In Hong Kong for the next 2 weeks. Trying to get back on stars but they're taking forever to respond... Oh well, just gonna keep grinding some other sites. Ignition finally let me download my hand histories without causing errors. Still missing a bunch. Running pretty good as of late.

Stars verified me and I've been in the 200z mix. Mostly gonna play 200z and maybe some 100z when I feel like pools are bad but so far looks like the pools are pretty good.

Haven't completely mathed out this spot. Kinda depends on what villain is shoving flop. Would mostly think it's a hand like JJ or two overs + FD or even just naked NFD. Got a pair gotta call though.

Puts me on the flush draw probably. Still think it's probably a rather marginal call. Guess he doesn't have too much Ax in this spot so maybe has to call some Jx.

Pretty grateful to be running above EV while starting out this sample. Feel like there's a bunch of spots that I need to study/work on that weren't really apparent when playing on the softer sites. 200z is definitely sharpening up my game a bit.

So was travelling around during december and now I’m back in Aus. Spent a lot of time studying and learning about cryptos and trading, more so than poker. Now I’m around 7x my original port and deciding what to do. Done with university now so I have quite a lot of time on my hands and I have a few options to consider. Most likely for now I will continue to play poker, coach for cashgames and potentially starting to create some content on crypto. Haven't decided if I want to go to Aussie Millions yet but definitely considering it.

So decided against going to Aussie Millions. Main reason for this was that i really wanted to give myself more time to map out the year, set goals and get my health + sleep pattern in order. Playing the series would've required me to sell action and manage a lot of logistical stuff that I decided wouldn't be worth it. Ultimately this will be much better for me as I will have developed a routine for the year much earlier. Ofc missing out on some bink EV but there'll be other tourney series later in the year and I will be way more comfortably rolled for.

Aussie millions would definitely have messed with that. Been studying crypto a lot and the plan is to basically grind online, occasionally live and invest as well as trade crypto with something like 1/3 of poker winnings.

Basically limiting the time I'm playing for now so that I can build consistency in my routine before I tackle a longer grind schedule. So this means starting out with a 2x90min grind + 1hr study each day which may eventually become 3x90min. Setting the volume goal based on time so far has been very helpful in getting me outside of the results oriented mentality that I had before. For now, 200nl will be my main game. Planning to move up eventually.

I'll leave this post with a graph. These are my results so far after getting back to Aus.

Past week has been meh. Ignition software being aids as usual and pretty ****ty card distribution and losing the flips. Regardless, games are really good. Key thing is that I've started settling into a routine that is working out pretty well. Basically start off the day with a some Wim Hof exercises + meditation and then proceed to grind.

Focusing mainly on just following my systems for doing things while trying to optimise them more which has helped me become a lot less results oriented. I think mental game will continue to be one of my larger focuses as I think developing consistency has helped me save a lot of buy-ins. I'd say the key things that have helped with my win rate a lot are scheduled breaks. Just focusing on doing the right things and putting in the volume.

Catching up with the EV line at last! Ev bb/100 atm is 7.7 and actual is 5.3 which while I am happy with, I feel like has I could be doing way better. There's a lot of mental game stuff to this. I can really feel the quality of my sessions shift at different points throughout this sample. There was a nice phase at the start where I felt like I was just playing really well every session.
A lot of it was likely variance though with many bluffs getting through and getting paid with my value hands.
The middle of the sample had a bit of a tilty feeling. On one hand, I was clearly running terribly, constantly getting raised when cbetting, bluffing, etc.
On the other hand there is clearly this frustration that occurs. Even if you've developed enough strategy to be more consistent in your implementation, there is an emotional distraction that lowers your focus and discipline. It's something tough to work through and the way I coped with it has been to spend much more time warming up before I start playing, keeping my sessions shorter and developing more awareness around when I start to feel distracted or not playing well.

Been a while since I updated on here. I've actually switched to blogging on the raiseyouredge forum more than this thread. https://raiseyouredge.com/forums/topic/finding-balance

Nonetheless, still been playing, as well as spending lots of time on self growth. Managed to finish reading several books the past month and spent quite a lot of time thinking about how I want to proceed moving forward.

Started creating some poker related content on youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIz...vjtPDmZpPFYNMw

Also have started streaming some cash games on twitch here: https://www.twitch.tv/neuron_poker

I'm actually in a pretty similar situation to you - currently a 21yo student from Melb finishing final year uni, also playing 200z on ignition. I've also checked out your youtube vids, have a lot of respect for your play and approach to the game

Glad to hear that you're enjoying my content!

Been a while since last update. I've been getting a lot of people asking for my 200 zone results so here they are... Right now sitting at 10.4 EV bb/100 which I happy with but I think could be improved still. My game has gotten a lot better over the more recent hands and I think a lot of that is mostly mental game and discipline.

You can see more initial volatility in my graph which was a combination of running under EV as well as not playing as well throughout that downswing... The improvement has definitely been a result of constantly spending time meditating and becoming more self aware

Month's over now. Been consistently streaming on twitch which in some ways has probably affected my concentration a little during sessions, but I've also found some benefits in terms of accountability, explaining some of my thought processes and also just having people watch me play puts me in a different state than usual.

Nonetheless the month went alright. I definitely went overboard with the streaming side of things and realise that I need to give myself some more personal time i.e. grinding off stream. Basically at a point where I'm shot taking some 500nl and should soon be able to mix that stake in as part of my regular grind. Had a nice run above EV this month but my red line took quite the dive mainly from ending up in a ridiculous amount of spots where I've had to bet/fold.

Looking forward to the grind heading into the next month!

Been really taking advantage of the zoom/zone format lately and going back to my roots. Back when I first started to play poker seriously, playing 6max hyper SNGs, I would basically play in sets that lasted around 30mins at a time. Afterwards, I would do some intense review, looking at many of the hands I had marked in tools like ICMizer. This kinda stopped when I switched to MTTs and came back again when I started playing zoom cash formats. Haven't been doing this since the Australia ban where I ended up playing a bunch of reg tables before switching back to ignition zone poker.*

But here we are again. Taking a break every 30mins seems kinda excessive but I tried it out today. Usually I'm streaming and playing for 3hrs with a rather short break in the middle of the session. I noticed a significant difference in terms of my focus and just in general how I felt about these short sessions that I played today. While I feel I've adapted to longer sessions from playing MTTs, there was always a 5 min break every hour for those. It's interested to go full circle it's likely that I'll continue to implement this into my off stream grind as well as my stream to some extent (probably a break every hour). A long with working on improving my energy levels, I think adding more breaks into my sessions will let me stay consistently more focused and in a better mental state for poker.

Update since it’s been a while. Grinding quite a bit lately. Had some good results on some of the app games that I’ve played in but ignition has been going slow. Just been consistently running under EV. Last month I worked on my game a lot through this breakeven stretch. Been playing a mix of 500nl and 200nl. Feeling very good about where I am in terms of my play right now. Last month was somewhat of an integration phase in terms of me making a bunch of mistakes due to still learning to execute and add new things into my game. Played some live MTTs as well during the sydney champs series but nothing really came of it.

Integrating new things that you learn into your game is something that I find affects my play. You do a bunch of study with solvers and then initially you try to execute things. Regression in your game occurs since you are spending more mental energy in your session when you attempt to implement what you’ve studied. This can cause a bunch of mistakes to occur in your play that can make your winrate temporarily worse. But once you’ve started to get the hang of things, it becomes more effortless again and that mental energy is freed up. I think the main mistake that I’ve been making during these types of periods is to try to force things too much in terms of over applying certain concepts. That said, having gotten past this phase, I feel that my game is in a very good place at the moment.

Been a while since I've updated this blog since I've only been posting to my RYE one. Thought I'd give a run down of what's happened over the end of the year and where I'm at now. If you've read the other blog then you'll probably already know a lot of the details.

Went to Vienna in November for a RaiseYourEdge community meet up. It was a short trip but I had a blast and I'm really looking forward to the next one. Met a lot of awesome people and discussed poker, life, ambitions and goals and learnt a lot about other people's life experiences.

Played the WSOP Sydney events. This was a very enjoyable time as well. I had a friend come over from Thailand and I gained a lot of perspective throughout this time. Even though we're poker players, we ended up spending most of our time talking about everyday life experiences and doing a bunch of different activities. So while my initial plan was to just fire every tourney, it didn't necessarily end up that way. Did manage to get one deep run, coming 11th in the 6 max at least so that was nice.

So just relaxed throughout Christmas and the end of the year and now we're back on the grind. Played the Weekly Wednesday last week and came 3rd for $5.7k, mainly playing it as a warm-up pre Aussie Millions to settle back into live poker after the WSOP series.

So now I'm currently in Melbourne for Aussie Millions! Just flew in 2 days ago quite excited for the series. Busted the accumulator close to end of day 1, but got the bounty tourney tomorrow and then a busy schedule the next few days. It's my first time here in like 10 years so basically just trying to figure out good things to do in between tourneys.

In terms of what this year looks like it'll probably consist of playing more live tourneys, travelling around and getting out of the house a bit more and less streaming. I'll probably end up doing 1-2 times/week whenever I'm back home.

I'd post a bigger graph but I'm on a new laptop and only have hands from this week. Running quite well atm!
