Re: How to Make a Million, OWN Life and become a ****ing Meathead (NO Steroids, NO Hookers)

****SECRETS TO GETTING RID OF ANXIETY (RESULTS MAY VARY)****:

Not posting a graph today (due to lack of volume). My anxiety lasted for maybe 10 minutes I just kept doing breathing exercises along with a shower before I played. I talked about what I will do in the tables (such as what hands I will be three betting), what I won't be doing (leveling myself, not getting it in light on the flop) and voila I managed to over come it.

The reason why I had a lack of volume surprisingly wasn't cause of me today! I guess everyone is out partying or something I usually been getting consistent non-stop action, but not today.

Anyways rolled for 200NL now

Shot take #2 hopefully I'll crush it this time.

Re: How to Make a Million, OWN Life and become a ****ing Meathead (NO Steroids, NO Hookers)

Ok, you're so full of entusiam for poker and making it on this journey, and that's good. But you also probably have no safety net and not enough going on in your life to make this healthy. I really respect the guts and drive it too to step out on your own.

But, your life is screaming for something more. Find a job, get some other interests. Nothing wrong with your dreams to succeed in poker but your just sort of all in in life on this one project. Diversify your life and income stream. Your rolled for 200nl? Really?

Anyway, check out the Kelly Criterion relative being rolled for something. Good luck but relax and think things through. I don't mean to really discourage you, just point out that your sort of out there on a limb, maybe you wanted to be. Shoot if my ability to eat depended on a week of poker Id be anxious as well, I think intuitively you know this, and it may be the reason you are feeling so stressed. Maybe you could teach English or something there. ANyways, best of luck.

Hey Kaiser, we all have different motives in life. 3 Months ago I was near broke, I was not willing to go home till I bust, truth is I know for a fact that would never happen, If I had to drop down to the 2$ buy ins I would do it. If thats what it takes to make it. To me its not just poker and goals of making here thats on the line. Thats a hell lot, but I have a ton of weight on my shoulders and a family that I need to help get out of this hell hole that we've been living in our whole life. Me being able to eat does NOT depend on this, I have money on the side in order to pay my bills. If I were to teach here that would be beyond redic, the amount they make an hour is about 1.5$ an hour.

To me this is a test, this is the way I always think of it, I always have thoughts of me getting down on my knees, begging for things to get better. I picture my family, my friends and I get asked the golden question "what would you be willing to do in order improve there lifestyles".
I think of this every damn day, I feel weak everyday (at one point throughout the day), who doesn't feel weak at one point though? but just this thought makes me strong and makes me know I can make it to the finish line.

Will look up Kelly Criterion later tonight as well.
---------------------
Graph for this week

And back to a breakeven day, I think whenever I meet Gordon I will take the 200NL shot anyways. I'm so ready for this, and obviously I have a huge edge in the 100NL games (low sample size, but who cares). Psychologically I'm strong, in every single way I'm strong. Running this bad did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to my game. I FEEL amazing that I managed to crush this hard (20bb/1000) DESPITE RUNNING 1K UNDER EV AND PAYING 500 IN RAKE!!!!! IF I lose 800, and drop down to 100NL? WELL thats poker, it HAPPENS, Ima KEEP STAYING STRONG AND KEEP FIGHTING

IF I EVER sound like a little crybaby please redirect me to this post and tell me stop being a ****ing ***** and man up. Real Talk.

#IMSOPUMPED.

Yep, I've never heard of anyone lighter then me for my height. I have a lot of work to do pokerwise and healthwise. I realize i'm not in a very healthy state and its very dangerous to be my weight and my height. But this year will be the year where I change everything for the better.

Hookers would be something I would consider if i was not a virgin. May be corny but im saving it for someone "special"

Hah for me its a good enough reason to save it

While I was here I was offered sex 3 times FOR FREE!(I really think its because im a foreigner), I rejected every time. I know some people who would snap accept the offer CONSIDERING every single girl whose offered it to me is atleast a 6 out of 10 one girl was an 8, it crosses my mind I think about it. But I stick by my belief I want to meet someone special.

70KG is a good weight though, all you need to do is workout and turn that fat into muscles yep, in cambodia I will not be eating so well food is too expensive (american food), and things i'm planning to eat. When I get to Mexico in april, I will be bulking up like crazy

If he were a multimillionaire, yes, perhaps he could relax for some time.

Do you think all the greats of history would have taken the slow road?

I don't mean to be discouraging, as I said I admire his courage. And, I admire his drive. The thing about gambling games though, is that it is not an appropriate measure of self worth. Real wealth from poker is certainly possilbe, rags to riches, all that 8-mile talk I see ITT. Cool really. I'm just saying, that four month period where EVERYONE hits a one outger against you and then the computer breaks and you get an infected tooth and the car breaks down, all at once, that is coming. It's coming because that's the nature of variance and what I see is someone whose entire self worth is based on the game. I'm not saying don't focus, not saying don't try or good luck because I hope he makes it and achieves those goals, I'm just saying.. don't go all in with self worth and poker.

The reason I think OP should broaden his horizons a bit and relax is not because I think he wont make it, it's because that seemly impossible run of bad luck is coming and I worry about the mental state I see here. When it does go wrong, when he hits a wall with say 400nl or whatever I'd like for him to have an emotional safety net of sorts and to know the sun will still rise the next day. If you folks are serious about gambling for a living you should really check out the Kelly Criterion and learn how much of your roll to risk in one level of play. Worst cliche in the world but listen to your elders: go for it, don't leave anything behind, focus but just know this, there is more to life than poker and experiencing all that OTHER, growing in other ways will definitely help with his life and with the game itself. Maybe you can find some other poker grinders in Cambodia who are like minded and expand your circle a bit and get a support system, share expenses, etc. ...

Ever heard of a saying what doesn't kill you makes you stronger? He is building himself up at a tremendous rate on a daily basis and he will achieve his goals on the long run.

And let me tell you, for us poker players the final mental goal is to play and make decisions purely based on our long-term ev. Obviously bankroll management etc is important but aside from that we work to completely eliminate the effects of emotional value that money has and the feeling of injustice etc because these are all illogical matters. We try to focus ourselves on logic and the final level would be when all decisions are made 100% based on logic.

and on a final note, we don't fear variance but embrace it because its part of the game we love so much.

is everyone a fitness trainer these days? That advice is wrong.

He just has to calculate his daily calories maintenance level which I estimate is around 2000kcal and eat about 500(with the right combination of macros, protein/carbs and fat) above that to gain weight. Obviously this needs to be combined with weight training otherwise he will only gain fat.

The most important thing would be to learn how to cook. Once I learned to feed myself a whole new world of opportunities opened up.

I've relaxed for 18 years of my life doing nothing already, no need for that anymore. I have to admit this is the most work I've ever done in my life by far and sometimes its work overload, months ago if you were to ask me if I were to do it all over again, I really don't know what I would answer because I had such a loser's mentality. If you were to ask me now I'd say I would do it again, and I'll still do it now. Anytime any day.

Huge thanks for changing my mindset, and putting that much trust on me Gordon means a lot :').

While im here in Cambodia, I can't even calorie count, it was something I considered, but I've heard from two people whose shown me results that calorie counting is complete BS. I know I'm extremely underweight, but I really do believe thats still to big of an overload for me. You will see me picking up weight tremendously once I leave cambodia, while I'm over here I don't know whats gonna happen. Milk is 4$ for 1 gallon, just anything I plan on eating the prices are ridiculous, Cereal is 6$. THESE are NOT exaggerations.

Maybe you can find some other poker grinders in Cambodia who are like minded and expand your circle a bit and get a support system, share expenses, etc. ...
Hey Kaiser, December I ended up running 11 BI below EV, along with nearly losing half of my roll. Was it mainly poker related? KINDA I ran bad, was it related to me playing bad and psychologically being weak? I definitely think that was a huge factor. I wasn't playing optimal anymore and was getting myself back in shape mentally.

Im saying this to prove a point, I've hit a really bad swing and I'd always be willing to drop and redo it no matter how long it takes. I'm also currently running 10 more BI below ev. you also got to realize this isn't PLO. I think in NL running ~30 or 40 BI is almost the worse run you can have hey more can happen, but I can handle the heat.

Also I read the Kelly Criterian thing, I don't think its too related to poker bankroll management its more about stocks/trading.

Hah, sometimes variance helped ruin my game (like it did last month because it hurt me psychologically, but long term it has helped me prepare to cope with it in the future. I told gordon before that I was glad that it happened last month).

You calorie count?? I've always been asking people about this but some people tell me its complete BS, and some don't. I don't know what to trust, I guess when in doubt look at the people whose actually done it and shown me results .

Over here in Cambodia I would not be able to cook, no stove, no microwave.

Just waiting' for Mexico to change myself physically, until then just going to be eating as much as I could before I take it extremely seriously.

This will be a good and straightforward resource when you decide to start putting on weight (as well as some of the other fitness subreddits)

Caloric theory isn't perfect but is an effective and simple way to track these things. Also you can't turn fat into muscle, but these are things you'll learn a long the way. Be skeptical of extreme positions eg. calories are complete BS, avoid all carbs, etc - most things in nutrition fall into some reasonable mid range, there's very few secrets or shortcuts.

    GL with the poker!
