I've been occupied with non poker things, and had someone visit from overseas, so not played any poker for a week. This afternoon I found a chance to put in a session and did a stream though. Let's see some hands, this time we'll start with some winning ones:

Just a standard flip spot, but very nice to win it.

Alas these two were the only >50bb wins I had in my entire 500 hand session.

For the losing ones, let's start with this funny one:

The callers behind were both 400bbs (300 effective) with me, so this had the potential to go real bad, but fortunately we get some dead money... and get flopped dead.

CO shows T 5 9 9 (Three of a Kind, Nines)

This hand I am a bit embarrassed to show, and definitely my worst played hand this session, but, you know, sometimes you play bad, and that's okay.

Turn is real iffy, but opponent was 50/40 over 25 hands, and especially when he does show up with that hand, I think turn is... defensible. River though is just giving free money. Preflop stats or fishiness doesn't even make our bet better since it means they would be betting turn with more hands that have a bluff catcher by the river, and you know fish love to call. Pretty annoyed about that one.

On to some hands that I'm less embarrassed about:

PokerStars - $2 PL Hi FAST (6 max) - Omaha Hi - 6 players

Hero (BTN): 100 BB
SB: 88.62 BB
BB: 180.29 BB
UTG: 144.18 BB
MP: 100.5 BB
CO: 240.2 BB

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has 5 J A A

fold, MP raises to 3.5 BB, fold, Hero raises to 12 BB, SB calls 11.5 BB, fold, MP calls 8.5 BB

Flop: (37 BB, 3 players) 6 T Q
SB checks, MP checks, Hero checks

Turn: (37 BB, 3 players) 6
SB bets 18 BB, fold, Hero raises to 88 BB and is all-in, SB calls 58.62 BB and is all-in

River: (190.24 BB, 2 players) 6

Spoiler:
SB shows 4 T 6 T (Four of a Kind, Sixes)
(Pre 36%, Flop 78%, Turn 95%)
Hero shows 5 J A A (Full House, Sixes full of Aces)
(Pre 64%, Flop 22%, Turn 5%)
SB wins 188.87 BB

This one seems fairly standard. With the Ah flop is a good check back, and on the turn, vs an sb cold caller who's likely fishy, my opponent isn't going to have a lot of TT or QQ, nor 66, but could have lots of middling wrap type hands, but it's hard to really say, and considering that he's likely a fish, he could be leading hands that doesn't make a ton of sense to lead either, and we can deny equity or get most value by raising here, whereas I think we don't really gain much by calling river. We're also low enough SPR that we're not saving much money pot controlling with a flat.

Whatcha gonna do?

Despite running good at the start, I am now down money and EV (about 1k) since streaming, which is annoying to say the least. It's a small sample though, and I'm getting the hand of the hotkeys (switching windows for stream) and talking and playing at the same time, and also starting to put more work in again, so I imagine I'll start doing better.

Not sure if it's worth it posting so many hands, maybe I'll tone it down and post only interesting ones instead of just the big pots, let me know if anyone has thoughts on that.

Have a good day~

This one seems fairly standard. With the Ah flop is a good check back,
I think I am over using my naked Ace high flush draw blocker in these situations. If this were a single raised pot, would you cbet the flop with your blocker? As played, if the turn were a heart completing your blocker flush, would you take a stab? What sizing would be good in that case? Thanks for updating your thread!

^ you block some of your opponent's calling range but I don't think you can fully utilize the blocker if you cbet flop here, because your SPR going into the turn will be less than 1 and at that point people aren't going to be folding their turned/rivered flushes. Whereas if you check back you can profitable double barrel turn/river with some range of blockers/NF on hearts

Yeah, the nut blocker generally makes you more keen to bet, especially if you can bet/fold but this is a stack size where you're not bet/folding. That said, hour hand is still reasonably strong so I think betting could be a fine play. I don't have enough multiway sims run to say. That said I'm generally trying to check back medium strength hands more and I think this one applies.

Having NFB does give us some options checking back, though it's not huge either way really. We're not folding out flushes much, and it only really matters a little if we turn Kh or something and consider a hero.

I'd just come back (well, a few days ago) from my trip from Amsterdam meeting up with some guys from discord. It was nice! I was pleased to announce that they were basically the same in person as they were online. To be honest, I haven't met too many I knew from online who turned out super different in real life.

The start of the trip was awful. I missed my flight because I forgot my passport because I am an incompetent human being, almost gave up and went home, but when I did I was convinced to book the next flight, so I went all the way back to the airport, only to find that I had booked a flight from a different airport. I swear I was about to break down and cry, but I was pot committed, so I booked a third flight that was 8 hours later than my initial one, napped in the airport (I went to the airport after an all night session so I had no sleep), managed to not oversleep, and successfully ended up in Amsterdam.

The guys met up with me and we went straight for sushi, which was a multi course buffet/all you can eat affair, and it was decent but seriously, sushi isn't exactly a type of food where more is better (despite with Brudi might think).

We went then to Holland Casino to grind. I almost didn't because I was so tired, but Monty and the rest convinced me. To his benefit of course, as he managed to win a couple of pots off me. The game was good though. The table wasn't particularly talkative and fun and I think everyone was a bit tired (and we were far away on the table so we didn't get to chat random sh t). I got 600 euros out from my Revolut card from the ATM because that's the limit for free withdrawals and I didn't feel like paying 2% when I am so tired, got stacked by monty, and then withdrew again twice for like 2.6k, lost a pot to Monty again, and ended up with 1.4k in the end.

Overall it was nice to meet up, but with how the day started and ended I had resigned myself to a failure of a trip, and to be honest wasn't much in the mood for playing poker anyway.

The next morning we went boxing. Filip/HorseOfHell came in this outfit to flex on us. later showed us some sick motorcycle tricks: https://www.instagram.com/p/BvtSVyOB..._web_copy_link

Boxing was nice. I usually kickbox which is quite a bit less strenuous on the boxing part, and also has somewhat different technique, but this was useful too.

We went to get ramen lunch. The first option was full, so filip brought us to... f cking wagamama, wtf. The server was exceedingly rude too, and that's ignoring the fact that they don't even have or understand noodle firmness can be an option. They brought out a different dish than Monty had wanted to order, and when Monty said "this isn't what I ordered" he just said "no it is. you ordered donburi", and when Monty was just kinda taken aback and was like "uh no I meant to order xyz", the guy was just insisting "no you ordered donburi, I wrote it down.

Like I highly doubt anyone on the table would've asked him to take it back, both out of not wanting to be rude, getting him in trouble, or for time reasons, but the least he could do is not to basically tell the customer "f u, you're wrong", so that's kinda funny.

We went to a cafe later and got some free food from Filip's cafe friend. Filip talks about virginlyfe but clearly is more than adept as using his youthful charms.

We then went back to the casino. I was feeling better actually that day, so when Monty and I started off a nice short handed table with some pretty recreational players and I doubled up early I was feeling reasonable good about my chances. Of course it only took like an hour before Monty stacked me and I'm down to my last bullet and a half.

Of course poker being poker, it only took an hour to get to this point from 500 euros:

The highlight of this run was me 4betting AA with only .2 SPR left behind and my opponent flopping a set of jacks on QJ7ddx

Unlucky sir.

Obviously everyone demanded I treat dinner, and being my mother's child, I obliged. Imba being a hard grinder (read:antisocial) didn't join. Sorry gotta call you out on that.

We went to this nice Vietnamese restaurant, and was going to get pho but decided to go for this set menu instead. It was like 50 euros for 2, so hey 75 for 3 why not. Of course, as the food keeps coming and coming I was like, okay there's no way this isn't a 50/pp meal I got talked into paying.

It was very lowlight so pictures didn't come out good, so I won't post all of them. It was way more worth it than that stupid wagamama bs in any case. Anyway Filip redeemed himself as host even if it did cost me 150 euros.

After that we went back to the casino and played for a little more. I had to leave for the airport at like 4AM though and daylight saving came out of nowhere and I had barely any time. I lost a tiny bit back but got to see Filip get tilted as all hell, which was funny (he did get slightly de-tilted after winning a pot from a whale). Didn't get a chance to play with Imba and see him apparently get stacked by Filip many times in a row, but alas, next time.

Oh yeah, final fit pick from Filip, need to post this on reddit MFA:

I got home in one piece somehow and thus concluded my trip.

Last few days since then had been very hectic with life stuff, but it's under control. Played some live poker and went fairly well, but as usual this year, sold a bunch of action when the game was bigger, and not as hot when I have 100%, sooo I guess that's how it is.

Sweet graph still though:

Online graph is... not as good. Only played one session since, but um... not great. My overall evbb is still decent/winning but pretty sad I'm not an 8bb/100 winner anymore. Unsurprisingly my EV basically took a nose dive since streaming; Lost 5k in EV exactly when I started. It's really quite hard to play well streaming. I don't know if I should practice playing low stakes more before I try again, that might be a good idea.

I shall post up some hands from the previous session soon. Until then!

Speaking of coffee I was very tempted to get a nespresso machine because I am so lazy but actually secretly quite like espressos. I am not as hardcore as Nando. something something unethical consumption and money something so I won't though I guess.

Biggest hand here. We got the machine to look at it, and turns out turn is a fold! As played river is a fold too. Pot size is a big size on A high 3bet pots it seems.

As played, I don't hate myself for calling, but it's both GTO to fold and people probably underbluff, and though at the time I was thinking I had a 9 blocker and was top of my range, it seems the solver doesn't really care and just rips most AA, so it doesn't really matter, and since we should fold JJ on turn anyway we're actually not that high up in range. We should just flat AA pre some (lolk) and call with AJ. Oh well, if I didn't lose this pot I'd have broken even. Poker is hard.

I think BB cc ranges really miss this board, so barrelling turn is okay, as even some of my lighter hands are like AJT5 and such. On the river I tanked a river, and ultimately decided that I'd just be way overbluffing and this is not a spot to do it since I didn't think people overpeeled earlier streets enough and just, well, a club really would help here. Guessing it was a good fold as he bet.

Nando defs knows his coffee stuff. It's up to you but I would never get nespresso machines or similar, mind you I'm a barista so I'm pretty fussy.

There defs plenty of coffees you can make that don't need all that much knowledge/money; cold brew/cold drip, V60 pourover. Depends on how much you care about taste etc tho

I mean they cost about the same really, and the capsule machines are just a lot more convenient. tbh I already have a coffee machine so I guess I'll just use that.

I'm not really that picky with coffee at this point, when I am, I can upgrade no problem. The thing is if it's not convenient then I'd probably just never end up drinking it so, eh.

I cashed in my first live tournament (a 1k small field one) in 2 years today! I then won 4x the amount of my cash in 1 1/4 of an hour of cash games. Standard.

So! I updated my stream to include more suit settings/filters, mostly compression with ducking so you can hear me better and I can play louder music, and a noise gate. Going to play around with it a bit more.

The bad run continues as I run 5 buyins below EV.

That's including stuff like this too:

PokerStars - $2 PL Hi FAST (6 max) - Omaha Hi - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 100 BB
Hero (SB): 252.5 BB
BB: 122.03 BB
UTG: 116.21 BB
MP: 116.75 BB
CO: 185.33 BB

Hero posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has J A 9 J

UTG raises to 3.5 BB, fold, fold, fold, Hero calls 3 BB, fold

Flop: (8 BB, 2 players) 7 J 6
Hero bets 5.32 BB, UTG calls 5.32 BB

Turn: (18.64 BB, 2 players) K
Hero bets 17.71 BB, UTG raises to 70.84 BB, Hero raises to 230.23 BB, UTG calls 36.55 BB and is all-in

River: (233.41 BB, 2 players) 6
Players agreed to run it twice.

River #2: (233.41 BB, 2 players) A

Spoiler:
Hero shows J A 9 J (Full House, Jacks full of Sixes)
Board #1 (Pre 45%, Flop 87%, Turn 3%)
(Three of a Kind, Jacks)
Board #2 (Pre 45%, Flop 87%, Turn 3%)

UTG shows K 6 9 K (Full House, Kings full of Sixes)
Board #1 (Pre 55%, Flop 13%, Turn 98%)
(Three of a Kind, Kings)
Board #2 (Pre 55%, Flop 13%, Turn 97%)

UTG wins 116.02 BB
UTG wins 116.02 BB

When he raised it was pretty ugly, but with so many potential strong hands, obviously just have to get it in.

On the other hand, the action's been pretty good! And the thing is, even if you're running bad, you can't shy away from monkeying it up!

I won 5 buyins in EV, on the other hand, when I played some 5c/10c. Welp, whatcha gonna do. I'm still enjoying playing though so that's okay, and my live results are still good. I thought I was finally going to have a big losing session and was down 8! buyins at one point, but somehow managed to be up 2 buyins by the end. It was a real battle too.

I'm taking it easy next two days, and then later next week I shall go to Dublin, where I will be sure to make another trip report. I'm only going for a quick trip as well, but I shall enjoy it.

Also very happy to find out that it turns out I'll be able to go to WSOP after all! I haven't decided on dates yet; I mean to go early only, but then there are some events I want to play, and then suddenly I want to be there the whole series. I think what I'll do is probably try get a one way ticket and then decide what to do when I am there. We'll see though, still quite a whiles until June.

Oh yeah, in trying to encourage my horse, to stop running 100k below EV, I promised to be vegetarian, and go vegan for next 3 months if he manages to get even. Haven't been able to decide if it's a win-win or lose-lose yet, but we shall see!

Quick update! I've still been playing poker, I'm not dead!

I went to vegas and I won some money:

I've mostly been posting my progress on Insta (https://www.instagram.com/rinpoker/) since this thread is kind of dead, I haven't been posting or streaming too much, but I'm thinking of starting a vlog so I might start being a bit more active again and I might make a trip report on my Vegas trip or, hey, maybe we just move forward.

Anyway, I've begun streaming again and I finally had a winning session on stream! I might do a stream soon with some studying hand analysis, and even if you can't catch it live I do believe you can check archives, and feel free to ask questions here.

Also I made a vlog: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4olITzlqps. It's just a pilot and is really rough, but hopefully my next ones will improve! (I finally found some bearable background music for one thing). Supposedly people don't watch vlogs for strat content and I should stop "galfondding" soooo next time I'll just do what Horse does and call everyone a bozo and laugh at their play. That's what people liked about my previous thread anyway!

i watched your latest stream vid and i enjoyed it a lot. really relaxed vibe and some interesting hands too! oh and lets not forget about these dance moves. just wanted to say that i actually like to hear a little strat talk and i would also like if you'd stream study sessions and hand reviews like you mentioned at the end. looking forward!

Thanks! Mastermind has more of a complete overview of things you need to know, but there's also a lot of fluff, and RIO has some good videos. I'd start with MM and supplement with RIO. Gryko in particular is very good, and I enjoy his videos.

Glad you enjoyed it!

I'll probably do a HH check up soon, but I've had visitors the last 2 weeks so I've been really busy. I'm hoping to do my next vlog soon too, which takes a lot more mental energy than I expected even though it's just talking at a camera.

The stream should be easy enough though so I'll probably do it soon before my live grind or on the weekend. Feel free to ask questions from the video and post it here, and I'll be happy to answer any of them!

You must do another vlog soon! The first one was da bomb. Also, come visit MGM National Harbor sometime when you are in the DC area; you won't be disappointed by the action.

Second blog is on the way! Been really low energy lately, and quite busy. Had visitors and lots of things to do, but I think I'm getting the hang of it.

I'm going to try not feeling self conscious about the quality and instead rushing it and go 2+ vlogs a month if I can. After all I'm doing this for fun, so it's not a huge deal if the quality isn't great or I'm not getting a huge variety of shots.

There's a PLO MTT tomorrow actually, so I might try get some footage off that!

Apologies! I've come across some technical difficulties. I actually have shot the next 3 vlogs and finished editing the next one but there's some problem and I can't get it to render properly. Unfortunately I have a lot coming up the next while and need to grind/study so I probably won't be able to put it out after all. So sorry >< With luck I'll be able to get back onto it at some point but honestly it was way too frustrating and time consuming so I can't say.
