here is my graph since I moved up.

Though that is a fairly small sample size, I think it is enough evidence that I'm ready to move up to the 30s. I feel like I have improved significantly since I started focusing on HUSNGs. I have also become desensitized to bad beats and downswings to the point that I don't tilt anymore.

~My Goals for 2013~

- Move up to the 60s
- Double my bankroll to over 6K
- Maintain an ROI above 10% at the 30s
- Increase my volume to over 300 games/month
- Experiment with playing more tables
- Eat healthier

~My Turbo HUSNG Results~

January 2013: (15$) 110-72, 182 GP, 60.4% WR, avg profit $2.39, +$435.80 net

February 2013: (15$) 52-33, 85 GP, 61.2% WR, avg profit $2.61, +$221.56 net

I will post my progress here from time to time. Any questions or comments would be appreciated

Re: HUSNG Turbos - Building My Bankroll

After playing just 14 HUSNGs (and losing 9 of them) at the 30$ Turbo level, I decided that I don't feel quite comfortable enough yet to play them.

So I've gone back to playing the 15s for now. Overall, since my last update, I've won 14 and lost 23. Not a big deal, just a small downswing.

Hopefully I can find the time to put in more volume soon...

That's not a downswing, but a normal play. i have 60BI downswing with huge edge over the field. There will be time when you will lose almost all 80% and every gutshots of opponets will come, and when you finaly got KK and op just openshove he will have AA. Poker is brutal and that's not a downswing. Better learn it now
